I don't have a dedicated prepping bag but I do have quite an extensive EDC bag that I carry with me all the time.

It could serve as a GHB but I'm not relying on it for any particular scenario; it's just my EDC.

My town has population of 200,000 and I live in the middle of it, so a very urban setting. My typical day involves travel less than a mile away from home.

5.11 Tactical Bail Out Bag.

I like this bag because it's a good size , easy to organise, easy to customise and doesn't look all that interesting to casual observers. It's also well made and ambidextrous. Could do with a carry handle though. I've been thinking of adding one.

Weight: kitchen scales tell me it's just under 3kg (6.6lbs) loaded as you see here (including the water).

I've walked 15 miles with this on my shoulder pretty much nonstop - no aching at all during the walk or the next day (well, no aching on my shoulder anyway, my feet were a different story.)

FAK Pouch

  • 2x medium dressing+bandages
  • 1x large dressing+bandages
  • lots of bandaids
  • first aid booklet
  • valved ffp3 mask with fit instructions (not first aid exactly; carried to mitigate tear gas and inhalation of fumes due to building collapse)
  • triangular bandage + safety pin
  • resuscitation mask
  • whistle
  • led light
  • nitrile gloves (blue)
  • disposable razor

    Other pouch

  • card wallet (need a new one)
  • change wallet (ditto)
  • phone

    Front pouch #1

  • I use it for dog toys and bags, but only when walking the dog so mostly it's spare.

    Front pouch #2

  • Spare socks. Room for gloves or hat too (not both) but it's not winter.

    Front pouch #3

  • 750ml (28oz) wide mouth Tritan water bottle

    Interior - attached to webbing

  • Spyderco UKPK
  • Gerber pocket sharpener (which I would only use in an emergency, prefer the sharpmaker or DC4)
  • Cyalume 12 hour glowstick
  • Cable ties (zipties) x4, 30cm each (Don't know why really)

Keychain (attached to pouch loop via McGizmo clip and split ring. All items quick-detach apart from keys)

  • ResQMe seatbelt cutter & glass breaker
  • Fenix E01
  • Sharpie mini marker
  • Victorinox Classic

Inner bag-in-bag, bright orange to help see my stuff

  • Pen
  • Bic lighter x2
  • Notepad (held together with sexy pink hair band, oh yes.)
  • Signal mirror
  • Purell alcohol based hand sanitiser (I use this all the time).
  • Local street atlas (not shown)
  • Hayfever tablets (loratadine)
  • Playing cards
  • Petzl eLite emergency headtorch (not pictured because I forgot to get it out)
  • strong carrier bag, folded
  • Garbage sacks x10 (we call them bin bags in the UK)
  • about 3 meters of paracord (I honestly don't find it that useful)

    On my person

I don't like having things in my pockets (hence the bag really), so:

  • Multitool
  • Wrist watch
  • Spare house key in multitool belt pouch

    To be added later:

  • Compass (the Silva Voyager 9020 looks ideal to me)
  • Duct tape
  • Dedicated spare money
  • Scissors for FAK
  • Painkillers for FAK

    Considering for future

  • Swimming goggles for tear gas / dust protection (is that excessive?)
  • Sunglasses
  • Some sort of food (but would one or two battered energy bars really ever be that useful?)

tldr: I like bags so I put a bag in my bag, filled with plastic bags so I can bag while I bag.

Look up Top Shelf Bar Supply tools on Amazon. Great quality & relatively affordable. Aforementioned Cocktail Kingdom products are also great.

I carry 2x each shakers, spoons, strainers, jiggers & wine keys, a paring knife, bar blade, zester, and muddler in this affordable Dopp bag which I really like. It has pockets for gloves/other things I like to keep on hand and there’s more than enough room for everything I have or might want to add. Used to have a roll but I like the zip bag better, it’s faster for me to setup/breakdown and more compact in tight spaces.

The best part about having your own kit is getting to use the tools you like & are accustomed to no matter what bar you’re working at. Good luck!

Edited to add I love these paring knives. $4-7 each, great for citrus and stay sharp for ages.

u/BubbleBathBetch · 6 pointsr/LawSchool

I second what other people said about nice tabs, highlighters, and pens. You can never have enough during your 1L year.

