Welcome to the Club of Awesome!

I highly recommend Assetto Corsa VR for some excellent racing action, and From Other Suns is proving to be pretty fun. If you want to pony up some more money immediately, get Lone Echo and Raw Data as well, they are amazingly good.

Also, get this. Trust me, with that small amount of real-estate on your desk in that photo, you're going to want it.

Finally, I recommend getting some security camera mounts that the Rift sensors thread into and then putting those up on your walls, in a 90º configuration approx. 7-8 feet up and 15 or so feet apart. It makes a huge difference to room-scale activity.

This is my oculus room setup. Most of the details are with the photo, but basically 7' wide x 10' deep room with sensors wall mounted 56' apart. My center is the back left corner of the mat. Right sensor tilted down to all better chair game tracking for things like "I expect you to die". When my back sensor gets here I think it will be perfect. This is more than enough room for any oculus game and any Steam game I have tried. Here is the link to the wall mounts I used...highly recommend them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000IDBXBO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is the most common one I use, it's about 1" across. They make several different sizes, but this one is the most useful. The bigger one I have has a fat handle and doesn't get into a lot of areas I need it in.

Other folks make a similar tool, but I think this one's made better, the tip kinda makes a U shape over the handle part where the other brands are just glued on basically. I have the Mac set and broke it several times before getting the SS brand ones.

You have to be careful with them, because they're sharp and will scratch, but just make sure it's flat on the surface and you're golden. Pulling backward works best to prevent scratching.

Mount the Rift camera on the wall above monitor. Motion tracking difference is noticable. I was getting slight drift i the rift. But, when I mounted it to the wall, not ony does it capture more area of the room, but it is so much more stable and tracking is better.

I am using this:

I have an Arlo Pro system with three cameras I'm looking to sell. All the cameras come with fully functioning batteries and work very well. I have black silicone protectors that will come with the system. I chose these to help protect them from the weather and because they don't provide any glare like other protectors. I also have Wasserstein Quick Charge 3.0 Power Adapter Compatible with Arlo Pro, Pro 2, Go, Weatherproof .

For the full kit, valued at $375 new I'm asking $300.

Wyze cams are very cheap and reliable as well as highly reccomended. There's a r/wyzecam, because of course there is, LOL...

Wyze Cams are incredibly affordable:

Pan & Zoom model $37.98

Wyze Cam V2 $25.98 plus 20% off now

The cameras are made for indoor use only use only, however can be mounted outside with a skin purchased separately. Both models have birdhouse skins (links below) but they're not as invisible as the ideas posted on the Wyze forum and subreddit.

I also came across this great post on the Wyze Cam Forum to add an extra layer of protection againdt the elements using a trimmed balloon. Lots of ideas for hiding in plain sight.

Pan & Zoom - $13.99

Wyze Cam V2 Birdhouse Suction Cup Mount $12.99 / 1 or $18.99 / 2

I hope this helps!

If your cameras have the magnetic mount you can generally get a better secured mount for them. We didn't feel secure with the magnetic mounts so we got these from Amazon:

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B074M8HXS2

Not 100% secure but way more secure than a grab like in the video. Plus you can get different silicone skins so they blend in and aren't so obvious.

u/DeadLeftovers · 1 pointr/oculus

So the 5ft isn't really necessary? About the best I could do is 3 feet with it placed on the wall above my monitor.

I plan on using this unless anyone has any better suggestions.

You still might want to look into POE cameras, you will have to power the camera, so might as well send data back through the same cable. Once you select a camera I would try one of these heated enclosures and try to stick it in an area like an eve that is as protected as possible and will not be encrusted in snow. https://www.amazon.com/HBPRO-601HB-Outdoor-CCTV-Camera-Housing/dp/B0010ENHKK

Tapcons with these mounts. I have four outdoor pros on these and they work great.

