Agreed. As long as the parts are compatible, which we can help with, assembling a pc is the way to go. This budget is difficult, though. Ideally you’d budget $250 (210€?)just for the graphics card. You really want a GTX1060. The graphics card is everything in a gaming computer. You won’t have much budget left; that means bare minimums on everything else.

This build is an excellent place to start:

PCGamer.com cheapest gaming computer build

Intel Pentium G4560
GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
ASRock B250M Pro4
Crucial 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4-2133
Crucial MX300 275GB
EVGA 450W 80+ Bronze PSU

Don’t forget a copy of Windows 10, a decent mouse, keyboard, monitor, and headphones or speakers.

Also I’ll suggest you reuse an old 7200rpm SATA hard drive (250gb+)if you have one in an old PC. This isn’t ideal, but it will help control costs and while it will make the game load slower than the Crucial MX300 listed above, it wont really affect gameplay.

Because I'm bored and do this for a living I'm going to put together an alt build for you:

Nice entry level Skylake gaming Mobo (I've used this, it's nice, has USB 3.1 which will be very helpful in the coming years for data transfers)

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Gaming-Skylake-Motherboard-H110M/dp/B01B4U47E4/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486579857&sr=1-2&keywords=lga+1151

Processor: G440

https://www.amazon.com/Intel-BX80662G4400-Pentium-Processor-FCLGA1151/dp/B015VPX05A

RAM (only 8GB but get 16 if you can afford another $40 or so)

https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-HyperX-2133MHz-Non-ECC-HX421C14FBK2/dp/B00TY6A1P0/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486579959&sr=1-5&keywords=DDR4

Video card:

RX 470 OC edition, I like this card great bang for the buck:

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Radeon-RX-470-ARMOR/dp/B01N3TCNNW/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486580034&sr=1-1&keywords=RX+470+4gb

SSD: budget one, but way better than a spinning drive:

https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-240GB-Internal-SP240GBSS3S55S25AE/dp/B01M61OWRI/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486580111&sr=1-1&keywords=240gb+ssd

Power supply:

no reason to spend more with this build:

https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Warranty-Power-Supply-100-N1-0400-L1/dp/B00LV8TZAG/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486580138&sr=1-1&keywords=400+watt+power+supply

Case:

https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-VERSA-Micro-Gaming-Computer/dp/B01CLIZ698/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486580162&sr=1-5&keywords=micro+atx+case

total cost of build is roughly:

Mobo ($70)

CPU ($60)

GPU ($170)

RAM ($70)

SSD ($60)

PSU ($30)

Case ($40)

So total is roughly $500 and with this build you have a great upgrade path, which you won't have at all with the one you proposed.

u/Drarrhat · 6 pointsr/buildapcsales

This seems to be Prime only.

Also, Kingston HyperX FURY Black 8GB Kit (2x4GB) 2133MHz DDR4 CL14 for $50. Overclocks to 2666MHz. There were 30 in stock when I ordered, currently backordered until April 19.

EDIT: Ignore that last paragraph if you're getting Ryzen. It needs more MHz.

Assuming that you have a budget of exactly $1,000:

  • Use DDR4 RAM not DDR3, something like this which costs a lot cheaper.
  • Maybe remove the HDD and just buy one when you have enough money?
  • Seasonic M12II 80+ Bronze power supply costs cheaper
  • The R9 390 costs cheaper normally and performs a little better too

That should give you exactly $1000.

If you have around $1000, you should get:

  • Better HDD, don't get me wrong that's a good choice, but why only 500Gb? Just get a 1 Tb one.
  • Get a 650W PSU. Going a little over what's needed is always good, plus you don't want the PSU to be performing always at peak capacity, so you should get one that's a little more than what you need.

Yes I do agree that a different mobo would be better, because for one your mobo likes to use DDR3L, which is slower than the new DDR4 and pricier too. You should get this or this instead.

Lastly, if you're gonna play competitive CS:GO you should splurge on a 144Hz monitor like the BenQ XL2411Z, which is exactly what the pros use.

