I'm assuming you're looking for earbuds and not over-ear or on-ear headphones.
If you're looking for a cheap pair, I'd suggest the Sony Extra Bass earbuds ($35-50 depending on where you buy them from). I'm using these right now. They don't have a volume rocker and the play/pause button is somewhat spongy but you get what you pay for.
If you're looking for a more premium pair, I'd suggest the Sennheiser Momentums ($75-99). I don't own these but I've heard excellent reviews.

Sennheiser In ear Momentums. Great sound and the controls work on android.
Bought these about a year ago and I absolutely love them. Well worth the price.
My daily work earbuds are the Sennheiser Momentum'sand at home I have the Audio Technica ATH-M50x, on top of the numerous other sets of headphones and earbuds that I've used along the way.
+1 to this. I recently bought these—they're not noise cancelling but they cut noise like crazy and they're super comfortable.
This is just going to get into fanboy territory. It's mostly down to taste and getting reputable parts.
My assumptions:
Replacement grade:

With Inline controls and mic:

Everyone's other go-to suggestion for "I want earbuds":

Nobody will call your choice regrettable, unless they are being unreasonable.

and these for travel and school Sennheiser Momentum In-Ear. I like them both for their purpose, but I'm not particularly fond of the Sennheisers shrill highs, and I feel the Audio Technicas are a little too neutral for my music.
I've also been looking for headphones myself but am stuck between the Motorhead Iron Fist, the ATH-M50X, and the Grado sr80e, any new suggestions are welcome, though.

I've used these religiously over the past year. They are a little pricey, but the quality is outstanding and the controls that you mention work great. Great for music and conference calls.
>One example, from a shady source, doesn't disprove my point.
Yet people are so quick to accuse Focal for sending out a single demo Utopia that was different than all the rest.
Disassembling an HD800/HD800S pretty much reveals the thinnest gauge internal wire you can imagine on a flagship. Sennheiser's cabling is known to be notoriously poor from top to bottom.
Sorry for not formatting, but I'd like a quick answer.
I'm not very knowledgeable on headphones so could anybody tell me if these are good quality/value? I'm not looking for a super high quality listening experience, just some good quality earbuds for music, Skyping, and some gaming.
Looking for some in-ear headphones, preferably good nosie isolating ones. Will be used with a Samsung S8. Budget is around $130 CAD. Here are the ones I'm currently looking at:
Shure se215

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N3RFFV6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00 I bought these awhile back and have been using them. pretty solid
This is said to be better than the shure's for the same price according to LinusTechTips
> Shure SE215
Which Shure?
Is this the Sennheiser you are talking about?
https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Momentum-Ear-Android-version/dp/B00N3RFFV6
I think the Shure will fit better and stay in for me.
Haven't used them myself, but they seem to have gotten high marks from users on "head-fi".
http://www.head-fi.org/t/733283/new-sennheiser-momentum-in-ear/390
On Amazon they're currently selling for $99.95 so they'd be cheaper than the three I mentioned, esp. the SE315.
Some notes (sorry if you've found out this stuff about them already):
Budget - ~$100
Source - Mostly LG V20, Probably PC with onboard audio (realtek).
Requirements for Isolation - Some isolation
Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Mostly in public, sometimes exercise or home chores
Preferred Type of Headphone - IEMs with inline controls.
Preferred tonal balance - Overall balance
Past headphones - current IEM Skullcandy Ink'd, now I know betterr... Own the HE-350 and CHC Silverado
Preferred Music - Mostly Spotify HiFi and Netflix or Youtube when out eating to entertain myself. Music is mostly Modern Rock or Hard Rock (Alter Bridge, Godsmack, Cranberries, Disturbed, SOAD, Korn, Metallica (Heavy Metal) among many others) but might listen to Epic and Classical (2 Steps From Hell, Lindsey Stirling, Bond, 2Chellos, etc) and from time to time.
What would you like to improve on from your set-up - Clear vocals and good percussion sounds, love the drums!. Not too heavy on bass.
Have these candidates, ranked in order, but open to options.
Meze 11 NEO Gun Metal - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JPXG2JU/
Shure SE215-K - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004PNZFZ8

