Hey there. As someone who is really sensitive to smells, this would drive me nuts. Luckily, I am a professional cleaner and the owner of 5 cats, so here's hoping I can help you.
First of all, I am going to take a guess that you used some sort of clay based litter in your old apartment? That stuff really does stink! I have a friend that insists on using it and whenever I stay over, all my clothes, hair etc, stink of cat litter when I get home. So I think I know what you mean by litter box smell. If you haven't already, switch to a better litter to avoid this problem again in the future. My absolute favorite(really doesn't smell at all!) is Super Benek http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_litter/super_benek/461099 it's very much like Oko plus, but it doesn't track all over the house, and it is cheaper!
Ok, now to tackle the smell! I once had a flat where one of my cats had sprayed the entire living room. I tried everything to get rid of the stink(and I mean EVERYTHING). The only thing that worked was Simple Solution https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Cats/Simple-Solution-Stain-Odour-Remover-Cats-Litre/B005GO2VX4/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1487580673&sr=8-6&keywords=simple+solution I had tried all the other cleaners including Urine Off, etc, but they did bugger all. This stuff really works! For tough smells, you may have to use it twice, but it does work! Get the biggest bottle you can, and transfer it to a cheap spray bottle(get a funnel, so you don't spill it everywhere when transferring).
Remove everything from your room except furniture(like you have). And literally soak your room with it. Clean the furniture with it by spraying it on. Leave for 20 mins or so, then wipe off. Spray the carpet etc. Now, the great thing about this stuff is you can use it in your washing machine. You can either put it in place of your washing powder, or, spray all your clothes with it prior to washing. Leave for 30 mins or so, then wash as normal. Do this with your curtains as well. Literally, anything that can be sprayed or washed, do it with this stuff.
The only thing that might be a problem is your mattress. They really aren't easy to clean and if the smell has penetrated deep, you may have to get a new mattress. But you can try spraying it. I would tip the mattress onto it's side and spray it well, all over, and leave it to dry. You may have to sleep on the sofa for a night though.
You can also spray your shoes with this stuff to kill any odor, including sweaty feet smells. Or if you or a friend throws up, it will kill vomit smells. It's really great for anything like that. So always keep a bottle on hand for accidents! Since finding this stuff, I never have a problem with cat smell, and I have always got my deposit back from landlords.
