For some reason this didn't show up the first time I posted, so sorry if it shows up twice :-)

1

2 (Snow is kind of reminiscent of rain)

3 (food related because I would serve hot meals on it; unusual because it is multifunctional)

4 is for my two year old daughter because she has the normal version, but loves it so much (probably her favorite thing) that it is now in three pieces with the cover off and losing pages every day, but this one has a carry handle and is smaller for toddlers and easier to carry around.

5 You need to read it because I've been told I need to read it.

6

7 because Catwoman

8 The picture of beauty! :-)

9 Because it's a classic. . . it's sweet, has adventure, and teamwork. . . dinosaurs.

10 because it's a sword that I will always have with me because it's a keychain

11 I'm on my 4th week of P90x, and I hate yoga day because I can't do all the moves, so I don't have the desire to do it, but this would help on moves where I am not as flexible.

12 I want these so I can make necklaces with them.

13 Because it has a swingset and a playhouse and my daughter (and when he's older, my son too) would love this, and I love them very much. So seeing them happy makes me happy :-).

14

15 seeds are much smaller than golfballs

16 Nothing smells as good as a freshly bathed baby :-)

17

18 I could practice my letters and spelling (as long as each letter was only used once) :-)

19 My current obsession is being a mom! All of my other obsessions are geeky stuff, so this is perfect!

20 I know this really needs no explanation as to why it is so grand and awe-inspiring, but here are 10 good reasons. . . First of all, it's huge because it's a rug. Second of all, it is from one of the greatest movies of all time, Star Wars Episode V. Third, it looks sooooo soft (it's so fluffy, I'm going to die). Fourth, how many people do you know who have this in their home? Fifth, it has claws. Sixth, it's smiling. Seventh, you could hide under it during a home invasion. Eighth, you could cover up with it if your power went out in a snowstorm. Ninth, (since you love cats) I bet cats love laying on a wampa rug. Finally tenth, it would be the perfect addition to this boy's nursery (I've shown this picture a lot on RAoA, but I can't help it. He's too cute!)

Bonus Item 1 will be PMd to you when I found out your real name, not if but when :-)

Bonus Item 2 Looks yummy!

fear cuts deeper than swords

This was super fun by the way! Thanks!

I have a 10" Calphalon Cast Iron skillet that I got for like $20 at Target. I have another cast iron skillet 12" that I got from World Market. It's enameled on the outside and bare on the inside and unless I'm cooking eggs just about anything skillet/pan related happens in one of those pans.

I have some calphalon non stick skillets that I use for eggs/fish/etc. But they might get used once for every 20 uses of the cast iron. Aside from that I have some le Crueset enameled cast iron stuff. I have their Wok, and a Dutch Oven, and a big cast iron fish pan like 14" oval shaped thing. It's great for whole fish, but I don't use it for much else.

But if I were starting from scratch it'd probably be something like the following:

Dutch Oven

Stainless 12"

Cast Iron 12"

Cast Iron 10"

Saucier

Multi Pot

Pot 2 qt

I'd possibly get two of the Multi Pots. I know the additional steamer/pasta baskets are redundant but it's nice to have another pot for things like chili or pasta sauce (Although you could use the dutch oven) But with two stainless pots like that you can do sauce in one and pasta in the other. Also looking up another 6-8 qt stock pot it looks like the same Calphalon pot is $75 while the multipot set is $80, and you could always use the additional baskets as colanders.

You'll probably want some decent glassware, casserole dishes, and a few cookie sheets, loaf, and/or lasagna pans to really round out the kitchen. But the pots/pans listed above would be a great place to start. I should get back to work. :)

Here are a few suggestions:

  1. I don't know what size your oven is, but guessing it's a DO10, you'd probably need 30 or fewer coals to get to 500 degrees. It looks like you're cooking inside a BBQ grill, which would likely focus the heat and be pretty efficient compared to a camp oven outside, so probably even less than 30 coals would work. Lodge has a handy coal/temp chart for camping Dutch ovens, so you might need to adjust for non-camping ovens, but it's a good start.
  2. As Zaggie said, coal placement is important when baking. You could do a ring a few inches away from the bottom of your oven, and you could also move about two thirds of your coals to the top of your oven on the lid. Camping Dutch ovens have flatter lids and a special lip for holding coals and ash on the lid, so it'll be a little tricky with your non-camping oven. You could also consider a riser like this for your oven.
  3. Since the bread is in direct contact with the bottom of the oven, you might consider a trivet in addition to fewer bottom coals. This would go between your bread and the oven and help the bread to heat more evenly.

