Not medical field, but I've worked with needs like this before.

The simple human can has an interior plastic liner that should prevent the plastic bag from sinking. It's not as tedious as it sounds, but when the tag is full you remove the entire liner before removing the bag of dirties, put in the clean bag, pull it taught and shove the rest of the plastic at the top through a little hole and that keeps it from falling until you're ready to remove the bag. Plastic cans won't help with that issue unfortunately.

Reusable wipes are a great idea for your situation. I used the ubbi pul liners in a 6.6 gallon sterilite step can when I cloth diapered my daughter. They say 7 gal, but it's a good tight fit on that step can and it will prevent it from falling into the can. Wash the liner with the cloths each cycle, and having a 2 pack means you always have one clean. You might be able to get away with washing the wipes 1-2x weekly depending on the specific situation, so stock up on wipe cloths based on the projected need between washings.

STERILITE 10949004 Step Can, Black, 6.6 Gallon (fyi that price is currently outrageous, but you can find these at Target, Kmart, dollar general, Walmart, etc)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00COYBB3K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ubBEDb1ZY29DD

I've used these wipes for babies

OsoCozy Flannel Baby Wipes - Reusable And Washable - 15 Pack (Unbleached) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000138GNY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_.dBEDbJJGMRYP

But I think for a mostly grown man, you could get something thicker like cheap cloth napkins, or kitchen hand towels, or those bundles of washcloths at any big box like this:

Simpli-Magic 79078 Cotton Washcloths (Pack of 24), Size: 12" x 12"
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0794SLW55/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_VqBEDbWCH8GVM

Fyi, buy the wipes in a single color that is NOTHING like your other linens, if you plan on keeping this stuff fully separated and want to ensure there isn't a potential cross contamination or stains on your nicer linens.

You can search for wash routine recommendations basically on any cloth diapering forum these days, but it usually goes something like this:

Only white vinegar in a soak and rinse cycle, then wash with a cloth diaper safe detergent (I've used Charlie's Soap for all our laundry for over 12 years but there are other brands that people swear by so check them out) with an oxygen booster (oxy clean) to disinfect and whiten. Dry as normal.

If you encounter barnyard smells in clean laundry or if he ever develops a fungal infection, bleach it all in hot water and dry it in the sun and you will be good to go. Otherwise, bleaching is overkill and will tear the linens apart in no time.

And last, I hope you recover fully from your surgery. Take care!

Loove cloth diapers. I've been really happy with them. Fewer leaks and blow outs than disposable, I love the way they smell like... clothes, not diapers. Plus $$ savings.

I was really intimidated buying stuff. I dabbled, a few of these, a few of those, and have settled on my favs which I pass along as recommendations for friends, but I still do just fine using ones I don't care for - they still work! So you can't go "wrong" per se.

Anyway, I posted this a couple weeks ago, but this is my "ideal stash" if I could go back in time and start from scratch. You can buy all these on amazon (easy registry) OR Nicki Diapers on black friday for some extra savings (which is what I did back in the day). I know the list is huge and overwhelming, sorry! But if you click through it I think you'll get an idea of quantities etc. that will get your baby's bum covered.

Newborn stash (for babies up to 11 or 12 pounds, my focus here is CHEAP since it's a limited time): Cotton prefolds, size small or Size small newborn prefolds, bamboo (I like the little bit of stretch) I say 30 of these, so if you forget laundry it's not the end of the world Cotton ones are good too.

Pack of snappis to secure the prefolds .

Blueberry newborn covers I prefer the snaps to velcro because the velcro attracted fuzz in the dryer and really weren't more difficult to secure. I vote for 4 covers minimum, never had a problem with that amount. You can reuse them each change until epic poop which gets on them from the prefold.

Post newbron. This is your big stash - I started using these diapers when my daughter was 3 months and still use them when she's almost 3. For these I prioritized ease of wash, use, and durability over being as cheap as possible.

BumGenius Freetime The ultimate diaper, washes awesome stays soft, effective, dries fast. I'd suggest 12 of these, this is the diaper you use all the time.