Thanks for the quick reply, I've just formatted the parts and searched them on Amazon for the parts, I feel like getting ripped off. Because I showed him the parts to buy for me then completely changed my build. This was my build when I showed him, I feel like my build is much better than what he offered me

I'm looking to grab this Kingston HyperX Fury RAM (2x4GB) with my MSI b150I Gaming Pro AC Mini ITX mobo, but looking at the support page it doesn't have the exact model # (HX421C14FBK2/8) listed. It has every other HyperX kit listed as compatible, and on pcpartpicker it's listed as compatible, but for some reason the 2/8 isn't there on MSI's site. Will this RAM be okay? It's my first build and trying to get things done before Christmas, but I'd be really pissed if this didn't work. I just can't see why the mobo would accept a 2x8GB kit and not a 2x4GB kit OF THE SAME RAM... Any help is appreciated.

u/pretentious888 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Hm, yeah G2 sounds better. I actually wanted to get the GS but it's sold out :( .

Also, I need to find a cheaper option for the ram, I would prefer 8gb (2x4gb) ddr4, but I'm not sure what's good for that.

EDIT: I found this, is this memory any good?

u/Houiller · 1 pointr/buildapc

i have this M/B and inserting this RAM. However it does not recognise it at all?

u/lockethebro · 1 pointr/buildapc

I had literally the exact same problem as you with the same parts other than the ram. Only problem with that is that my problem ended up being with the ram, but it's possible you still have the same issue. Try buying this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00TY6A1P0/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I swapped this in and it worked perfectly! If this doesn't work let me know and I'll help out.

u/OGPea · 1 pointr/buildapc

I fully uninstalled the drivers from my system through windows. Should I have used DDU instead?

My mobo bios is the one it came with. Last time a checked it was only a few versions behind the latest version. I've been kinda scared of updating it because I've heard it can cause many problems if done incorrectly.

How is this build? Any faster RAM for a similar price? I'm probably going to get this instead but is there anything else worth changing? Any particular important features the motherboard will be missing or is it fine? Thank you.
u/rextos · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

also btw i got this ram

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TY6A1P0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

so later if i wanna go 16gb, can i just buy another set of 2 of these? or do i need to get rid of these and use 2 8gb sticks?

u/formthelines · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Personally, i feel the necessities would be a GTX 960 and an Intel i5, with 8GB DDR4 RAM and an i5/DDR4 supportive Motherboard.

Those 3 are in my current set-up and i am gaming in VR with a GTX 970. The 960 will do though for most games, i haven't seen it run anything less than 60fps.

u/BigBenny60 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Yeah I'm aware of 16 gb not being exactly necessary. My ram is the bottleneck of my build right now, I have four sticks, two 4 gbs and two 2 gbs, all of which I received from a friend when I first built my PC. I've since upgraded all my components except my ram, and currently I'm having some strange performance issues which I believe to be related to my ram being outdated, the sticks are incredibly old.

I wasn't aware of DDR4 being the new top choice, I'll have to look into those. Also, I primarily game, but I game hardcore on the most demanding settings, so 16 gb isn't necessarily needed, but I also do some creative projects that require a decent amount of rendering so I figured I'd just go all out.

Edit: Just found these, what do you think?

https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-2133MHz-Non-ECC-Desktop-HX421C14FBK2/dp/B00TY6A1P0/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1478809065&sr=1-1&keywords=ddr4+ram

Do you have any recommendations for DDR4 sticks? I really appreciate the help.

u/SkullCandyy · 1 pointr/buildapc

I would upgrade to an AM4 motherboard; you would have to replace your DDR3 with DDR4, but it will future proof your setup for a while. Also in terms of upgrading CPU I would go with a Ryzen 5 1600, it's price to performance ratio is pretty much unparellelled and you are going to have a great rig.

I would say get:

ASUS Prime B350-Plus

AMD Ryzen 5 1600

Kingston HyperX FURY Black 8GB

u/wbstylez · 1 pointr/PUBATTLEGROUNDS

Ah, so they do both have to be 4GB then since that is what I already have.

I was thinking just grabbing the same ones.. do the MHz matter a lot? 1600 vs 2100

Here are the two I was looking at...