I also second a nice briefcase, specifically one that can comfortably and securely hold his laptop. I came into my 1L year with just a backpack and extremely casual purses. I had to go out and buy myself an nice purse during orientation week because they hosted a formal meet-and-greet with faculty and local attorneys. It definitely would have been nice to have had it beforehand.

Other suggestions:

Coffee K-cups, creamer (the liquid ones in the
tiny plastic cups), and a Fordham mug. My school has a keurig and I always keep these items in my locker.

Speaking of my locker, the best thing I ever did was buy a small mirror to hang inside. In law school, you're always on the go, and I often found myself needing to glance in a mirror to assure that I looked presentable for spontaneous events. I purchased this one and it's wonderful.

I also made an "law school emergency kit" for my locker... seeing that I basically lived there. I can't even tell you how many times I needed the items inside. Countless. At least twice a week. Various items included: chapstick, tweezers, toothbrush/toothpaste, Advil, mini deodorant, A LINT ROLLER, Tide to-go, bandaids, mints, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, a comb, a mini bottle of perfume, an extra phone charger, and a granola bar. I was able to squeeze all of this into a toiletry bag. Here's a nice one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M69R2WA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_zQplzbGBDHBF6

This is all assuming that he has a locker. I hope he does... all those books are extremely heavy. He's also going to need a lock for his locker, as well as a picture of you guys to put inside the door. :)

I've been traveling a lot for both leisure and work lately, so I've been sharing travel routines on Instagram. But my basic philosophy is to focus on decants and deluxe samples, and pack as much stuff that doesn't have to be in a 3-1-1 bag (i.e., sheet masks, etc.). I got these airless pump/spray bottles (pumps for cleanser/cream, sprays for toners) and like them well enough, but one of them has either broke or is incompatible with Liquid Gold's consistency. I got a deluxe sample of Clinique TTDO balm recently and have kept using the jar for my own homemade cleansing balm as I've used up the original sample. And I got a deluxe sample of Drunk Elephant glycolic serum to pack instead of actives (I also use it as a spot treatment). I also have a 0.5-oz. tube of Erborian BB and CC Cremes that I can bring for makeup, but I tend to keep makeup as minimal as possible to allow more room for skin care. I also will forgo non-active serums in favor of hydration, and then use a sheet mask if I want an extra boost. Also, I make sure to bring COSRX Acne patches. And I sprang for a reusable travel bag instead of using a baggie -- at the very least, I don't have to worry about a helpful hotel cleaning staff person throwing it out if I leave it empty on the vanity!

When I did a trans-Atlantic flight to the U.K., I did sheet mask and do a routine on the way there, but I didn't on the way back (mostly because we got stuck in the U.K. due to the British Airways bug and I ran through all my extra stash). When I'm not doing a routine on a flight, I make sure to add extra hydration and seal it in with an occlusive before the flight. I also always travel with a make-up-free face.

My next challenge is going to be going on a trip without my husband, as the last few times we traveled, I relied on him to bring unglamorous things like deodorant, but next time I travel, I have to bring this myself.

As far as sunscreen, I pack face sunscreen and buy sunscreen at my destination. I can easily go through a 4- or 8-oz. body sunscreen in a week, especially if the two of us are spending a lot of time outside. In Scotland, we didn't end up using everything because it rained a lot (i.e., we were inside), but I gave my half-empty bottle to my sister when our paths crossed in Inverness because she complained about getting sunburned.

So yeah, I still have at least two more business trips this summer, plus at least one weekend trip to the in-laws' house. I'm sure I'll post on Instagram for specifics.

I have this great bag meant for travel, but I use it around the house because I've got two puppies that I need to keep an eye on all the time. It's super durable and reasonably priced, seems like it would be easy to clean with a magic eraser or something, and has lots of pockets and spots for brushes. It's awesome!! Has a handle on top, and the large zippered flap on top has a hook built in to hang it if you don't have counter space for it.

