You just push it into the bore where the brake switch contacts the stopper. You'll see a hole there because the old piece broke off and was laying on your floorboard. Just did this on my gf's Honda. Takes 2 minutes and about 3 bucks. You could also stick a bolt in there for a quick fix to keep your battery from draining.
