Sweater dress looks great! I think it looks good with the belt but, in contrast to what you're seeing, I think it shows off your shape better without the belt. Also I associate white sweaters with holidays anyway so this is my vote.

Gold dress is super formal. I'm not educated enough to advise on the fit issue. It's a lovely dress though, just maybe a little OTT for a family gathering.

Navy and gold dress is super cute! This is my second choice after sweater dress. I would wear sheer tights with a little sparkle woven in. A gold/brown/taupe/nude-to-you closed toe shoe would work with sheers.

I have a question: I'm looking for opaque opaque OPAQUE black pantyhose, but since I'm pretty tall (5'9" @ 142lbs) they always seem to go a bit sheer - especially when I sit down. I mean, if I wanted to rock the sheer look, I woulda worn sheer pantyhose, right? Any suggestions on which brands I can try?? I want them to kinda/almost look like leggings, but I can't stand the way actual leggings feel under a skirt. Plus, I think that looks funny. As in funny weird.

But while I'm here, I have a quick announcement: I'm a HUGE fan of the Donna Karan "The Nudes" hosiery!! It feels WONDERFUL on your legs, and looks invisible to many - unless you look way up close. Plus, they make your legs look flawless for miles and miles and miles :)

   Anniversary story -- it's happening right now :) My husband has never been awesome at gifts, and he's always felt really bad about it. I'm certainly no fashionista but here's some ideas

A more casual look you might enjoy is wearing tights under shorts. It still has the coverage, but looks more summery due to the shorts.

I would also recommend colored tights in different colors, especially under lace tights.

You might try circle skirts/A-line skirts/more casual dresses.

u/re_mix gifted me because someone who was not a member of RAOA made fun of the first item I ever gifted : ( It was such a nice thing to do because I was feeling a little down about it and she picked me spirits right back up.

I would definitely go with some awesome tights, maybe the kind with a seam down the back like this. Or black polka dotted ones...but I'm partial to polka dots. I don't know if it really needs a belt, but you could do a blazer that's a little shiny, or that's a little tuxedo-y, maybe something like this.

Sparkly jewelry, or pearls could look nice. Shoes, you could do anything...black pumps are standard, but maybe some sassy ones would be cute. I like these. You should post pics once you get the outfit together! I'd be curious to see how you end up accessorizing that dress...it could go so many directions.

By the way, I had found a pair of stockings similar to this back in 2015. I got 'em for a female friend of mine and when she put them on to take the picture she said they were really, really comfortable, though they had some issues staying up since the "garter belt" portion is not quite tight enough. I think they'd be a good addition for you. Not quite as high-quality as the stockings in these pictures, but they're definitely different!

In any case, you gotta get someone with a good lighting setup and a nice high-end camera for some good pinups!

Get these cute bat socks because I also have them on my wishlist and THEY ARE SOOOOOO CUTE! Plus, tights like that are really good quality. I have pair made of the same material and they're not as flimsy as you think. But mainly, they are just kawaii as fuck. And bats are awesome.

I live in tights - for every day wear, while playing roller derby, basically anytime I go out in something other than yoga clothes! I second the advise on choosing the dark of two colors if you feel one could be too light - otherwise you'll look chalky. I prefer control top and will sometime buy the tall/plus sized hose just because they are easier to get on and off, especially with Hanes - but I'm a muscular size 12, so that's makes a difference. The Spanx work for "daily wear" but not for derby or with shorts for me.....

Where can I buy white thigh high stockings that won’t fall down?

I enjoy wearing thigh high stockings casually and in the bedroom but they keep sliding down my legs because they either don't wrap around my thigh tightly enough or the silicone band that wraps around my thighs are too weak. The only stockings that have stayed up for me is the Sofsy thigh highs but they don't come in white.

Are there any stockings that you can recommend that come in white? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

The garment shown in the original picture covers the body from the waist to the feet. The top half is sheer, but unquestionably present. It looks like most of these are being marketed as "tights" and not "pantyhose", but they are not stockings.

  Why would it? It's a recent fashion trend, meant to emulate Japan's Zettai Ryoiki look without requiring garters, tight tops, or stay-ups. You'd be more likely to find it under "thigh highs" or Zettai Ryoiki. It's not really relevant whether it's "a thing", though -- it's what the girl in OP's picture is wearing.

  Pack it up and go home everyone, I was wrong. Despite selling enough volume to be manufactured by Leg Avenue, carried by Hot Topic, Amazon, and Sock Dreams, these are "not a thing". You can tell, because nobody searches for them on YouTube.

I'm probably going to wear a pair of nude dance tights. I get super dry itchy skin and it never quite looks super smooth and while I normally don't care if I'm dressing up I prefer to wear tights.

They're actually pretty comfy and I really like the way they smooth out my legs and give it a little color. Also, another big thing for me is that if your thighs rub together they can help protect against chub rub.

So they're not the cheapest thing on the face of the planet, but Glamory Perfect20 Stockings are pretty opaque, matte thigh highs that come in a "make-up" color to match (white) skin tones. I love mine. They feel really nice and stay up all day.

They also apparently make these guys that are pantyhose as opposed to stockings and 70 denier which would very opaque. I cannot, however, speak to how those look or feel because I don't own them.

I do however, own the hold-ups and another pair of stockings from them and have found them to be quite good quality and with a lot of sizes.

Edit to Add: If you haven't heard of them, there's a business called Sock Dreams that has SO MANY OPTIONS for all things sock and hosiery, maybe you can find something there.