I do my whole routine, pretty much. I do replace my double cleanse with cleansing tissues (I use an oil based one - Skinfood Black Sugar Oil Cleansing Cloths, followed by a water-based - La Roche Posay Effaclar cloths). Then my whole routine I decant into smaller sized bottles for carryon:

  • I like these types of bottles for my carry on liquids - variable sizes mean I can put items like my facial oil in smaller bottles
  • This bag can fit my whole routine, including my sunscreen and foundation

My routine decanted is as follows:

  • CosRx Galactomyces Essence as FTE (decanted to 30mL)
  • Whamisa Deep Rich Toner (decanted to 10 mL)
  • Benton Snail Bee Essence (not decanted)
  • Stratia Rewind (decanted to 10mL)
  • Dr Jart Ceramidin Liquid (decanted to 30 mL)
  • 2-3 drops of facial oil - I like Banila Co Miss Flower Mr Honey oil but I believe it's discontinued. I also like generic Camellia Oil from Garden of Wisdom (decanted to 10mL)
  • Sheet mask (I like MBD masks for air travel - they contain enough essence that they don't dry out. I will often do 2 sheet masks on a long haul flight)
  • Benton Snail Bee Steam Cream (not decanted - original container is perfect for travel!)
  • CosRx Honey Overnight Mask (decanted into an old, sanitized sample size of Sulwhasoo Ginseng Concentrated Cream or similar small container)

Hey! Of course :)

I actually use two H&M cosmetic bags atm - one for brushes and the makeup sponge, one for makeup. I've actually been thinking for a long time now that I'd like to get a bigger makeup bag that is able to stay up on a flat surface. I've heard a lot of good things about Ted Baker cosmetic bags, especially about their size, and when I found one with a hefty Black Friday discount, I finally caved in and ordered it yesterday. Alas, they are quite expensive in full prize, but if you are able to buy one on sale I'd recommend it. I'm sure I'll get years worth of use out of it. Doesn't hurt that I find it aesthetically pleasing as well!

On a side note, I saw this video a while back and I remember thinking that the first girl had a really amazingly compact cosmetics bag. Apparently her bag is this which is way out of my price range. But someone in the comments linked a more affordable "dupe" for it. If you're packing enough makeup to supply the contestants for RuPaul's next Drag Race season, then something similar to this might be the best option!

u/nekkyo · 1 pointr/HerOneBag

I like your magnetic palette. Which size is it?

If you're trying to reduce, here are some ideas. :)

Do you need all those brushes? I'm currently using these Sephora larger set and eye set. I only carry the larger handle since the eye set works with the small end of it. Totals about 60g for 11 brushes. I'm currently carrying the eye brush heads in a small pillbox, but I'm thinking of just putting them in a mini ziplock instead. The big brush heads and handle I just dump them into my makeup bag.

Do you need a full size eyelash curler? I like this one.

Do you need the spare mirror? Your compact seems to already have one.

Do you need a dual sharpener? It makes sense if you carry different size pencils and it can do both. If you only need one size, there are smaller options.

How long are you traveling for? Will you realistically use all the q-tips? I budget about 1.5 - 2 per day.

I find store bought travel size liquids are often still too much product for the duration of the trip. Consider decanting liquids into mini bento sauce bottles 12 ml and 5 ml. You can probably decant your facial spray into a spray bottle like the mini green one you have. I found similar spray bottles at Walgreens and the Container Store.

How many razors do you need? I see a full size disposable and the mini Venus. I carry the mini Venus, but I tossed out the case and keep the blade in the little container refill comes in; I keep it closed with a mini rubber hair band.

Do you need all four alligator clips? Is there a smaller clip you can substitute? Do you need to use a curling iron or hot roller set while traveling? It might make sense for your lifestyle and hair type, but have you considered sleeping in braids to get a similar texture?

Your makeup bag looks bulky to begin with. How heavy is it? I'm currently using an Eagle Creek Specter Toiletry bag. I also like using mini black rubber bands to keep similar items together.

Instead of carrying a full bottle of Neosporin, what about a packet from a first aid kit? I actually put together a really compact first aid kit using little packets of medicine like these.

I don't advocate giving up beauty luxuries while traveling, but there's always a way to optimize your load. :)

u/emdarko · 3 pointsr/Shoestring

Pack light at first. You can buy what you need when you get there. When I was traveling for several months, I went through a few different wardrobes as everything got worn down rather quickly from wearing it so frequently. I stuck with two pairs of pants, three t shirts (one long sleeve), 3 pairs of socks, one beanie, 5 pairs of underwear, one sweater, and a windbreaker. I had a scarf I tied onto one of the backpack strap as well and doubled it as a head pillow for trains/busses.

