Don't buy a blade unless it specifies the kerf measurement, rather than just saying "thin kerf". For a 10" blade, thin kerf is 3/32". Smaller blades are meant for circular saws, and are almost always 5/64".

There are a few options:

  • Freud Industrial has a 34t general purpose which claims a standard 3/32" kerf. This should be roughly comparable to a 40t 10" blades. Looking at the decimal, these are on the narrow side of 3/32", but will probably still clear the splitter unless you have unusually little runout.

  • The exceptional Forrest Woodworker II is available in 40t general-purpose 3/32". Looking at the decimal, that's on the heavy side of 3/32"; consider it "extra medium" and it'll almost certainly work and cut great. Of course, whether you love your old saw enough to put a hundred-dollar blade on it is debatable.

  • CMT has a couple of options in 8" blades, all the way up to true 1/8" kerf, but it looks like they're mostly ground for rip cutting only. I couldn't find a combination or general-purpose, but there's a fair chance one exists, and CMT blades are good if you see an appropriate one.

Personally, I'd get the Freud 34t and start saving up for a used Craftsman 113.
