The Living Dead. There are like 25 stories in the book IIRC. I'd say 22 of them are "good", and at least 5 are pretty great. The non-Romero style many stories have may turn some zombie fans off, but I liked the book a lot. A couple of the stories are real standouts. It's hard for me to pick a favorite. I liked Dead Like Me most, or maybe the schoolhouse one I suppose. Dead Man's Road was good too, maybe that was my favorite, heh. I liked the last rambling one too though, where the guy explains how his town falls to the dead as it happens. The Stephen King one was actually better than I figured too.

Book of the Dead is a great anthology too. Maybe even better, but I liked both since I really like short stories for some reason.

I get that. read so much that unless I could get paid for reading, I wouldnt be able to afford all the stuff I read so I pretty much just buy the stuff I enjoyed and want to have physical copies of, might add scott pigram to that list, idk yet.

scott pilgrim was originally made in a black and white format but was later released in color and thats probably the way to go as its not much more and it looks great.

thats the full thing in color, or so it seems. it says its 1, 2, 3 which I'd hope it has everything compacted there, original release had 6 volumes.


there are also hard cover options. whatever you do, just check to see if you're ordering a color or B&W variants so you dont accidentally order something you didnt want.

I recommend The Living Dead edited by John Joseph Adams. It's not a novel, but a rather good collection of short stories by a lot of really good authors:

Clive Barker, Poppy Z. Brite, Neil Gaiman, Steven King...
How the Day Runs Down by John Langan is a particularly good story, I recall, with a really strong monologue at one point.

It's available on the Kindle for $2.99, which is a steal considering it's almost 500 pages in my paperback format

I really enjoyed World War Z, even though it wasn't nearly as fast paced as most novels in the genre, I thought the satire and the interview style gave it something you don't see in a lot of genre fiction. Not to mention the raw "sample of humanity" feel. I teach senior lit in high school, and I did add it to the list of research topics this year; should be interesting to see what I get back.

I also really enjoyed The Living Dead. Even though it is a collection of short stories, I thought the variation was kind of interesting, and some of the stories were really well written.

Just popping in that you can get edited and refined versions of Sunstone on Amazon as paperback comics. 5 volumes of Lisa and Ally's story; plus he's started Volume 6 "Mercy" which is the first part of Alan and Anne's relationship. They're interconnected stories and he has plans for two more arcs as well. (Alan was with Ally first so it goes into the past to start with, explaining the Vol 6 cover).

Have a look at my bibliography. More for the movies than the novels. I basically enjoyed all the movies I had to watch. Either because they did their job as horror films and were moderately terrifying (Like the Spanish film Rec) or they were ridiculous and entertaining (Like Zombie Strippers) As for novels... Max Brooks is kind of a given for a favorite... and I think I said to someone else that my very favorite book was a collection of short stories... wasn't out until right around the time I had to finish my thesis... alas. But I loved a lot of the stories in it: The Living Dead

Edit for other movies: These came out after my thesis, but I love them all the same: Zombieland. Because duh. And Dead Snow. Who wouldn't love zombie nazis in the snowy mountains?

Try The Living Dead, if you liked World War Z. $7.99 ain't bad...

Also, if you of the mindset that you want to replace the dead tree version of the sci-fi/fantasy you already own, and aren't against torrenting, there is a torrent of "18K sci-fi/fantasy books". or something similar. I replaced a full bookcase of old books.

I think what really defined Garak the most was his mystery and his sexuality went hand in hand with that. I never really once thought about it honestly until someone brought it up. He had a very ingratiating manner about him but I just attributed that to him being straight up weird, weird like in the way a Dickens character might seem weird if you stuck him on a space station.

