Agree with the others, stick with the 26s, fit some quick rolling rubber.

Vittoria Evolution which I fitted to my sons Giant Upland, made a world of difference.

Or these Maxxis Overdrive which are reasonably priced and very durable for the $s. If $ are no object, have a look at Schwalbe Marathon Plus in 26x1.75 or 26x2.00
