Hello friend, I just got into magnetizing and have done all my research and my models came out great. The best magnets to get are made by "Primal Horizon". For swapping out weapons use the 1/16"x 1/32" sized magnets

  1. I bought mine on Amazon and it came with 140 magnets of varying sizes (I have some small enough to swap out my plasma pistols, bolters, power swords etc...). I bought off Amazon to get started: HERE. They all use standard drill bit sizes, so any kit of drill bits should suffice.

  2. The depth of the magnets is not a concern if you get the ones I linked. They are all the right depth for each respective application, just make sure you are not boring the holes too deep and let them sit nicely. On a lot of models you will end up drilling through the model and it will be a hole, get some green stuff! The citadel green stuff that comes in the bottle I found worked the best. Place the green stuff in the whole and fill it completely, let it settle for maybe 2-3 minutes then place in your magnet. Let it settle for another 10-15 minutes and make sure the magnet is flush (or sometimes it is nice to have it pop out a bit depending on the look you are going for). Last step is to place a very small coat of superglue over the green stuff to make sure you have a layer to keep the green stuff and magnet in place. I cannot tell you how many times I let the model sit overnight only to have the magnet sucked out (these things are very strong for their size) and negate all the work I had just done.

  3. Size matters!! As I said previously, there are different magnets for different applications. Once you get the magnets, it is very easy to tell which size to use for which application. The nice thing about the small sized magnets for replacing arms, hand weapons and even being able to swap out combi-weapons is that the magnets seat perfectly without using green stuff or superglue, although a thin layer of superglue never hurts :)

  4. If you have the citadel set of drill bits, they will include the smaller bits needed for the smaller magnets. The sizes of the magnets are all standard drill bit sizes, so your basic drill bit kit at any hardware store should do the trick. When you start to get to larger diameter magnets, a low RPM drill is very, very time saving! Not only will it save you time, but it will make a nice clean hole allowing it to sit nice, neat, and flush with the model. You could purchase a Dremel tool since they are relatively cheap and easy to work with. If not, use any powered drill, or heck, do it manually! Remember, low RPMs...do not go drilling holes quickly as this can crack the model seams and create more problems later such as having to fill in around the magnets with green stuff and more superglue which equals more mess and cleanup before painting.

My final note, and this is my BEST piece of advice! ALWAYS CHECK POLARITY! I cannot tell you how many times I had everything set, magnets on both ends of what I was trying to adhere together and then arrrggghhh.... wrong polarity. The best approach to this I found is keeping the magnets stacked and stuck together... kinda like this > [[[[] I hope that crude picture helps haha. What I would do is keep them stuck to a piece of metal that has a good surface area, place my first magnet into the arm socket of the model while they are still stacked and then let the first magnet settle and dry. After that, remove the tool in which the magnets are stuck to and with the other piece you are trying to attach, just simply put the magnet on the opposite end into the hole on the piece in which you are attaching. This will ensure polarity is correct. I am sorry if that was a crude way of explaining it, but I would be happy to take photos and link them to explain this process.

Most of all, have fun! There is no better feeling being able to swap out all my Dread weapons, melee weapons on squads etc... I also put some magnets on the torso of my Dreads to give it some nice movement and rotation (almost makes it feel like a ball bearing). If you have anymore questions or need any clarification please let me know and I would be happy to help ya out, upload photos etc..

    Good luck, have fun!!

Glad it proved useful!

> You mention also exercises you do during day to stay fresh. Can you point some exercises to recover yourself?

Have experimented with a couple, but here's what I've found:

Walking

At the start of the day (if still tired after waking and drinking a full glass of water) or after lunch a walk helped me reset and regain focus. Even if I had been dealing with stressful issues, getting out of my environment, paired with mild exercise, was enough to get me over the hump for the rest of the day. Going to a natural area was the most helpful, and a duration of about 15-20 minutes I found was ideal to gain the benefits without feeling like I was falling behind on the days tasks.

Some notes on why this might be the case: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-do-you-think-better-after-walk-exercise/

Standing

I'd noticed a trend where my focus was drifting after lunch and thought a standing desk might help. Picked up a MultiTable (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005NJUQVG/) with my cheap-o Ikea desk top. Tried to enforce a schedule where I'd stand after lunch but got distracted with leg/foot tenderness. Picked up a fatigue mat (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V3TO9EK/) that helped a bit.