Edit - Spacing
Currently rocking some of these sennheisers and they're pretty sick. Only complaint is the cords is SO long. I catch it on fucking everything. Like when I bend over to tie my shoe or some shit the cord will catch on my knee when I stand back up. They sound great though. You can also get them in black/silver if you don't want that metallic red (I went with the black).
I used to have these Bose ones and dude, they are honestly the best headphones I ever had. Unfortunately mine got stolen and now that exact model isn't made anymore. The ones they sell now are the same headphones plus cellphone functionality and they're like $30 more or so.
I know people talk so much shit on Bose and how they're a rip off and I believe some of it (hence why I went with the often praised Sennheisers for my next pair), but honestly those Bose were the best 'phones I ever had. Maybe they just fit my ear perfectly but they had amazing bass, very clear sound, they were so comfy I would forget I had them on and that rubber wing looking design keeps them in your ears no matter fucking what. You think it will look stupid but that whole thing is invisible inside your ear so they look fine. You can run/jump/dance/anything with them in and they won't go anywhere. Very happy with my Senns but I will never not miss those Bose ones I had.
EDIT: I now understand you were looking for proper closed headphones, not in-ear. I prefer in-ear myself and if you ever want a good pair around the $100 range, check those 2 out^^
I love the 1More Triple, probably the best bang for buck IEM in the market under $100. I loved them so much I wrote a review on them although plenty of critic reviews online. They are so good there usually isn't much of a reason to pick the double driver over the triple unless you really want that white colour scheme. i personally would save towards them but you may value different things from me. If all you want is a decent pair of IEMs with volume control, there are alternatives.
The Mee 6 Pro are a pretty decent sounding pair of $50 IEMs that come in black but they are over ears which some love and some find inconvenient. They come with removable mmcx cables and one of the cables has build in volume controls.
Objectively speaking the Sennheiser Momentum In Ears are quite a decent pickup for the discounted price of $70. Whilst I personally dislike some parts of the design such as the cable management, they are still a good pair of $100 IEMs and not a bad pickup at a discount.
Sennheiser Momentum in-ear are pricey, but they sound great and have a three button remote. Earbuds aren't very common, so finding a pair that sounds good will be difficult.
They are these: http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-MOMENTUM-In-Ear-Samsung-version/dp/B00N3RFFV6/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1421183164&sr=8-7&keywords=sennheiser+momentum
They have been reported to work on G3's by fellow redditers also my Klipsch S4a-II's are supposed to work but they don't. Surprisingly I recently found out that my fake galaxy s3 ear-buds work though.
Here ya go! The momentum in ears :)
I would recommend:
Pros:
For bassheads, eco friendly, earbud design, look pretty damn good, inline button + mic, durable cable, perfect for the gym (sweat resistant design), good customer service (1 year warranty), silicon ear tips and decent noise isolation.
Cons:
For bassheads only so it may not sound as good as others on here, not as popular as others on here, mic is not best, cable tangles, can't find it on UK Amazon website.
https://www.amazon.com/Thinksound-ts03-mic-Isolating-Microphone/dp/B073PG7X22
Best overall, in my opinion.
Pros:
Easily the most durable so long as you aren't being dumb and using it with excercise. Should last several years with care (4+, some have lasted 8 years without issue for those who take care of them), only a few months (or weeks) if you are using them while working out (same applies with the rest).
Great sound (imo), very comfortable (needs a getting used to due to design), fantastic isolation, great customer service with two year warranty, has foam tips + silicone sleeves, are a classic, nice case and with a great durable, detachable cable.
Cons:
No inline mic, goes over your ear (needs some getting used to), prep time takes a while (doing it in a rush can damage your ears), might not be the most stylish, horrible for excercise and there are plenty of Chinese ripoffs on the market.
(By the way, Shure foam tips are better than Complys, they last much longer but are more expensive. They don't fit all IEMs though.)

Pros:
Good sound (V shape), nice case, have an earbud design (prep time is easy and short), two year warranty with good customer service, easy to move around with, inline control with mic, flat cable, good reputation, look stylish (to some, at least) and several tips.
Cons:
They are a pain to put away in the case (still recommended to do so), not the best isolation, not sure if they are compatible with Comply foam tips, no detachable cables.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-Momentum-Ear-Android-version/dp/B00N3RFFV6
Pros:
Cons:
Horrible cable quality (it was the case for all the previous versions and I am not convinced that these are better), questionable to bad customer service, durability has some issues.

In that order.
I have the sennheiser momentum in-ears, and really like them. the mic and controls both work flawlessly. i paid 100 for them and think they are worth it, looks like there is a sale on right now, 63. http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Momentum-In-Ear-Android-version/dp/B00N3RFFV6?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage
I have used the piston 2.0 with a previous phone and thought they were fantastic for the price.
Hey Guys! I think I've narrowed down my choice in wired IEM to these two.
Sennheiser Mometum IEM vs Shure SE215. I'd love to hear your opinions! Information about what I'd like below. Also, if you know of a better option than these two that fits my needs I'd love to hear it! Thanks!
Budget - Below $200 (The two I'm deciding between are ~$130)
Source - iPhone X
Requirements for Isolation - Some, to a lot. Using in gym/university, decently loud areas.
Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - Yep.
Preferred Type of Headphone - IEM (see above)
Preferred tonal balance - I wouldn't go as far to say I'm a basshead but I like my metal to hit hard and my hip hop beats to feel deep.
Past headphones - I had a pair of Senn IEM's for like. 8 years. Loved them. Cable broke. Don't know the model, but paid like $80 for em.
Preferred Music - Metal/Hiphop/Prog/Everything else. (sorry, this is no help)
What would you like to improve on from your set-up - I just have to imagine that a bit more in spending + 8 years in technology changes means I have to be getting a better sound with these, no? That and I'd love it they last as long as my last pair.
Momentum in ear are currently on a nice sale and come wit hthe control format of your choice. they are pretty similar to the pistons in the sound signature, but have better build.
If one side craps out it usually means you are breaking an twisting the cable. Do you stuff the IEM in your pockets?
Jesus Christ that's a huge tear in the wire. Amazon has these brand new for $80.