Bumgenius Pockets For your big pee-ing times (aka night) it can be nice to have a "pocket diaper" which you can stuff more in they're chunky but night time is not time to care about a slim bum I stuff with prefolds, the bamboo inserts are slimmer and work too, but I guess I am just more used to cotton prefolds because that's what i grab for. I think 2 pocket diapers is sufficient. My issue with these is that the "inserts" don't really reliably "agitate out" in the wash as they are supposed to, which is why I prefer the Freetime.

Extras:

Baby washcloths I have 24, use them for wiping, easier than a chunky prefold for baby crevasses.

Garbage Bag I use this to line a trash can, throw all dirties in, take everything (bag and all) straight to the wash, toss/empty,wash it all (bag too) use bag 2 during laundry. I suggest 2 of these.

On the go bag For dirty y when you are out of the house (or dirtied clothes)

Cloth diaper friendly bum lotion If your kid's rash isn't clearing up with this, take out disposables, get the classic drug store butt paste etc. sooner rather than later and take care of it (bad rashes suck) Some kids just need that approach - you'll figure it out when the time comes.

Hi there! I think you've got a great start here with the neutrals. I agree with the poster below that you should put the plunger and brush in the cabinet and get a new trashcan. I'd add the color white to this. Get some nice plush white towels to hang over the bar, a matching hand towel to put in that handtowel ring, and a little basket of rolled up hand towels on the back of the toilet. Like this: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dmf2YAgkEFI/UZsbnwQ4c2I/AAAAAAAABZ4/Z5hMUp_wlgk/s640/towels.jpg Hand towels here: http://www.amazon.com/Basic-Cotton-Hand-Towels-White/dp/B00BD97PWI/ref=sr_1_20?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1381330008&sr=1-20&keywords=Cotton+Hand+Towels
Then get 1 or 2 floating shelves to be put above the towel rack. Use this to arrange a matching basket to the towel basket, some learning framed art (a family pic maybe? A pic of the pets (s)?) and use the basket to store additional toilet paper. Something along the lines of this: http://media-cache-ec3.pinimg.com/736x/0c/87/f7/0c87f796e96070e54adb1c6b6d1e1958.jpg

This is pretty spendy, I know, but this is our kitchen trash can and we really like it. We have to have it out so we picked one that looked nice. The step pedal is easy, but if your son couldn't do that, the lid lifts by hand too (our 18 month old can lift it). It also contains smells pretty well! simplehuman 45 Liter / 12 Gallon Stainless Steel https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TXXPJBU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_X5cEDbXNVP5C9

Aww thanks! 80 gsm seems to be a very helpful Google search term (or Amazon search term). Since I live in India I doubt Michael's will ship to me, but I looked at Amazon India and there's a Menorah notebook with 160 pages and 90 GSM that is Rs. 255 ($2.58) I am calling that a good find, Waltz. Thanks again :)

For 80gsm, my options can include a Rs. 175 dot grid notebook. That's 2.48 dollars :)

For the time being, I have Classmate Drawing books that I kinda am itching to practice my calligraphy in. Here's a link to these things, and I know they are not technically for bullet journaling but I have like four of these. They have thick paper and I am kinda wondering if I should just start in these? They wouldn't cost me anything and I could always start a new one in January, for the new year.

I am so sorry for my giant reply, I am a compulsive googler who just... doesn't know when to stop. Can't for the life of me find a listing that tells the GSM of these drawing books though. They are thick!

u/fbanerd · 2 pointsr/arduino

The cheapest and easiest way you can do it is probably by not using an arduino (especially if you value your time!). If you are in it for the fun of the build, go for it, but I have a recommendation if you just want to water your plants.

I grew indoor plants for several years at medium scale (60 plants, 20,000 watts), and now grow commercially for the recreational market in OR.

