I'm at work so I don't have photos of my stuff. But here is the list of the basics. The stuff below, plus food, and a change of clothes will get me through a long weekend and on top of some nice terrain. I include my sock liner/sock combo below because I am so damn happy with them (and not expensive).

u/Darthchicken · 1 pointr/travel

I would avoid Hanes to be honest my friend... It's the crappy WalMart brand..

Check out Costco... They have great Adidas socks and underwear!! Quick drying and keeps you cool! They are pretty inexpensive as well!

Here are the links to what I bought at Costco!I believe they were slightly cheaper than on amazon. A pair of 3 was like $23 for the boxers and the socks were like $15 for 6 pairs or something...

Whelp since we have to use what we have on hand looks like I am having a bunch of Nabisco snack packs and one last back of Pizza Flavored Combos.....not actually too upset about that. Alright, I chose a few options for if I win because I am not very good at choosing things. Everything is $10 or less before shipping: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Thanks for the contest :)

These seem to have pretty good reviews.

I actually have six pairs of these and I really like them although they're a little more expensive. They've been pretty durable so far and I don't have any problems with the seams being uncomfortable or anything.

My favorite thing about them is that they actually sit low enough that they don't show above the shoe unlike many "no show" socks.

Believe it or not, I'm actually wearing them with my ultra boosts right now and they're completely invisible.

Thanks for the contest! Great way to utilize the last week of Prime! :)

Socks. Everyone needs socks!

Welcome back, my friend. The duck is alive.

Crazy socks make me happy. Kinda silly, but they're fun.

u/mesohungry · 8 pointsr/running

Yesterday, I ran 18 miles at about 8:30 pace in Oklahoma (read: HOT). It was the same run I attempted and failed last week due to overheating/overexertion. Took the week off and recovered. Started this run at ~5:30am. Today, I have blisters on 9 toes, and I'm walking a little funny, but I did it. Super proud of this run.

Edit: I need new socks (blister protection + arch support). Has anyone tried these?

u/thefeldmann · 8 pointsr/CanadianForces

I never liked the issue sock system. The socks always became lose and bunched up or were just way too hot. I'm a cheap bastard and I generally never advocate for spending money on kit but I don't cheap out on socks. $20 for a pair of socks might sound ridiculous but they'll last you a long time and feel amazing. In my opinion good socks are just as important as good boots. I use Costco's Kirkland brand hiker socks for my everyday around the hanger sock or the Wigwam trail mix fusion if I'm going to be rucking, marching or on my feet a lot. If my feet feet get cold I just wear my neos or mukluks and its enough for me.

I recently got a second pack of these asics. They come just above the ankle and do a great job as running socks. Balega socks are super great too, and I'll honestly probably end up getting a pair or two of their quarter socks at some point or another, but just too expensive for me to justify buying any more than one pair right now.

  1. I just put on my swimming suit and thinking about jumping into the pool soon.
  2. It's friggin hot out.
  3. Run, clean, cook, and maybe swim again. (I'm domestic).
  4. Lose more weight. :P
  5. Buffy the Vampire Slayer mini lunchbox, coupons for Dr. Scholl's Massaging Gel insoles, my shoddy iMac with it's own separate monitor. Mirabella's perfecting powder, iPhone 4, empty sunglasses holder, and an empty coffee cup.
  6. I don't have a book in this room, so the nearest printout... "Tada!"
  7. A printout for my jetBlue confirmation for a trip to CA this June.
  8. Lucky Charms with almond milk.
  9. The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Haven't quite finished the series yet, but the last book was Wizard and Glass. Was a slowassed book.
  10. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark... Hehehehe

    I wish...
    Realistically...

I use Injinji and it definitely aides my rolling pinky toes, which seems to be the same issue. I'm travelling around the world and basically own 4 socks: two pairs of Injinji in Original Weight and an Injinji in Midweight. I prefer the original weight weight / micro crew, I just bought the midweight at first, won't buy in the future - the micro crews are fine in my trail runners.

Going from a lightweight merino sock to the toe socks allowed me to basically double my daily mileage - I don't often have feet issues doing 20-30mi now. I still carry leukotape and have to do some prevention during heavy elevation gain/loss, but I'm a heavy guy.

They're not the most durable however, I wear them every day and they do develop holes in the toes over time, but I'm cool with $30/yr in socks. I'm planning on restocking two pairs during my Te Araroa trip (3000km).

I’m glad you responded. I meant to update my post In case someone has the same question later. The saucony you linked look similar to the pree’s which were champs for me.

I ended up buying:

Pree Men's No Show Socks, White,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078WQS9W8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Ballston Unisex Lightweight All... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DR5X1ZR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Were the standouts for price/performance. The Pree are thinner smoother socks & the Ballston are a warmer fluffier ribbed texture on the inside.

If they sucked I was gonna upgrade to merino wool or bamboo, but both keep my feet feeling dry, & the pree are cooling. both hold their shape & fit well, both seem like they will last a long time without wearing through.

I’m picky as fuck and & I really hate the feeling of moist socks that I get with cotton. (to the point I use
Neat Feat 3B Foot Saver Roll-On Antiperspirant for Feet, 2.0 Fluid Ounces https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AF7602U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_k-nhDb0HSZW3Q anytime I have to wear work boots in summer.)

Not op, but I just bought some adidas ones on amazon that are really nice. Here they are - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013CSNX46/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_uI1Axb5K99DW5 .

u/mindeyesight · 2 pointsr/bicycletouring

Or sandals. By far the best shoe option. I ride in Keens, and when it's warm I ride with no socks and just let my feet get wet if it rains. If it's cold, I throw on some thermal socks, and my feet stay nice and toasty. If it's cold and raining, apparently it's best to use some waterproof socks. I've never used waterproof socks, but I will be testing them out as the weather starts getting colder.

socks
these currently http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TCU9F0/

fucking amazing throughout the whole year and also have a year warranty.

u/NonReligiousPopette · 1 pointr/running

I've been wearing these and I don't recommend them for running. On the bright side, because I have to wear tall socks with them, I've learned to appreciate New Balance crew socks which I can tuck my running pants into and keep my ankles from getting drafty. Can't do that with a no show sock!

u/advicevice · 1 pointr/Fitness

I've had my for about a month now. I didn't really notice any break-in period. They basically fit like a glove. I've found it easiest to put them on by getting my toes into the right sockets and then using the heel loop to pull them on the rest of the way. Check out the toe socks for a little extra comfort. Yes, they are rather expensive for socks, but you did just drop $100 on shoes...

Amazon has quite the selection according to the search I just did.
