I ordered this Haggar blazer about a month ago, and couldn't be more happy with it. It shipped folded up in a very small package, but completely wrinkle-free.

Looks great with both dress slacks and jeans, and I don't mean that it looks great "for travel clothing". It's honestly better than many of my nice wool jackets, straight up.

A quick search on Amazon popped up with a couple suits they make using the same materials. They're probably just as good, but I can't speak to them directly.

Well, with no budget presented, I will give my opinion about what to spend, since there is already a lot about what to wear and how not to wear common things.

Set a budget for some new wardrobe items, say $300. Now triple or quadruple that for the next year and you will have an idea of how much it will cost to get that $300 worth of new items... Sounds crazy, but between colors that look great on a rack, horrible on you, fit, fabric textures and the other myriad of things you will discover, choose, discard and come back to, it is accurate in my experience.

Give yourself a break and set a long term goal of looking better everyday. This will help in everything from work to the personal life, after all, everywhere you go, there you are...

One thing, get a blazer and incorporate it into your look. For the money this Haggar travel blazer is a good choice. One color, very wrinkle resistant and a multitude of sizes, goes with jeans or chinos... Uniqlo, Bannana republic and many other places have great blazers too, but for the money, this Haggar one has done me great service and is available in a slim fit too. I live in the Desert SW, and this is light enough for even summer wear.

I need a suggestion for a blazer or sport coat for a new job I might be getting. It's in IT sales, talking to a lot of directors and managers on a regular basis doing presentations and things. Definitely new grounds for me compared to my head-down behind a screen working style I'm used to now.

Need to dress it up a bit and want to really impress, but I don't want to feel stuffy or over-dressed wearing a full suit with matching trousers, it definitely needs to be more business attire though, but not quite "smart casual" if you know what I mean. Most of the places around here the normal office work wear is chinos and a button up casual pattern shirt.

My plan is to find an over coat that I can wear over a long-sleeve button up with chinos or kahkis. I hardly ever wear a tie, but I want it to work with one if needed. So I guess I just want something that is well fitted, versatile, can go with a lot of outfits, and is somewhat neutral. Not necessarily super traditional and formal, but not flashy patterns or anything either. Probably a charcoal, dark gray, or navy blazer or sport jacket is what I'm thinking.

I'm a relatively short 5'7" skinny guy with light skin if that helps lol. All suggestions are welcome! Would like to keep it around $100 if possible. Thanks in advance guys!

This is what I've looked at so far but no idea what the fit/finish would be and if these are decent. Just to give you an idea of the price I'm looking at. Any suggestions are welcome!

If you like the jacket, I’d wear it like the model with a white t shirt underneath.

Try this in the wheat

U.S. Polo Assn. Men's Corduroy Sport Coat RAM1011J Wheat, 48 Long https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M4LXMFS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_9Dw7BbWVFZKB8

Some dark jeans, chukka boots or oxfords, and a t shirt or a button up like this

IZOD Men's Big and Tall Long Sleeve Oxford Plaid Shirt, Saltwater red, 2X-Large https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079PTJFV7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_FFw7BbNG2N4NZ

Or solid colors like this
Ralph Lauren Long Sleeve Classic Fit Mens Shirt, Windsor Navy, XL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0156XTKRO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_cJw7BbFAEJRH4

Here’s some shoes that are reasonable

Clarks Men's Grandin Plain Oxford, Dark tan Leather, 9 M US https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078HYQZNL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_vGw7BbJTZM323

And then you’ll have a fantastic business casual outfit and pieces you can build off of.

This outfit is insanely popular on r/malefashionadvice and r/TwoBudgetsOneLook so I thought I’d offer my take – 3 options / price ranges for each item (I’ve tried to use options available in both UK and US).

I haven’t included the long-sleeved Henley shirt since you can get them basically anywhere.
I also haven’t included the scarf (it’s just a brown scarf lol).
I’ve included the watches separately (in the second two) as they add disproportionate cost to the outfits and aren’t essential.

The Shotgun is Anderson Wheeler, and costs over £40,000.

Thanks to /u/zgoos for advice on shotgun alternatives.

CZ Sharptail $999

Beretta 486 Parallelo $5,350

Also disclaimer - even if you buy everything I’ve listed here it won’t automatically make you look like Daniel Craig. Cheers!