Start with a short cycle timer like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Multifunctional-Infinite-Programmable-Appliances-Energy-saving/dp/B01G6O28NA

and a pond pump like this (get whatever size you need, generally 100gph per 5 gal of medium/soil is more than enough for very thirsty plants - so this one would water 5-6 large plants in 5 gallon pots):

https://www.amazon.com/KEDSUM-Submersible-Aquarium-Powerhead-Hydroponic/dp/B017R708QO/

Then use a Rubbermaid Brute (commercial) trash can as a reservoir (they come in sizes from 10gal-50gal depending on your needs). They are a bit more expensive, but cheaper than flooding your house or apartment:

I use these: https://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-Commercial-Recycler-Rollout-Hinged/dp/B0007845JC/

and these: https://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-Commercial-FG263256GRAY-Plastic-32-gallon/dp/B005KDAQ3I/

You can likely find the trash cans cheaper at a big-box hardware store. they are generally $1/gallon.

let me know if you have any questions and id be happy to help!

u/theksero · 3 pointsr/clothdiaps

I would add a couple more medium size wetbags. There really is no such thing as too many. Also, are you using pail liners or wet bags for the house? Id you're using pail liners, be sure to find a trash can you like. We use planetwise liners and a slim trash can like this (Rubbermaid Home Slim Trash Can, 45-Quart https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BMZVHO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Z5KGyb2VWDZWX), and have been happy from day one.

You also might want to add something to hand dry your covers. We use the octopus hangers from ikea, but something like this (Hanging Drying Rack Laundry Drip Hanger with 20 Clips and 10 Spare Units by Amagoing https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EA7ZDI2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_b7KGyb4J7FQ1P) would do the trick.

Good luck!

u/reclaimhome · 2 pointsr/weddingplanning

We used china plates, real silverware, and mason jars (for water) for our dinner. We used these forks and these plates for cocktail hour. We used the plates as bread/salad plates during dinner and to serve dessert as well.

We also used these cups for our wine and specialty cocktail.

Bonus: we got these garbage bins that made it super easy for people to put something in recycling vs normal garbage. They also looked A LOT nicer than the white cardboard garbage, and were recyclable themselves.

All were a hit!

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I just moved so I feel ya! We moved and in the first week I was like "crap there's so many things I need..."

Shower Curtain, a bathmat, Bath and hand towels to start!

We have one of these bookshelves. The biggest thing we are lacking in our house is storage, and with this you can store stuff plus put decorative things one it :)

Cheap-ish cookware.

And Potholders are one of those things you need but don't think about.

Microwave (if you don't have one already).

Chopping board, knife set (bonus pink knife!)

coffee table

bedding

full length mirror

dinner set, cutlery set, and basic kitchen tools.

Also, curtains (or blinds), if the place doesn't come with them.

They're not pretty, but you're going to need a trash can and laundry bin

Anyways, those are some essentials to get you started :) good luck in your new place!

u/gr8__vinez · 2 pointsr/puppy101

The smell instinct is real lol

I’ll give my boy card board boxes just because he likes to tear them apart and won’t eat them.

I had to get this garbage/recycling can. He figured out how to lift the lid on my old one. He chewed the peddles because he knew they did SOMETHING but didn’t quite figure out how they work.

I found the best way to battle him getting in the trash was making sure he had no ways of getting into the trash. Also he doesn’t eat the cardboard so I know if I have time to clean he gets it as a reward. The only time he shows interest in it now is when I throw meat scraps in there.

For you! Who wouldn't want need this! Its the perfect thing to bring together any room or work office!

This item isn't Prime eligible but its just $2.35 with free shipping if that's okay :c I don't think I have anything that's prime eligible under $3 but I have several things that ship for less than $3.

Thanks for the contest!

u/steenface · 1 pointr/Indiemakeupandmore

I bought a version of these containers from The Container Store (at $20 a pop, so Amazon has a better deal obv) and all of my indie shadows fit comfortable on their sides; I can even have some laying flat on top.

I don't think blushes will fit but I can stack them two high in the drawers, so that helps! I love those drawer sets and might need to add a fifth one...

u/dalek_999 · 1 pointr/DIY

Looks cool, but too much work for me. The simplest and cheapest solution I've found is this:

Large trash can like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S5OBMUA/. Note the step pedal to open, and the inner liner/pail with the handle.