Do you already have your backpack? If not, I’d recommend checking out your local army surplus. I took a military grade backpack and was able to strap this to the bottom: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015XJ1ALU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_66B4Bb9BDNMN1

Best investment of my entire trip for sure. That and some decent rubber boots. I looked at a lot of hiking boots, but since I wasn’t anticipating a crazy amount of mountain terrain activities, I went with some rubber slip on boots similar to the chelsea style. They were versatile enough for going out and adventuring in cities or rural areas. I hung my converse off of the back too.

Also be hella vigilant on busses and trains. Nap on top of your backpack so if anyone tries to fuck with your stuff, you’ll wake up. Try and make your longer travels overnight so you can save on room and board. Station subs are the bomb.

Message me if you want any more assistance!!!! I was a solo female traveler at age 20. I learned A LOT of valuable lessons :)

MARVEL MARVEL MARVEEEEELLLLL. I think that Marvel comics are more believable, as in they don't just get born with superpowers. LINK

Favourite hero is a toss up between Iron Man and Deadpool, because they're so damn sassy and smart. Favourite villan is Venom, I think, because I find it really cool and interesting. Also, Loki. Cause Loki.

I will be Sir Sassypants. /u/RedDeliBird will be Captain Encouragement, /u/Miss-Omnibus will be Mega Boobs ( . Y . ) and /u/WhiskeyandKittens will be the Cunt-Copter. ASSEMBLE!

My villan of choosing shall be /u/whorecrux, who is a voldemort-like character who sleeps with hookers and then turns them into horcruxes. And the only way to destroy her is to murder all 52 of the hookers, but the fun part is not knowing which ones they are.

Bonus: DC is Batman, Marvel is Captain America :)

u/Arold_Jr · 2 pointsr/Switch

I was interested in the same kind of case as you, but didn't find anything as well. I don't know if you found something interesting by now but a toiletry bag is quite a good option to carry just the four controllers in your bag, and you can have the Switch in its case aside.

Here is my toiletry bag holding 4 pro controllers

And here's how it looks all packed up

And if you want to carry the dock with your four controllers, you could also buy something like this and put your dock inside the third pocket.

Here's the link to buy the same bag as mine if you're interested.

u/DragonBorn76 · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

Buy bottle water to wash your face with.

I'm not sure about over seas water in hotels but I travel pretty frequently and find that water in hotels dry my skin out terribly. At one hotel I had to even use bottled water to wash my hands because it was March ( winter air ) and my skin was drying out so bad from just washing my hands after using the bathroom.

Buy Evian travel size spray mists. It's really helpful on the plane when the air is so dry .

Since you are going to be there for 3 months just buy what you need when you get there. As others said, don't experiment while you there. 3 months is enough time IMO for you to go through the products you buy and you don't need to worry about packing them.

I found this travel bag to be awesome

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LY8TCIC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I like it because it hangs and can help keep things off the counter.

I travel a good bit (for work and fun) and I’ve gotten good at this.

This toiletry bag is my favorite. Fits a lot of items and doesn’t take up a ton of space. Even my hair brush fits inside and a full sized can of dry shampoo.

And these bottles from Target are my favorite. I’ve never had a leak and they are easy to clean!

I put all my liquids in a ziplock inside of the toiletry bag, I often need to do this for TSA anyway so it’s become habit.

u/Cukimonster · 2 pointsr/Wishlist

Oh we are about to drive 14 hours to see family and pick my sister and niece up, since they’re moving in with us. What am I packing? It could be easier to ask what I’m not packing lol.

But one thing for me is that I have to have all 3 of my at home pillows. I sleep so poorly, anywhere but home means the minimum, so my pillows help me cope.

And I just realized this is more what you meant. I’d love to have these to save room!

u/beitz67 · 1 pointr/fitness30plus

My wife saw them at the dollar store and thought I might like them. I don't use them too much, but they are basically baby wipes without baby smell. These are made by Assured, named Body Wipes for Sports

They smell ok. It's not like you're instantly all clean either, but can help a bit with the pits and help you feel less grungy..