I think sometimes it comes down to being uncomfortable with being physical. For me, I have trouble touching people at all (my people are not very affectionate) and so for someone whom I am not well acquainted with to just hug/kiss me is incredibly uncomfortable. It's also a little uncomfortable being around someone who is very animated; I very honestly geek out about a lot of things and more than one bf has described me as "intense" and "tiring." I think the expectation is for two people to be casual but then this sort of weird energy comes from nowhere and it's hard to react to it. It's even worse when I start getting excited over something my bf doesn't really understand like say, going to a restaurant and them heating the plates correctly.

The HIV thing you shouldn't worry about. I know it sounds like a useless and glib piece of advice but unless you're having sex with someone who's infected, it's unlikely to get it. In the past two decades, infection rates have gone down a lot. I think it helps it to give it a human face too. I understand that people just feel the way they feel so I don't feel it's fair to be all righteously angry about it but I would urge you to just try to process it slowly. You're right in that there is no reason to talk about it unless it's specifically brought up but it is something you should consider exploring on your own.

Also, campy gay guys can be annoying just as anyone can be annoying. I think that in many instances, in order for them to survive and stay true to themselves, they really have to try very hard to establish a presence, to justify themselves and it can result in someone being very narcissistic/histrionic. It's very difficult to really pinpoint what it is sometimes but for me, I just try to mentally "re-frame" it: how would I react to this behaviour if it was a woman acting like this? if he were straight, what would his behaviour look like?

really? i would say this is a bigger bang for it's buck. i liked the survival guide immensely, but found world war z a bit laggy at times.

Was gerade animiert wird, ich lese selten LNs einfach nur so. Ich habe eine Art Hass-Liebe mit Light Novels, weil es zum einen sehr interessante Geschichten gibt, andererseits die meisten entweder miesgeschrieben, mies übersetzt oder beides sind. Schlimm ist es, wenn beides aufeinander trifft. Unglücklicherweise sind zudem die meisten Bücher die lizensiert werden allesamt absolut uninteressant oder "So bad, it's good" bestenfalls.

Violet Evergarden ist in dieser Hinsicht so in der Mitte. Die Serie wurde lange Zeit sehr gehypt, weil sie der erste und bisland einziger Sieger des Kyoto Animation Grand Prizes ist, und das obwohl die seit 2009 gibt. Zuvor gab es nur Honourable Mentions. Umso größer war die Entäuschung als die erste Folge der Anime-Serie rauskam. Ich habe nach ungefähr 4 Folgen begonnen das Buch zu lesen, weil zu dem Zeitpunkt nur so 2% der Anime-Serie auf der LN basierte. (Ja, die Light Novel, weil die Novelle). Insgesamt wars unterhaltsam, aber einige Aspekte fand ich einfach nur beschissen und auch als Buch wurde es der Ehre, einziger Grand Prize zu sein, nicht gerecht.

/r/LightNovels suche "Violet Evergarden pdf/epub" Du wirst keine legale englische oder deutsche Übersetzung finden. Das ist nicht immer so, aber bei japanischen Medien trotzdem etwas womit man sich abfinden muss, es gibt nur einen Bruchteil von allem legal.

(Lizensierte) Light Novel Serien, die ich empfehlen kann: Die Haruhi Suzumiya Series (Halb-Parodie des "Oh wir sind Schüler und retten nebenbei die Welt mit Superkräften), Spice and Wolf (Mittelalterliche Romanze), The Empty Box and The Zeroth Maria (Schwer zu beschreiben, Sci-Fi mit vielen Mind Games), The Saga of Tanya the Evil (Typ nervt Gott nach seinem Tod, also lässt Gott ihn in einem Nicht!1.WK als Magierin kämfen), KonoSuba (Irrsinning komische Parodie von Japano-RPG Klischees) oder OreGaIru (Wo ein Zyniker, eine Einkönigin und eine Normale zusammen erwachsen werden) Ich sollte aufhören, sonst sitz ich hier noch den halben Tag. Sind leider alle auf Englisch, da Light Novels auf Deutsch sich auf Müll wie SAO oder Accel World beschränken, bzw. die guten Serien längst nicht mehr gedruckt werden.
