You could try tapping the crank arm and rethreading the pedal, or take it to your LBS and see if they can lend a hand. Might be more expensive than your crankset is worth though. What bike and group set are you running? Please see the link. These extenders have been known to save the day. With a small modification of cutting a v groove with a dremmel or hack saw, they become a thread chaser cleaner tool.

Ah gotcha. So it's probably the retaining bolts that hold on the crank arms which means you had a decent amount of outward pressure. A solid crankshaft would fix that or possibly going to hybrid style bike or mountain bike as their cranks tend to be a bit more rugged. Also, I'd be curious to see if putting some pedal spacers on would help as that would move the pedals out a bit wider and mean less outward drive/pressure and more downward force. A good bike fit should be able to figure that out. Something like this it just makes the pedals a bit wider to help where your feet fall during the pedal stroke. Your pedals screw into those and then they screw into the crank arms.
