Okay well that's great, because you will have to mod a fair amount to get this working.

Soldering is great that you can do this, because you probably have to make some internal wires smaller.
You also are very likely going to need a couple of tools such as:

• Dremel - A must have for any PC modding and great for other jobs around the house as well.
  
• Mechanical drill
  
• Measuring devices - You'll mostly need the caliper and probably a metal ruler as well to be able to measure most things.
  
• 3M Scotch 233+ / 401+ masking tape and markers - Because you'll need to cut and drill some holes.
  
• Lots of MEATBALLS! As stress relief?
  
• Perhaps a spare GameCube...or two?? In case that you maybe "break" or simply made a mistake on your current one.
  
  You'll have to really do a lot of planning, measuring & be ready to fix problems! Because you're bound to run into a lot of them.