I have 2 of them and you can fit so much stuff in them it is ridiculous. I just took one with me on a trip and packed 5 pallets, 2 foundations, concealer, setting powder, baking powder, 2 beauty blenders, 2 blushes, 5 Stila liquid eyeshadows, 4 liquid lips, 2 mascaras, setting spray, eyeliner, and 3 highlighters in it. Because I’m not good at predicting what I’ll want to wear over a weekend. I’ve checked them in luggage with no issues, but I prefer to keep them in carry on. As long as you’re not throwing them around they’re very well insulated so I’ve never had any breakage with them. I’ve flown half way across the world and back with them in the past 3 years I’ve been using them as well, so I think that’s pretty good.

This quart travel bag should be on everyone's shopping list. It holds so much more than a ziplock, and it's clearly marked as being TSA approved. To be honest the first couple times I tossed it in the bin to be scanned I was certain TSA would object, but it always goes through just fine. I've used mine for over a year, maybe 20+ flights and 80-120 nights, the zipper still functions and it's held up great.

I bought an Amazon Basics hanging toiletry bag, https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-ZH1501159R1-Hanging-Toiletry-Kit/dp/B00WTHIVHQ.

In it, comfortably, are full sizes of:

I also have five sheet masks in there.

u/pandamerica · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I have this toiletry bag from muji which I've been really liking. I either leave it on the bathroom counter or hang it and don't bother unpacking it. I like that all my bottles (serums, nasal sprays lol, micellar water) stay upright if I have enough in there. I HATE dopp kits where everything rolls around and I have to dig to find anything. I bought it in store and it's WAY expensive on amazon. This looks very similar.

For things that are in big containers/not too runny (moisturizer, curology, aquaphor, tinted moisturizer, eye cream) I put into this stacking pill organizer. Of course you need to tighten to prevent spillage, but it can be overtightened and it's REAL frustrating! I like that it's tall so it fits well in the toiletry bag.

I used to use this flat toiletry bag too. It's great when you want to pack more full size items. Sometimes I can get my toiletries and makeup all in there.

u/falterego · 5 pointsr/onebag

I've been happy with the Eagle Creek Pack-It Specter Quick Trip. It's about 50% the price of some of the other suggestions here.

It separates your toothbrush and your main compartment, washes easy, super lightweight. If you hang it by it's handle the zippers pull down so your stuff doesn't fall out.

Part of me wishes that it was a touch smaller, because it has way more space than I need… but it's so lightweight it compresses just fine. I could put rubber bands around it I guess… I usually just cram it in a corner and it's just as small as it needs to be.

u/tazend314 · 1 pointr/onebag

Pack it flat bag is the absolute best.

Here is the amazon version/knock off of the original ebags one.

I have the ebags one and I don’t know how I’d live without it.

For the liquids, I keep them in the main compartment in a plastic ziplock for air travel. The reason it works so well is it can slide in the back or front like a folder bc of how flat it is. It stays flat no matter how full it gets. Instead of sticking up like a brick. Plus it hangs on any door or shower hook.

u/wong__a · 4 pointsr/konmari

I guess I don't know if it's exactly a quart, but on amazon it advertised as compliant. I bought it years ago so I don't think this is the exact one, but it's very similar to this. To my knowledge, it doesn't have to be a ziplock bag as long as it is quart sized and clear! Honestly, I think TSA doesn't care that much if you don't look shady because my boyfriend keeps his toiletries (mostly eyedrops, mini sunscreen, and toothpaste) in a mesh bag that is not very clear and he's never had any problems.

u/Smashleyyyyy · 1 pointr/onebag

u/jewelrider · 1 pointr/AskWomen

I use a big toiletry bag that has a lot of room and has multiple pockets for organizing.

I really like this one by Amazon basics because it's tall enough that I can fit everything, you can hang it up, and it's easy to keep it organized. I use a few ziplock bags to bag up anything that could possibly leak.

u/dilema654 · 1 pointr/Goruck

Transparent would be best for TSA (just went through today) otherwise GR1 field pocket would be my recommendation. I would use the GR1 field pocket for non-TSA trips.

I've always quite liked this type of bag for travel, because I can hang it up so even if I'm short on space I have the ability to see everything without having to dig through a bag hanging makeup bag There's dozens of options on Amazon, all over the place in price. The specific one I have was a gift with purchase, actually from Yankee Candle, but it's very similar to that one.