Also.. what graphics card would you go for? I was hoping not to spend a whole lot!

u/TrueMarksmens · 1 pointr/buildapc

Quick question, throwing together a build for my friend —

Is the Kingston HyperX FURY (2x4gb) compatible with the ASRock350 Pro4 motherboard? Partpicker says yes but I can't find it on the official list of compatible memory.

u/KETOS1S · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

This should work fine for you, and it's hard to beat that price point. Also, i just upgraded to a 970 from a 280 and I'm pretty happy. The Division runs like dogshit tho. Terrible optimization

u/_ShiHasu_ · 1 pointr/buildapc

Should the 2 sticks still be 2400Mhz or would these work for the same price?

https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-HyperX-2133MHz-Non-ECC-HX421C14FBK2/dp/B00TY6A1P0/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1522778697&sr=1-3&keywords=2x4GB+RAM+ddr4

I was thinking of dropping the PSU to 600-750 which is a $40 difference (May run a second GPU but that would be way in the future when I decide to do upgrades)

Yeah I suppose there's no reason and can save a bit of money there.

u/TechySpecky · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Guys i'm pretty sure he's asking us to suggest him a RAM stick.

OP, you need at least 8GB i'd say, depends on your budget, any RAM will do fine.

Also, DDR3/DDR4 depends on your motherboard. You can't just mix and match, tell us the name of your motherboard and we will tell you what RAM to buy.

DDR4 8GB for 32$: https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-2133MHz-Non-ECC-Desktop-HX421C14FBK2/dp/B00TY6A1P0

DDR3 8GB for 35$: https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-HyperX-FURY-2x4GB-1600MHz/dp/B00J8E93G6

u/FreeMan4096 · 1 pointr/buildapc

cant go wrong with RAM. This one is popular choice due to good value, looks and low latency.

Remember to re-buy exactly same kit in the future, when games start to use more than 8GB of RAM.

u/Asteradragon · 1 pointr/buildapc

So I'm building a new rig with this 2 x 4 GB DDR4 ram. I'm wondering if I could add, for example, this ram and have the system work - I've read that different clock speeds/manufacturers of the RAM can lead to problems. Thanks!

Why not the 6100/63xx?

ddr4 is comparable in price http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-2133MHz-Non-ECC-Desktop-HX421C14FBK2/dp/B00TY6A1P0/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1464485911&sr=1-2&keywords=ddr4

a nice bump and allows for easier upgrading should the person want to. a 6100 is $116ish and 6320 is $150ish with the unofficial overclock it gets a nice boost in power too.

u/leaffblower · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'm getting the PC today so I'm pretty excited and I want to make sure I have everything figured out. The financial situation has changed a bit, so I don't really have a huge restraint, but I'm still trying to make it affordable, so I'm keeping most of the stuff I have. I am absolutely fine with my laptop being wiped. That's cool because I'm giving it to my Dad. The laptop came with Windows 8, and now has the most recent version of Windows 10, but I can buy a new copy if I need to. The external drive I have has ALL of the information I need, and I can't really transfer that because I don't have any other drive big enough. So would there be a way I could install my new computer onto it, and keep all of the info? Or do I have to buy another one. Just a reminder, It's an SSD. This is actually cheaper DDR4 and it would run better.

u/oohkinky · 1 pointr/patientgamers

The difference between the higher and lower RAM in that video seems to be around pretty small (~£5-10) in the UK, seen here and here for example. So you're right in that regard. I should have clarified that I was more comparing it to DDR3 ram, which I bought for very cheap (£28). But looking on amazon, it seems that DDR3 is not sold or much less sold than it used to be. I built my PC last year where DDR3 and 4th gen CPUs/mobos were still fairly popular. It seems that's not the case anymore!

I currently have 2x4GB of DDR4 2133MHz RAM installed in my system. My motherboard has 4 slots, so I have room to upgrade, and I would like to go up to 16GB of memory.

My question is, is it optimal to repurchase the same model of memory sticks that I bought at first? Will there be a difference in performance if I buy a different company or a different MHz model?

My current RAM is this, 2x4GB. I have an Intel i5-6500 for my CPU.