Standing does seem to help a bit, the shift in position does work to wake up and regain a bit of focus. But not as effective as movement exercises I've found, or especially going outside and getting fresh air.

Stopped Heavy Weight Training

A few times a week (ranged from 3-5 times per week) I'd go to the gym for weight training. I'd been doing a pretty intense program with regular heavy lifts and I was pretty unproductive on workout days. No matter what I ate, how rested I was, I would return from the gym and not be able to truly focus until after lunch. By then I was feeling rushed to get things done.

I scaled things back to workouts that took effort, but without pushing myself to my limits each time. Also cutting back weight training to 3 times per week max. Others may have better luck with lifting, I just found I couldn't maintain that level of effort and expect quality productivity for a few hours.

Running

Recently I've started running as an experiment using http://www.active.com/mobile/couch-to-5k-app

I was never a runner, but it seemed a nice portable way to get some exercise so thought I'd at least give it a shot. I've been impressed with the impacts thus far. On non-weight training days I run in the morning and the productivity boost carries through the entire day, even into subsequent days. I'm not sure if it's the running itself, or the progressive structure of C25K that makes me feel I'm achieving something each workout, or some combination of both - but since starting running I've felt alert and focused throughout the week.

I'll have to see long term how this work, but so far been on it for 6 weeks now and benefits started around week 2.

u/last-line · 1 pointr/battlestations

Not sure how to add more photos of it... I'm new here, haha.

I'll give some quick tips though.

This is my best standup desk investment - the Topo, makes standing for hours much easier - http://amzn.to/2eCjgC9.
My desk 'top' is a table from IKEA, it's pretty small but works great for a keyboard/mouse/other misc items - http://amzn.to/2eCjY2s.
This is my shelf that holds my laptop - might only work well in a setup where you're in a corner like I am - http://amzn.to/2frgGQU.
Amazon Basics wall arm is great, but you can use whatever - http://amzn.to/2frfa0V.
I use this to keep power bricks, etc out of sight - http://amzn.to/2ed49k6.
I put this little led strip behind my monitor - it's powered by USB and I have it plugged into my monitor so it is on when my monitor is on - http://amzn.to/2fIhguL.
Mousepad, i like the Razer Sphex for this, just because it's so thin - http://amzn.to/2eCmPbs - but it isn't the best pad for gaming, etc.

You'll want to put your desk top height so that when standing on the mat in whatever you're gonna use (I just wear socks) when your arms are at your side, your elbows form a 90 degree angle to go onto your keyboard/mouse. Your monitor should be at a height where your eyes are inline with about 2/3 up your screen (1/3 of your screen is above your eyes.)

I also put the shelf so that the laptop is below my monitor in case I want to pull my monitor out from the wall - however 99.9% of the time I find that I just have my monitor pushed back as close to the wall as it goes.

When mounting the desk to the wall, you'll want to try to put the center part into a stud, and use some decently burly drywall anchors for the rest. You'll find you may inadvertently lean on the desk and things like that, so you want it to be pretty solid.

Good luck!

Do you have board games or something you could play with your children that doesn't cost much?

Can you get cardboard boxes from some store that are big enough for your children to play in and pretend it is a car or ship or rocket or whatever?

I'm not saying be cheap, but be thrifty. Find a way to save money and keep your children happy with you. Even a card game of Go Fish or Crazy 8's would be fun. Checkers, Candy Land, The Game of Life, Monopoly, RIsk, and other games are fun as well.

If you have an Amazon tablet for them you can get the Amazon Underground store and Actually Free games for them to play on a tablet https://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1003016361
An Amazon KIndle Fire tablet can be cheaper than an Apple iPad. Look at this one for $50:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GEW27DA/ref=fs_ods_tab_an

If you save up the money for it, and not use credit cards it would be a good deal. You can get Kindle children books for them to read as well.

There is a tablet for children for it costs more.

Good luck.

u/Wishful-Thought · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Lightsaber Lamp or chopsticks are pretty cool. This apron, this thermos, these playing cards, this bottle opener, and this ice cube tray are also pretty sweet!

There's a variety of cat tote bags but I personally love this one or this one. I also love these coasters, this plush, this game, this cup, and these magnets.

This camping first aid kit looks super useful, as does this multitool, and you can never have too many torches. An inflatable pillow, or a funky backpack cover might be cool too.