Basic rake and pan: https://www.amazon.com/Petmate-Clean-Response-Aluminum-Small/dp/B00L68MUTE

Crystal cat litter: https://www.amazon.com/Fresh-Step-Crystals-Premium-Litter/dp/B001OQXEHK

Clean up the poop and dump into trash bag in can (same level of effort as the doggy septic tank), and after you're done, dump a scoop or two of the crystals on top. The whole point of them is that they dry out fecal matter, so the poop dries out and hardly smells. Once the bin gets reasonably full (I have a Corgi, and it usually takes weeks before I have to empty it; bigger dogs will be a different matter), tie the inner bag up, lug it over to the big trash bin using the inner can liner, and toss the bag.

I've been using crystal cat litter with my cats for years, and I love it. The dog poo can doesn't smell at all (and the smell isn't even that bad when it's open, because the crystals desiccate the poop). A bag of the crystals runs about $14, but last over several weeks, depending on how much scooping and poop there is.

This has some good ideas of how to "Adulting So Hard"...

So here's my suggestions:

u/FreshFromRikers · 3 pointsr/KitchenConfidential

I know this sounds kind of crazy, but I've been giving these trash cans to friends who cook. They absolutely love it. Nobody wants to spend money on a semi-fancy motion-detecting trash can, but it is extremely handy in the kitchen. http://www.amazon.com/Nine-Stars-Touchless-Automatic-Motion/dp/B0031M9H3A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369956673&sr=8-1&keywords=trash+can

fear cuts deeper than words

Edit #1 - Replaced #1 #2, #9, #13, #15, edited some text, added bonuses

Okay, so a lot of my items are similar, or are kind of "flexing" the rules, but I will leave official rulings up to you. Here goes!

  1. Something Grey - Strip of magnesium - This actually just got gifted to me. This coal trash can is silver, which is basically grey :D

2)Something reminiscent of rain - Zen Garden - Flexing the rules. It's only related because it's a garden. An umbrella!! I don't have one of these, and I have no idea why.

  2. Food related - Pineapple corer/slicer

  3. On wishlist not for me (this is for my fiancee) - Apple Cider k-cups

  4. A book you should read - Everyone should have the Joy of Cooking

    6)Item less than a dollar - MP3

  5. Something related to cats - This is related because of that scene in "Christmas Vacation" where the cat gets electrocuted

  6. [Beautiful but not useful - Lego adoption of Brandenburg Gate](
    http://www.amazon.com/LEGO%C2%AE-Architecture-Brandenburg-Gate-21011/dp/B0050R0V3O/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=E9RD1GO4V1KF&coliid=I22USNN7FC4LVL)

  7. Movie everyone should see once - Not on wishlist - Harlan County, USA. This documentary is nearly perfect in every sense of the word. This movie is so powerful, and so real, it's just unbelievable. One of my favorites. I always suggest it when someone asks "what documentary should I see?"

  8. Something useful when Zombies attack - Kinect Your Shape Fitness Evolved - You need to be able to Outwit, Outrun, and Outlast.

  9. Profound impact on life - Guitar. I really want to learn how to play, and my dad was going to teach me, but he passed before he was able to. It would mean a lot to share that passion with him even though he's already moved on

  10. Add-On Item - Cat6 cable!!!

  11. Most expensive item -It's actually the guitar, so I went with the 2nd most expensive which is a Logitech G19 keyboard Nope. It's actually this amp.

  12. Bigger than a bread box - Mizuno backpack

  13. Smaller than a golf ball - Not sure if a k-cup would count, but I threw it in there. If it doesn't count, I will find something else It doesn't. Here's some ship and anchor cufflinks I really want for my wedding :)

  14. Something that smells wonderful - Kind of cheating, but a different k-cup. Donut shop coffee is the BEST. Changed to a different beverage. I have a horrible addiction to this stuff, and it smells wonderful (to me)

  15. SFW Toy - Legos are a toy!! :D

  16. Helpful going back to school - I listed the Zen Garden again because it's helpful to have something peaceful when going back to school

  17. Something related to your current obsession - I am OBSESSED with Lorde. I have stated this many times over the last week.

