In addition to the other great suggestions here I also like these things:

  1. This Travel Pill case it is large enough to hold 4 large pills per section, and has 4 sections per day.

  2. The Flip and Tumble Grocery bag . This bag holds a surprising amount, and because it fits on the shoulder, not carried in the hands, it makes it easier to carry.

  3. Table Mate tray table this is the cheaper version of what others suggested, and is a bit less sturdy, but if you are on a limited budget, it works great.

  4. OXO Good Grips Products I love the can opener, but any of their Good Grips products work great. They are specificly designed for people with arthritis.

  5. I feel the most important one of all, though, is a fuzzy comfort blanket . People underestimate how much better you can feel just from wrapping yourself in something soft and warm for a bit. Even if you still hurt, it can make you feel like you can cope with it better.

EDIT: I just thought of another thing. The whole homemade coupon book is cheesy, but the truth is that offering to help them with housework, do some laundry, or even just spend time with them is an awesome gift in most cases.

Some less obvious ones:

  • A set of these (or the like). Dining at "work" today? Extra stack of papers? Comes in very handy.
  • A window, or one of these. Must-have. Gotta relax the mind.
  • A desk lamp. Multiple sources of light, especially around / behind your monitor are very helpful if you're working on a screen all day.
  • Bluetooth peripherals. Don't be typing on your laptop, then you're looking at your laptop screen all the time and hunching over. Along with a nice screen, get a decent keyboard and mouse/trackpad/ball/whatever and use your laptop as your secondary monitor.
  • Pomodoro timer. Stasis is a challenge for WFHers. Set a timer and get up and move around every 30 mins or so. Do a couple minutes of straightening up, go to the kitchen and fix a drink or snack, take a jog or a walk, call a friend and chat (also very important for WFHers), etc.

So the main differences (to me) are 1. Lap stand is more portable 2. Floor stand has more height adjustment options (varies on brand). So to me, it really depends on what might be more important. I have taken my lap stand with me to work, and I also bought a little table that basically turns my lap stand into a floor stand at home (literally this table so the legs slide under the sofa and it's height adjustable! :

However, I do have a couple of notes based on variation from what I've seen. Some stands come with a built in hoop which cannot be removed. This can be restrictive because it's just the one size. Another thing is that some stands allow you to flip the "holder" portion so you can get to the back of your fabric easily to weave in ends. Some others do not, so you have to remove the hoop from the stand so you can flip it each time you need to access the back (I hope that made sense).

I do my paintings on one of those tv tray tables (like this one r/https://www.amazon.com/PJ-Wood-Folding-Snack-Table/dp/B01KLQSN6A) with a clip on light. I plan to get a light board in the future, as the clip on light causes some glare and sometimes makes it hard to see the symbols. I sit on a computer chair dropped down to the lowest height, so the table is only about two feet below my head, it saves my neck a lot of strain!

I keep my drills in ziplock bags organized by DMC number; I change the symbol on the bag with each new painting. (example, for my current painting, DMC #154 has symbol 'A', so the bag says 154 A) I've seen people use little jars, and that looks useful, but I just don't have the space for that.

I've had the best luck buying kits from paintwithdiamonds.com; they're cheaper on AliExpress, but the quality isn't as good. (my personal experience, all the ones from Ali have been very pixellated and look awful if you look at them closer than 10 feet back)

Looks like a folding TV Tray Table.

You should be able to find something exactly like it even at Walmart or Amazon America.

Something like this is probably all you need;

You can put a garbage bag over it to protect it from paint/glue and just put everything you're not using actively in a box beside you.

Stain is going to be difficult. The problem is the protective coating they add to keep the current stain looking nice. Removing that coating evenly so that the wood can soak up darker stain will be difficult. Paint might be a better choice for a new surface, but again sand to rough up the surface for better adhesion.

This isn’t an expensive item, perhaps sell the current set and buy a black set.

a tray to hold TV dinners popularized in the 1950s. Usually can stand as a small table while sitting on the couch watching television. They make models that also can be used in the bed or floor with legs on them that take them above your waist.

Not sure of the quality but something similar to this http://www.amazon.com/Winsome-Wood-5-Piece-Table-Natural/dp/B000NPOMO2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452457168&sr=8-1&keywords=tv+tray

I think it might be a tray table.

You can get a set of four TV trays on Amazon for 50 dollars. My parents run bridge nights at their house every week and they have two of these at each table. (Bridge is a four-player game and they generally have three or four tables going.) That way you can have as much food and drink as you want, you just require they put it on the TV trays which are right next to them.

I actually got yelled at one time - I was subbing for my dad at a bridge night one time and put a beer on the table rather than the TV tray. Then a lady sat down, bumped the table, and my beer went everywhere, so she chose to scream at me rather than say "Whoops, shouldn't have bumped the table". :P