I'm not great at looking for stuff for kids yet, so I can't really cover that aspect, but I hope you like some of these suggestions!

Unpopular opinion maybe but I bought myself a recipe box. Like a physical wooden box (this one) then got some 5x7 index cards and A-Z dividers from Staples. I made a key for which letters are what categories (including Desserts, other baked goods, seasonal, Gluten free, veggies, rice and pasta, etc etc) and I put recipes in there either by typing and printing onto the card or doing it by hand - I prefer to write them by hand

The box comes with a nifty little card sleeve so when I'm cooking/baking the card stays clean.

So yeah, i'm like a 20 year old with a wooden recipe box

  • Standing Desk
  • Fatigue Mat - A good mat & posture vital for standing desk success. Get a good one. This is the one i have. Balance Boards, and Fancy ones with contours are a waste of money. I exclusively do a standing desk at both work and home, and have done that for several years now.
  • Headphones - I invested in a good pair of headphones. I have the Bose noise-canceling Bluetooth headphones which are quite expensive.
    • Music Subscription - Also for managing distractions. I don't usually like listing to music for extended periods, but it's better than listing to my coworkers for the same period.
  • Keyboard, mouse - this is a personal preference in terms of which you get.
  • Nice Monitor - Expensive, but I don't have to beg for a nice monitor each time I switch companies.
  • Insulated Tumber - For Coffee/Tea
  • Me - I'm at my desk .... occasionally.

Given you spend about 2000 hours at your desk per year, IMO it's absolutely worthwhile to invest in your own comfort, even if your employer won't do that for you.

Welcome to the world of increasingly more and better coffee.

May I recommend something that will help you keep your (what appears to be tiny) kitchen clean? Get yourself a bar mat. It will help catch loose beans/grinds and keep them from getting scattered all over your kitchen. Also if you spill water or what ever it will all stay contained. I got mine from a place I used to work (says Barcardi and Coke on it) Make friends with a bar tender, or spend the 10 bucks now and enjoy your clean kitchen. Also makes it look like you know what you're doing. Seriously, a bar mat is the way to go.

That and a Chemex should be your next purchase.

edit- something like this

I use Certain Dri and it has drastically improved my situation. As you said, it prevents you from sweating; my problem was that I would sweat a lot and it would get all swampy under there and I believe it was that wetness that made it smell because it definitely smelled bad. Once I started using Certain Dri the sweat problem went away almost immediately. I still use a normal deodorant during the day though (you only apply Certain Dri at night) and between the two of them there is no more odor or sweat. Hooray!

Another two tips that may help: drink lots of water! Also, there is evidence that some metals can help remove odors from the skin. I bought (this)[https://www.amazon.com/Amco-8402-Rub-Away-Bar/dp/B000F8JUJY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492008535&sr=8-1&keywords=metal+bar+soap] and use it in the shower under my arms on occasion. It is made for chefs to wash their hands with to remove onion/garlic smells but it works well for the pits too! Best of luck conquering the odor! You can do it! :)

I mean you got the main stuff. I fiddled around a lot with my EDC for the first two years after learning about EDC, and then.... kinda just settled into what I got.

But some ideas...

A pick kit. Gotta learn how to use it, of course, but can come in handy. And you need a kit to start learning. Also local laws apply etc. Sparrows and Southord are commonly recommended.

A fresnel lens. Hey, can come in handy. Cheap.

Key dangler. Dangle your keys from your belt into the upper quadrant of whatever pocket you keep them in. Keeps it neat, keeps it secure, and leaves more room in your pocket. Also cheap. Even better if you have a push button start vehicle and keyless entry. Along with a keypad front door of my house, I just need to have my keys on me; I don't actually have to ever remove them in the course of the day.

Watch. I personally do the smart watch thing, but G shocks, Timex Weekender, citizen eco drive are common EDC recommendations.

Bacon toothpicks. If you're a former smoker and you can't vape, these do the trick for me. https://www.amazon.com/Accoutrements-11723-Bacon-Flavored-Toothpicks/dp/B000VF5UYU

Wonder wafers
https://www.amazon.com/Wonder-Wafers-Individually-New-Leather/dp/B01E4NOTCS/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_263_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=NR0V8T7HDQ1AJA513SVS

Keep one in your wallet, smell like leather all the time. Or whatever you choose.