  18. Something amazing/awe inspiring - SERIOUSLY. LOOK AT THIS FUCKING CHAIR. THIS MOTHERFUCKER RIGHT HERE? THIS SHIT FOLDS UP SO YOU CAN CARRY IT. NOT GOOD ENOUGH? SHIT, SON. THIS BITCH HAS TWO ARMRESTS FOR YOUR LAZY ASS. STILL BITCHING? GUESS WHAT DICKLIPS, THIS BITCH HAS TWO CAN HOLDERS AND A FUCKING COOLER. YOU DON'T EVEN NEED TO GET YOUR BITCH ASS UP TO GET A DRINK, BAM, YOU ALREADY GOT ONE. IT EVEN HAS A POUCH TO HOLD YOUR OTHER SHIT, IF ALL OF THIS ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH. YOU NEED TO HAVE THIS CHAIR.

BONUS #1 - I looked through your reddit history (not very hard, but I did look), and came up empty, so I'll just post something later that might fit.

BONUS #2 - These blankets are made in Oregon, and look SUPER cool. Not on my WL (I have more than enough blankets), but I really like them.

I may attempt the bonuses tomorrow, we will see. This is definitely a placeholder until rulings on some items are made. Fix'd :D
u/unkilbeeg · 2 pointsr/sousvide

Well, I think this is the one I got. If it's not, it's very close. There may be better ones, but this one works pretty well.

The lid fits pretty tight, enough to smother any fire. Also enough that you have to hold the bottom when taking off the top. :-)

u/DesolationRobot · 1 pointr/woodworking

I have the HF dust collector mounted directly to a custom lid for a wheeled 32 gallon garbage can. The lid is essentially a diy version of this. It works okay. Long time between emptying, which is nice for the planer. Bad separation, which is bad for saws and sanders (all the fine stuff pretty much goes straight to the filter bag, which then goes pretty much straight into the air). I spend more time than I would like wearing a respirator while my DC is going. I need to make the lid a more complete Thien baffle and upgrade the bag.

u/intheaterssoon · 1 pointr/woodworking

I understand. The design in this picture is quite different though. See the filter at the top? This is a modified shop vac. That is the shop vac filter that is hanging off of the motor. There is already one baffle directly below the filter. And then the second one down below.

Also note lids like this: https://www.amazon.com/WOODRIVER-Trash-Can-Cyclone-Lid/dp/B0035YD23K
This type of lid has no thien type baffle at all.

There are so many ways to do this stuff which is pretty cool.

u/Loimographia · 2 pointsr/dogs

Try a covered metal trash can like this; it's too heavy to knock over for most dogs, and even when they do, the trash stays closed inside. My dog used to constantly get into trash; this was my solution.

u/WayeeCool · 10 pointsr/Amd

MSI has a 4GB RX 560 of that same card. That is twice the CU cores as the RX 550.

You also might want to get creative. Carefully measure your small form factor case's internal volumes. Figure out an open space you can mount the GPU in whatever orientation works. Then look into purchasing a PCIE X16 ribbon cable and HDMI/DP mount extention cables. Make sure to consider airflow, you may need to modify your case and add ventilation for the GPU. A cheap modmesh hack, is to get a $5 Ikea or Walmart metal black mesh trash bin, then cut it up for material to use for making a vent.

Just make sure to measure carefully, draw everything out, and use the right tools... So you don't make a mess.

Don't know if Amazon links are allowed on this subreddit, but I linked examples of what I'm talking about below.

I have mine loosely setup with a "diy" 2 stage dust collector. It actually does a pretty good job with minimal footprint. It's just a cheap harbor freight single stage collector attached to this on a metal trash can.

We have the low ceilings around 6'8", 7.5' would be almost workable. I routinely move 8'+ pieces for milling and it's a huge pain in the butt getting them through without tapping bulbs and ballasts.

I used .5 inch 19 gauge hardware cloth on my entire run. Original concern was protection from larger predators but had to make some adjustments once rats started eating my feed.

  • Seal gaps, cracks, holes in your wire. If you can put your thumb into the opening rat/mouse can squeeze into it.
  • Use strips of aluminum to prevent rats from going above/under doorways