Parmesan packets to taste, Idahoan potatoes (don't cheap out and sub brands, Idahoan aren't that much more expensive and the taste is superior), tuna fish in oil in a packet, not a can, and dried peas plus all purpose seasoning. Mix it all with boiling water, wait for the peas to hydrate - this is a surprisingly tasty meal!!

White chocolate wonderful peanut butter. This stuff is crack in a can, all you need is a spoon. I only eat this when hiking because you can't just have one spoonful.

Lance's has some peanut butter or cheese cracker sandwiches that are pretty tasty but maybe a bit expensive.

I liked this cookbook a lot when I was hiking. I could control the ingredients so they'd be gluten free and also loved the easy cleanup of freezer bag cooking.

For freezer bag cooking I found a trivet like this at the local box store and punched holes with a hole punch in the honeycomb bits. It kept the bag off the direct heat from the bottom of the pan and was way cheaper than other 'hiking store' options.

Depending on where you live, you can carry cheese for a while, especially if you freeze it before carrying it in your pack.

I snooped on your post history to see what was going on...

How about spreading some of her soft food on a Likimat for her to lick off? I don't know the exact instructions you got from your vet, but I would think that would be pretty easy on her mouth while still satisfying the oral fixation. If you don't own a Likimat and can't get one on short notice, textured silicone hot pads, like this work well too.

u/amlyfe · 3 pointsr/Canning

If you have a good spacious pot, I don't see any reason to get another unless you want to pressure can.

Favorite funnel, but does not fit in Weck jars

The Ball canning kits with the funnel, spatula, magnetic lid wand and jar lifter are actually great except the jar lifter, which is similar to the Norpro mentioned by another user. It's a cheap piece of crap. Mine fell apart in a couple of years. The Ball Secure Grip is much better.

Until Apple makes a change (if they do, since they say this isn't umcommon), what's the fix? Articles I've seen mention that the tweeter is reflecting off the surface underneath so a cloth surface underneath isn't recommended.

I'm thinking a marble trivet (It's intended for a heat safe surface to put dishes onto when serving)

William Sonoma

Amazon

Homepod owners: how big is the base? Would a trivet size work (8 x 8) or would you need something larger?

Audiophiles: what's the sound reflectivity of marble vs hardwood?

u/CJ_Finn · 4 pointsr/AskCulinary

I use a silicone round trivet. It is pretty versatile since it works as potholder, jar opener, and cleans easily. I have even used it as a sink stopper since the design allows it to create a suction seal in my sink. I'm not sure if the link is the exact kind I have but it is very close.

edit: forgot to add it works great as a way to keep a mixing bowl from spinning while both of your hands are in use.

u/SplotchEleven · 1 pointr/AskCulinary

Interesting, the smaller squares in this one may do the trick.

Also these oven pads might actually work though they aren't exactly made for the purpose.

Thanks for the chocolate chip mold suggestion. It lead me to both of these. Cheers!

u/McFeely_Smackup · 1 pointr/guns

This happened to me the first time I took my first can out shooting. set it down on the range bench, and the rubber mat melted right to it. Once it cooled, it picked off without a trace, but it was a good lesson.

I picked up a couple of these silicone kitchen trivets and just keep them in the gun bags. They work great to put the hot cans on, the dots keep the round ones from rolling off, and it doubles as a mitt for unscrewing hot cans.

I'm honeslty surprised the suppressor companies don't make their own logo silicone mats. I'd buy them.

u/muhaski · 4 pointsr/castiron

Well he's talking about roasting and you're talking about braising, which are two totally different things. I braise in my dutch oven, but rarely roast. Braising is low and slow, simmering in a liquid. Roasting is typically dry heat and cooked at a higher temperature and a faster rate than braising. Braising does better with meats with a lot of connective tissues (short ribs, chuck roast, pork shoulder). Roasting is typically for leaner meats like chicken breast, sirloin, and tenderloin. If you do want to roast in your dutch oven I recommend buying a trivet that fits your DO. It will keep your roast out of the liquid that accumulates.

