Unfortunately, I am very picky, and I did see this option, but I felt this wasn't going to meet my demand for BASS. I personally would have gone first with AIWA Exos speaker, but even with this one I felt my want would not be satisfied.

At that price level it's going to be hard to get something really beefy and satisfying.

An Aiwa Exos-9 https://www.amazon.com/Aiwa-Exos-9-Portable-Bluetooth-Speaker/dp/B00WF78GS4 with a 6.5 subwoofer in it would no doubt blow you away but the price level is quite different. A solid deal for what you get, mind you. There's just no substitute for size when it comes to bass output, and larger units cost more.

Now the Aiwa is "portable" but it's not really a beach speaker, for that you'd need something like a JBL Boombox. But those are even pricier (but water proof, and they float even). But maybe a JBL Extreme 2 would do the trick. They have very little bass under 80 Hz or thereabouts but otherwise are quite powerful. Still $200+. The original Extreme can be had for $160-ish though on Amazon.

We don't normally do bluetooth suggestions here and I get that's not what you're asking for but without power it's going to be hard to not go that route. I was thinking something like these

  • AIWA Exos-9 $300 - This seems to get good reviews, should be pretty loud and has a removal battery pack so you might could get a spare one to use for longer life.
  • Sony GTKXB90 $350 - 16 hours of playback (much less I'm sure if you have all the lights, strobes and volume up) and decent reviews.
  • Anker Soundcore Motion + $100ea - I would get two of these larger bluetooth speakers and pair them together. You can get better stereo sound and move them further apart to get better sound dispersion.

I've been using the Aiwa Exos-9 with an AUX cord and it never shuts off (While plugged in) and as a bonus, this speaker is far and away the best sounding speaker for it's price range ($300) I've heard.

At least it was when I researched it last year when I bought it.

I recently purchased one of these and have loved it so far.

If $300 is within your budget it's definitely the best speaker I've found at that price.

They make a highly rated and well reviewed kick ass bluetooth speaker. The Aiwa Exos 9

If just using Bluetooth then like /u/butka said just get something else. For the same price you can get this more powerful and better rated system and I'm not saying the Sonos is bad. This will just have more headroom and give you more bang for your buck.

In the iLoud 3-star reviews, found this:

After 50 years, nah. I did detect distortion as well. I was an early adoptor of the Aiwa. Everything sounds as if it came from the same session. The sweet spot is everywhere. It is 13#''s and big but I would not start messing with any other speaker again. Aiwa hit something perfect and all it takes is to be right once in a billion times. The remote is great as well. Head to head, no comparison. Mine have run 24/7 for almost a year.

I think he means this, and you can get a carry bag for it.

This is what I ended up with. Huge compared to your typical Bluetooth speaker, but you can't get big sound without big speakers.

This Aiwa Exos 9 Speaker is something along the lines of what I'm looking for. https://www.amazon.com/Aiwa-Exos-9-Portable-Bluetooth-Speaker/dp/B00WF78GS4?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2
