Pre-negotiations, set up the boundaries of the things you will be doing. Like will there be major bondage or gags involved or what are her limits on how far you can take this, things like that. As others have said keep a pair of sharp scissors near you for emergency situations. If this becomes a often thing invest in some EMT Trauma Shears. If you are using lockable items keep a set of keys on you at all times and a backup set in a safe place that is easy to access within the same environment you are playing in.

EMT here. The only time I've ever had use for this sort of thing was when we were Jaws-tooling apart a Mustang that had smashed into a tree, which then toppled over the car. For whatever reason, the... passenger? side seat had ratcheted forward, and we had no way of knowing the lap belt was cutting into the guy's waist until we got the door popped off.

I was scrabbling for my knife but someone else had another cutting tool (don't know what), and cut it.

FWIW, trauma shears are much better for this sort of thing. If for no better reason, if you get blood on them, they're semi-disposable. I've had to autoclave my Leatherman tool from getting blood on it before.

I literally just typed EMT scissors into google, and this was the first result: look here! :)

As for the breaking rules just to get punished for the fun of it, in my personal opinion, I think that's totally "kosher" as long as you both know that's why she's doing it. I especially think it's ok in a situation like yours, where your kink is bound to certain nights/situations, and you know exactly when play time is and when play time isn't. When it becomes not-okay is if/when you are in a more permanent arrangement, and brattiness becomes more of a personality trait than something fun.

The locks do prevent crime of opportunity though.

Anyway, just so I get this of my chest given that I don't know how much experience OP has, a short safety message: Rope Bondage is edge play (you can get seriously hurt), please don't go and do something that you've seen once on the web, practice first on a pillow/log/broom/teddy/yourself and get comfortable with knots and the rope you want to use. Have EMT safety scissors with reach at all times when you actually tie someone up, because rope is cheap in comparison to anyones well-being.

Get on FetLife(Interesting that not allot of people advertise the awesome site, subscribe to the rope bondage forum and read the stuff from there, you can also try to see if you have someone in your area that has some experience using FetLife, though I understand that smaller communities tend to have less kinksters in them.
