Bulbs are relatively cheap. All the sub $2000 projectors have bulbs that range from $200-350.

Anything here from Optima, Mitsubishi, Viewsonic, BenQ, JVC or Sharp that will fit in your budget will work for almost anyone. Make sure the units you are looking at are Native 1080P and not just capable of playing 1080P.

Like you said you will need a [Modern Receiver](http://www.amazon.com/mn/search/?_encoding=UTF8&keywords=denon&tag=wwwpuresimula-20&linkCode=ur2&bbn=281053&qid=1332099745&rnid=281053&camp=1789&creative=390957&rh=n%3A172282%2Ck%3Adenon%2Cn%3A%21493964%2Cn%3A667846011%2Cn%3A3236449011%2Cn%3A281053%2Cn%3A14269301#/ref=sr_nr_p_n_feature_keywords_1?rh=n:172282,k:denon,n:!493964,n:667846011,n:3236449011,n:281053,n:14269301,p_n_condition-type:2224371011,p_4:Onkyo|Denon|Marantz|Harman Kardon|Pioneer|Yamaha,p_n_feature_keywords_browse-bin:2883021011) to do the input switching. So just send one HDMI to the projector (one LONG hdmi) and hook up everything else locally with short HDMI's. If your PC doesn't have HDMI out you can buy an adapter.

Speakers for an "I don't care person" are the same for someone that absolutely needs awesome sound quality for cheap. These Dayton B652's .. Why these speakers? are my #1 pick. You will need three sets (2 front, 2 rear, 1or2 center) and a cheap subwoofer.

Cheap Subwoofers--

  • Sub-1000
  • Sub-1200
  • Bic America F12

Also some speaker wire and probably a projector mount

Any other questions of if you REALLY want me to narrow down your purchase choices let me know.

EDIT:: You can use this chart to determine how big and how far away from a 1080P screen you should be.

Common sizes of screens are 92, 100, 120" If you want to paint your wall you grab 1Qt of PPG Bermuda Beige and 8oz of Fine Aluminum Automotive paint additive. That has been determined as the best paint formula for color accuracy.

You can get a 25 foot HDMI cable for $12 Don't let the included cable restrict you home theater layout. get what you need.

It's gotta be. I just didn't realize they could be that thin. I've been using really beefy HDMI cables for longer runs that are so stiff it feels like they will break the HDMI connectors on my components. I should switch to RedMere cables.

Not even close.

And that's an expensive one.

Bare minimum for a PS3 is $60

I'm a little confused if you're saying $500 for speakers alone, or the set up. Heres a list I put together for a friend who had the same budget. Hope this helps.

Edit: If you go this route, don't forget these.

Do NOT buy the cheapest available HDMI cord you can find!! I haven't bought from Monoprice in a while, but I remember a lot of their cheaper HDMI cables did not support 1080p, only 1080i.

The last cord I bought was an Aurum and its performance has been great. The cable itself feels very high quality with solid connections on both ends. They also sell smaller sizes.