You bring some very relevant points to the metaphorical table. I think I shall reconsider what I will replace my aging leather jacket with. I'm leaning toward getting one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/High-end-Double-Breasted-Badges-Leather/dp/B00MIGPWVQ/ref=sr_1_99?ie=UTF8&qid=1419658382&sr=8-99&keywords=men%27s+long+coat

I looks like a happy medium between a regular leather jacket and a knee length coat that looks like is from a spy movie. Thank you again for the intelligent feedback. Do you have any further points to offer?

I have my nephew's wedding in December. Due to a variety of med issues have been out of work (but back). I do have a suit I used for intrviews but it is at least 7 years old and I was a good 50 lbs heavier then.

Question, I have kackis. Would it be acceptable for me to just get a blazer and were kackis, blazer and tie? Thanks.

I have [this]( https://www.amazon.com/Casual-Button-Blazer-302-Navy/dp/B00Z6XFUU6?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2 ) blazer in mind, what do you all think?

u/sfzen · 0 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I bought this FLATSEVEN linen blazer recently, and I love it. But the only pants I have that look good with it are nice jeans. What else works well? The color is a bit lighter grey than the pictures show, much closer to a brushed steel kind of color, if that makes any sense.

u/iwasapenguin · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

If cold weather calls for it, I would start with something basic, such as a grey herringbone topcoat/overcoat, maybe with a scarf?

Here's the first thing I found on Google: http://www.amazon.com/Tommy-Hilfiger-Bleeker-Herringbone-Topcoat/dp/B00MHP7XBK

Cheers and best of luck.

Very fine wool suiting, possibly even camel hair. Yes it really comes from camels, just like sheep wool but SOFTER. The folded arm view lets you see how much beautiful drape it has. https://www.amazon.com/LN-LUCIANO-NATAZZI-Luxurious-Blazer/dp/B00AP6S880?th=1

I worked in a men’s suit store at one point and often ran into this. I always really liked dark pants with the dark grey jacket. The graphite sport coat or suit jacket looks really good over a dark pair of jeans. Damn near any button up shirt can go with it to make it casual or formal. The real trick is finding one you feel comfortable in and feel confident that you’d wear it again. Some tailoring may be required no matter what you end up with.
Here’s an idea I have...

amazon

u/leftybanks · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I wouldn't be surprised if this was a custom job but regardless, it looks like a play on a naval captain's uniform with its epaulets and gold buttons. Something like this.

u/Chaoss780 · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

New Blazer got good reviews on Amazon, it's a pretty fair price. No idea about the brand however, would like another opinion.

u/TCnup · 3 pointsr/transistor

I actually am helping my friend do a Boxer cosplay. I found a good base jacket on Amazon here. Obviously you will have to modify it for the triangle on the back, but it's a good start.

You can see in the ending scroll of images that he appears wearing a white dress shirt (he appears with and without a dark tie, but most often without), black dress pants, and his hands/arms wrapped in boxing bandages. His feet aren't ever shown clearly but you can't go wrong with black dress shoes.

u/windsostrange · 7 pointsr/malefashionadvice

The terms are pretty confusing for anyone. Think of most men's jackets as being in three categories:

  • suit jackets [example]: The most formal of the three. Always in a matched pair with pants. Structured. Has shoulder padding. Is usually too stiffly formal to really work well on its own.
  • blazers [example]: A standalone garment. Less dressy than a suit. Has a naval history, and so is often in navy blues, and often has brass buttons. Often the top portion of a uniform.
  • sport jackets/sportcoat [example]: The least formal. Often unstructured, and with no padding. Often tweedy or patterned; contrast with the common navy blue of the blazer above. Derived from hunting jackets of the past. Looks great paired with almost anything: dress shirts, tee shirts, dress pants, jeans, chinos.

When you say "casual" blazer, I immediately think of a sportcoat, but that's just me. You'll notice that many people use these terms pretty interchangeably. It's a wild world.

I'm about to pull the trigger on this Levi's Trucker: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Levis-Trucker-Sleeve-Jacket-Stonewash/dp/B00VLNZ9PG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450640679&sr=8-1&keywords=levi%27s+trucker

In regards to sizing - I usually wear a medium in OCBDs, but for something like a flannel I'll size up to a large and it won't look to big on me. I know it's not much to go on, but do you guys think I should go with the medium trucker or large? Based on what I've seen about how denim jackets should fit, I'm thinking about going for the medium.

Guys - First time caller, long time listener. I just bought a couple of these sportcoats. The one with patch pockets I bought, which is being returned because it is EURO sized was made in ITALY, and the material was extremely nice. Unlined jacket, 100% wool, lined sleeves. Perfect 3 season jacket.