Security Metal Wall Mount- Adjustable Indoor/Outdoor Mount Compatible With Arlo, Arlo Pro, Arlo Pro 2 and Other Compatible Models — by Wasserstein (3 Pack, White) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073XLYJGT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_os2aBbZQXY0J4

u/ManyMacaron · 1 pointr/wyzecam

Sorry for slow reply. I'm primarily in Canada so I found these the best:

https://www.amazon.ca/Bracket-COOWUFAN-Weather-Protective-Adjustable/dp/B07T3WXZV1/ref=sr_1_11?keywords=wyze+cam&qid=1565131300&s=gateway&sr=8-11

They seal up very well. I was finding with some of the others I would have to add some silicone caulking to keep it fully waterproof.

u/battle_cattle · 4 pointsr/raspberry_pi

Here is my suggestion

u/Jonass480 · 2 pointsr/homeautomation

Here is a outdoor enclosure mount from a third party seller on amazon. It’s mostly just a hood, but yeah no dedicated one made by wyze yet.

u/SpaceNinjaBear · 1 pointr/oculus

I picked up some Arlo wall mounts for my sensors which work great, but I'm considering returning them. They're basically overkill for my uses. Considering getting these instead. They're a good bit cheaper and look to do the same job.

I'm also using the velcro Command strips. Even if the wall mounts have a concave base, you can set the strips at an angle covering the screw holes and still get a firm hold on the wall.

u/Wholenchilada · 1 pointr/arlo

Here you go. Amazon has various models.

Get something like this like me and you are good to go:
Wyze Cam Wall Mount, Caremoo... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SPT8YV3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

u/EldeederSFW · 1 pointr/oculus

Yup! I did know that. Best Buy near me did not carry the lone sensor. Long story short, I talked the manager into giving me the touch controllers for $75. (A giftcard fiasco I can explain if you really want me to) Only $15 more than the lone sensor. Now the touch package doesn't come with the extension cord that the lone sensor does, but it was like $8 from Amazon.

But yeah, you're right. I bought my oculus right after the last Echo Arena open Beta, and after seeing all the pics of broken crap on here, I though an extra set of controllers might not be a bad idea.

As far as ceiling mounts, another thing no one ever told me is how the sensors unscrew from the base. I thought the head came off, that isn't the case. The post separates about 1.5 inches below the head. So you have a pretty standard 1/4 20 "camera" mount to work with, and still have the full motion of the head once it is attached. I assume you're in the UK because you used the pound symbol, so here is this.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Metal-Security-Housing-Bracket-Camera/dp/B006Z70X36/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499640252&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=BeElion%28TM%29+Metal+CCD+Security+Housing+Mount+Bracket

Let me know if you have any other questions, I'm kinda the /r/oculus idiot. It's nice to know someone can learn from my mistakes. Cheers!

Edit: I wanted to add that mount link I posted DOES include the mounting hardware (3 screws, 3 anchors) not that you really need the anchors.

u/IOnceLurketNowIPost · 1 pointr/3Dprinting

I use this one and have glued magnets in various places. It is cheap, convenient, and effective I think.

u/Saerain · 1 pointr/oculus

Nice, they look comparable to the ones I bought for $12 each.

u/Andrewtek · 1 pointr/oculus

I used these ones. They come in a two pack for $12.99. Convenient for a two sensor setup like mine.

u/Neonridr · 1 pointr/oculus

these would work fine. The ball head even swivels to one side so you can really get all sorts of different angles. If you can reach you could mount these upside down on your ceiling and angle them down towards you.

u/Jackrabbit710 · 1 pointr/oculus

I bought one of these and used Velcro adhesive strips
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B006Z70X36?ref_=pe_1365641_54848841
Solid so far! Going to put a sticky cable holder underneath as backup just incase

u/SwissMoose · 2 pointsr/oculus

They seem to be. You could use 2-3 on some kind of ball camera mount and then additional strips down the cable at intervals. Would be unlikely that you would lose them all at once. USB cameras are pretty durable anyways.

u/BringerMC · 2 pointsr/oculus

I used same brand as Joel but different style. They also have them in black but I got these as would blend with my wall more. Wall Mounts I Used!
