Yeah, don't worry about fancy pedals/clips/straps on a hybrid bike. But, if you're pedals are plastic, consider upgrading to a better/stiffer platform pedal with a larger base than your current pedals. The metal pedals do not flex and feel more stable. Also much less likely to break.