Alternatively, a wallet. Or a hidden money belt.

Just some ideas.

Search for toppers or mods for his favorite pin that he owns, if he keeps them and doesn't flip them frequently (changing every 6-12 months).

Otherwise, here are some additional ideas:

I bought this bar mat (https://www.amazon.com/Update-International-BSM-1218BK-Rubber-Service/dp/B000MVI4ZK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1482638096&sr=8-3&keywords=bar+mat) a while back and my grinder and machine (I have a Gaggia Classic) fit on it perfectly with a little room to spare. It has little pokey things (whatever you want to call it) that will trap stray water and grounds. It's really easy to move the machines+grinder and knock everything in the mat into the garbage and throw into the dishwasher to clean. Highly recommend!

Hey! Sorry to be annoying but Automod removed your comment because some of the links contain "tag=", which generally signals a referral code. They don't really look like typical referral codes to me though, maybe just something weird Amazon added on when you searched, but could you edit the links for a couple of the items so that everything from (and including) "tag=" is removed? I'm going to do it for you so you can just copy and paste them easily:

Pond's Cold Cream Cleanser

Aztec Healing Clay

Wait 30 min

Again, sorry about the trouble, just want to make super sure that there aren't any "tag=" in the links!

After you've replaced the links just reply to this comment so I know to reapprove your comment :)

Yeah, Amazon will have some Fire Tablets that are like $50 soon. I would go with something like that, especially because it comes from a brand like Amazon that you know you can somewhat trust.

A second monitor.

A good backpack. Also, make note--the wheeled backpacks that were for losers in high school? They are totally worth consideration in law school. If you can roll your books instead of carrying them--so much easier on your back.

A bookstand --make sure it can support textbooks at least 4 inches thick. You will spend a ton of time reading. If you can reduce the time your neck is craned downward you will be happy.

Dress clothes. You will start wearing them all the time come 1L summer and you really can't even have too many.

I like to outline and stuff on a whiteboard so I have a couple up in my office. If that works with your study style--get some.

Supplements. They are freaking expensive but can be incredibly helpful at times. I would say ask for E&Es for the first year courses but hold off on getting flashcards until you know if you need them or not.

I don't use one only because I haven't gotten around to buying a proper one. I usually prop up my books using other text books, but I wish I had a proper one - I've developed some minor neck pain because I am the ultimate weenie and my body is like "lol, no" when it comes to studying.

It is especially useful if you are reading a book and simultaneously taking notes on it on a computer - instead of having to look down and up constantly, you can look side to side. other redditors may be able to chime in on how useful it is - you can read some comments in this thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/LawSchool/comments/2dtusm/reading_tips_and_techniques/

I honestly never occurred to me that someone might not know what magnetic poetry was. So the original edition is 300 words on magnets that you can rearrange to make funny and weird poems or lines on your fridge (or storm shelter). There's a ton of different editions like sexy, geek, ect.

We also added this to our shelter for those words that are missing:

u/PostYourSinks · 1 pointr/teslamotors

Maybe, but how are they going to realistically compete? You can get a tablet for less than 100 dollars these days, and you can mount it anywhere on your dash for 10 more. I don't see any auto company making a better infotainment system than an android/ipad any time soon (and it certainly wouldn't be cheaper). They just haven't put the hours and money into development. If they paid for integration with those companies, now THAT would be very interesting.

Consider that you can get a solid 7" Android tablet for $50.

Now consider how much it costs them to fly sales reps out or host luncheons at steakhouses or buy the lists of potential customers.

Now consider the profits involved in selling a few hundred thousand dollars worth of hardware.

I'm surprised we haven't seen more of this type of thing TBH.

I've read and watched a lot of reviews for the Amazon Fire tablets. Dirt cheap for the 7 incher with small memory but its very durable and should be enough for a toddler. Seriously, the 7 inch tablet is TOUGH!. Otherwise you could look into the bigger 8" and 10" Fire tablets too. Pretty good specs all around and should be more than enough for kids to play around with. One of the little things I bought that made things a lot more pleasant for me was a bar mat like this

It's big enough to hold my scale, grinder, and room to operate an Aeropress. Catches the coffee dust that always escapes the grinder somehow and minor spills. Once a week I dunk it in the sink, scrub it with a brush, and air dry it.