Oh I'm right alright! The 5L line is about the "min" water level on the anova, the 12QT line is about the maximum water level, and you can clearly see your stuff inside at all times. Also it's very easy to see if you have any kind of small leak, because you can look through the sides and see how clear the water is. Better than looking down through the moving water's surface.

I put a small silicone trivet under one of the edges to avoid sliding, or an accidental bump. Also it keeps some of the heat off my counter on long cooks. Something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/iClover-Quality-Black-Silicone-Trivet/dp/B00D06M8D8/

I have little round ones from Le Creuset, came in a package of 2.

u/Tak_Galaman · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

I have an expandable trivet which comes in handy more often than you'd think. It's really nice that the same trivet can be used for a whole baking sheet or a single pot.

I put a small electric heater in my bathroom to make getting out of the shower more pleasant.

u/kilamumster · 2 pointsr/whatisthisthing

I think it is just a trivet fashioned after an ancient coin, useful for a tea pot or serving pot.

Edit: I notice now that yours lacks the little feet to keep it off the table surface, so perhaps it was originally attached to something... perhaps a wood base. The openings look vaguely familiar, like it had cordage and ornamental knots and so forth, so it could be decorative only. I'll add more if I find anything else.

Edit 2: It might be the top of a warmer for the teapot.

u/hungrygoo5e · 1 pointr/tea

I have this and I love it. It's thick and well made. It has a non skid surface and is easy to clean. https://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Flexible-Durable-Resistant-Coaster/dp/B0794ZTJ9V?th=1

So I was having a real issue pulling my arrows from targets. I felt like a bitch. Just to throw this out there I’m a large dude that can pull a lot of weight but I just could not get my arrows without a full body umphff. So I took a bar soap and rubbed down my arrows I saw that on an archery forum. If that doesn’t work I use a silicone pot holder something like https://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Ankway-Multi-Purpose-Resistant-Insulation/dp/B01G3HJROS and the arrows will come out significantly easier

And my ideal customers are household wives, husband. These products can be used in normal families and office.

This is exactly 13 dollars! I wasn't sure if I'd be able to find something exactly for 13. Course it isn't something on my wishlist, but by the looks of the contest, you'll pick something random (which is the most fun!).

lucky 13 !

I originally found the same trivet that /u/jaikeane found but it seems wrong to post the same thing, sooooo...

This is $12.99. Closest I got!

lucky 13. :)

i just got a kannastor Gr8ter (v2)and it's got no/low resistance.. not sure if my old one was crap (old SLX), or this one is that good.. it's non threaded (the grinding part).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYpCMNZU5rY&feature=emb_logo

instead of a new grinder, have you thought about getting an "assistive device"?

like grippy pads you use to grab stuff? you wouldn't need fingers as much, you could just use your palms..

https://www.amazon.com/Prepworks-Progressive-Grips-Multi-Purpose-Openers/dp/B00F67TLFC/

and they help with other stuff besides grinding.

look at arthritis stuff.. assistive devices,..

you got an old crappy mousepad laying around?

https://www.amazon.com/Rubber-Jar-Opener-Grippers-Arthritic/dp/B07L59RQ6G/

these are nice and thick.

I've been considering buying something like this as a cheaper dupe. Do an Amazon search for "Silicone Glove" and you'll get a lot of options.

I use the Lodge meat rack with a piece of parchment paper over it.

https://www.amazon.com/Lodge-L8DOT3-Trivet-Pre-Seasoned-8-inch/dp/B00063RXKQ

u/Yuthinasia666 · 1 pointr/whatisthisthing

Might be cast iron meat trivet.

https://www.amazon.com/Lodge-L8DOT3-Trivet-Pre-Seasoned-8-inch/dp/B00063RXKQ/ref=asc_df_B00063RXKQ/

I use these on the bottom of my dutch oven. The shape you have is hexagonal, though, so I'm iffy on my answer.

u/Zombie_Twatz · -13 pointsr/secretsanta

You girls are overly sensitive. I'm assuming you don't play video games. Sure the message wasn't sweet like other ones, but the present was relevant to her interests, it's actually a very nice oven mitt, and this is a common thing that is said to women of Reddit. Could it have been better if prefaced with another message? Sure. But some people assume that people won't get upset over stupid shit. If he was really a douche, he would have sent a $2 oven mitt and called it a day.

Grow a backbone ladies.
