I know this isn't an answer but If you look on the Amazon link for the controller, they call it the "official controller for SHIELD TV, SHIELD Tablet and GeForce-equipped PCs."

Ethernet cable GeForce Now works better if you are wired if possible. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BHZZU4I

Internet GeForce NOW requires at least 15Mbps for 720p at 60fps and 25Mbps for 1080p at 60fps.

You’ll need to use a hardwired Ethernet connection or 5GHz wireless router.

NVIDIA SHIELD Controller you may want to get another one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N7DQ0L6

Nvidia shield K1, $199 in Amazon. Based on the specs it should able to handle higher graphics setting than a PC emulator (Bluestacks 2 highest setting is only at 3)

coupled it with this Nvidia Shield Controller $59.99 , then you should be golden..

Not sure if this will help but you can buy from here but it's a lot cheaper.

I don't know what all her factors are, but I would think that the most accessible way to play the Switch would be to use regular Switch and a larger TV screen via the "full" Dock, with an appropriately ergonomic controller. The Switch Lite screen is pretty small. Plenty of people--even people whose sight isn't great--can still use it enjoyably because, as a handheld, you can hold it pretty close to your face. However, that means you're using the built-in controls, which are decent, but probably not the most ergonomic for people with big hands and (possibly?) knuckle issues.

If you want to use an external controller, you'll have to use a stand. If you want to use the 8bitdo adapter, that stand will have to also be a mini-dock with USB ports. In either case, it requires a table or flat surface and you'll need enough room for you to hold the controller at a comfortable level and then have the Switch screen at some distance that's likely further away than that...unless you do something interesting, like sit on a low chair at a table, having the Switch more at head or neck level, and then hold the controller closer down by your lap.

Summary: the Lite works great as a handheld, but might be a little small as a tabletop console.

Another option for optimally positioning the Switch without worrying about your table level is a gooseneck stand like this one.

As far as controllers go, is this the one she likes?

A PS4 controller matches that layout. So does the 8bitdo SN30 Pro+. Keep in mind if you think the gooseneck stand idea is interesting, you probably couldn't use that with the Lite's charging dock (which has the USB ports the 8bitdo PS4 adapter would need), so you'd be limited to controllers that functioned directly with the Switch, sans adapters. So the SN30 Pro+ would still be an option.

> Console and PC are nearly the same thing and are getting closer all the time

Outside of the core architecture, not at all.

> Touch controls are the definition of mobile phone games, and bypassing is is cheating.

I'll give you the "definition of mobile games", but if bypassing is cheating then owning an Nvidia Shield, Nvidia Shield controller, or literally any official gamepad peripheral for mobile is cheating.

> All of these I just listed have approved versions for each platform. Mobile gaming does not have any approved peripherals associated with it.

Except for all of the official controller peripherals and dedicated gaming devices that exist for Android?

> Console and PC can be played with whatever control scheme anyone wants, but the point of mobile gaming is you are restricted to the touch screen, your fingers block some of the screen, you can quickly play anywhere, and it is a super casual experience.

Then why can I- and by extension, anyone- plug in a controller or keyboard into my/their phone? All you need is an extra peripheral, which you'd need on a PC too.

Your entire argument is deeply flawed when you consider everything you're saying applies to mobile, too- I can use a touchscreen or a keyboard or a controller or really any USB device on my phone, as can really anyone with an Android device (or iOS, in the case of bluetooth; I don't know if USB OTG dongles exist for idevices or not), just like I can use a keyboard, controller, or really any USB device on my PC. Devices with inbuilt controllers even exist, alongside a plethora of dedicated, first-party mobile gaming peripherals. Controllers made by major gaming brands designed for Android as a whole even exist; not going to count it as a first party device as it doesn't seem tailor made for the Razer Phone, but the general point still stands.

To answer my own question this Amazon page for the controller seems to indicate that it supports Shield Tablets and thus should work on the original Shield TVs too.

Another interesting blurb:

The Gateway to Your New Smart Home
Because the SHIELD controller is always on, you can command your living room with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, completely hands-free. Dim the lights, change the temperature, the possibilities are endless.

So it looks like we are getting Alexa integration as well???

From the sounds of it, you'd probably like either the Xbox one controller or the Nvidia shield controller, the newest variation this one

I just tried the Nvidia Shield controller v2, it works perfectly in Oculus Arcade. No lag, and mapping is correct.

Press the shield button on the controller during 5 sec to put it in pairing mode, then pair it through the Oculus phone app.

I didn't try it in other apps, let me know if you want me to test something.

I'm partial to the NEW (bluetooth) Shield controller - https://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-SHIELD-Controller-Android/dp/B01N7DQ0L6/ although I can't compare it to the G4S.

The d-pad is much-improved, I prefer the new physical back/home/start buttons, and the smaller size is nice.

I like using the NVidia Shield controller (the new one, not the old dreamcast looking one). Button layout similar to PS4 but so much more comfortable in the hand. https://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-SHIELD-Controller-Android/dp/B01N7DQ0L6

I'm definitely interested. I'm on the east coast as well. The controller retails for 50 I believe last I looked. Depending upon how much shipping is if it'll still save me money @35 I'll go for it. Pming you now.

Edit* - Looks like it actually retails for 60 - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nvidia-shield-wireless-controller-black/5709707.p?skuId=5709707

It's using Bluetooth now.

"Brand New Design
The SHIELD controller has been completely redesigned with improved feel, shape, and sensitivity of dual analog sticks and trigger buttons. It’s sleek and stylish, with a battery that lasts over 60+ hours before needing a recharge, thanks to advanced Bluetooth technology."

Also, it has the always-on listening for Google Assistant's "OK Google" or "Hey Google" commands.