You get book stands to display such things, on a dresser or shelf or whatever. Pick a cool archipelago or some such, and watch the attention it gets. People (including yourself) will also want to flick through book all the time if you display it this way.

It was super helpful both at home and at school. I also had a classmate who had joint problems from a car accident and found it hard to sit for long periods, she really liked standing desks. I normally clip off the pin, use a metal file to file it as flush as I can, and glue a rare earth magnet to the back using E6000 glue. The glue you can get at any craft store. I used to have one for recipe cards that had little labeled dividers in it. Looked kinda like this but you could write your own labels.

See if your art store has a wood section—you might find decent-sized wooden boxes. Slap a little stain or paint on one and it would look more professional than plastic.

Metal ions can bind to oxygen or sulfur molecules, which might contribute to this phenomenon, causing people to sell products like [this.] (http://www.amazon.com/Amco-8402-Rub-Away-Bar/dp/B000F8JUJY).

Also, according to an unscientific study described in this npr article, it doesn't do much.

I've been debating magnetizing my Kanz. However as for magnets I'm currently using something like this. They are 3mm magnets.

u/Neyvash · 25 pointsr/fashionwomens35

It's not fashion, but maybe the issue isn't necessarily your shoes. Do you have an anti-fatigue mat with your desk? If not, I highly recommend getting one (something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Sky-Comfort-Fatigue-Kitchens-Standing/dp/B00M8O122G/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_229_t_)

Well then how about some bacon toothpicks or maybe some bacon bandaids will tickle your fancy

i just got a kannastor Gr8ter (v2)and it's got no/low resistance.. not sure if my old one was crap (old SLX), or this one is that good.. it's non threaded (the grinding part).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYpCMNZU5rY&feature=emb_logo

instead of a new grinder, have you thought about getting an "assistive device"?

like grippy pads you use to grab stuff? you wouldn't need fingers as much, you could just use your palms..

https://www.amazon.com/Prepworks-Progressive-Grips-Multi-Purpose-Openers/dp/B00F67TLFC/

and they help with other stuff besides grinding.

look at arthritis stuff.. assistive devices,..

you got an old crappy mousepad laying around?

these are nice and thick.

I have this bar mat: https://www.amazon.com/Update-International-BSM-1218BK-Rubber-Service/dp/B000MVI4ZK

It has served me well in keeping my coffee space tidy. Electric kettle sits to one side of it, digital scale sits on the other side. Lido manual grinder and bag of beans sits on top of it. Its convenient as a catch tray for brushing out the grinder and grinds jar above after brewing. I empty and wash it every so often if there is much accumulation, but that takes awhile. Importantly though, I no longer have to deal with cleaning up stray coffee grounds every day!

rub your hands on some stainless steel. This works for onions, garlic and other 'strong' smelling things. Might be worth a shot.

I sit at a desk, kinda at a typist's position, so my elbows form a 90 degree angle to the top of the stone.

Under my stones, I use a bartender's mat, and find it really handy. Keeps the stone in place, and keeps spills to a minimum.

I keep a little dish of water to my right so I can dip my fingers in the bowl and spread it on the stone.

I tend to take lots of breaks, and use Japanese strokes for the bulk of the sharpening, and finish with a variety of x strokes.

They're called book stands or book holders. You can find them at stationery stores. Here's a quick search result on Amazon for you...

u/-TheDoctor · 1 pointr/Futurology

Amazon already does this with their Kindle Fires.

If you get noxious smells on your hands (say from garlic or tuna, etc), you can rub your hands on stainless steel. You can check with kitchen supplies on Amazon or in a store and they will have what looks like a stainless steel bar of soap, otherwise using a spoon or faucet will work. There's some sort of chemical reaction that happens and your hands will lose the noxious smell and pick up a metallic one. The metallic one will then wash away with soap and water.

Here's one example and here's another

You cannot; https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201460820

it has to be a tablet/phone/mobile device unfortunately :/

I think tablet or android phone download for later and then mirror screen to TV is best option. They have cheap tablets, this'll prob work: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GEW27DA/ref=fs_ods_tab_an

here you go. It works for all my texts, but it didn't stand up to the Tax Text that my roommate has.

I have this one. It looks a little flimsy, but it's held up to every book I've used in it, and it's significantly less bulky than the wooden ones a lot of my classmates use.
