As someone who gets migraines, caffeine is essential to helping prevent them. I don't drink coffee on a regular basis, so this isn't headaches from caffeine withdrawal.

When I go on retreat, I carry:

Anacin or the generic. I rarely ever need it, but I do carry it. It has caffeine in it.

If you are really concerned, get some Jet Alert. Break pills in half and use mindfully, not habitually.

Being with sleepiness on retreat is a good learning experience, so don't take them to deny tiredness.

We are often toxically busy and part of retreat, perhaps the first 3-5 days, can be just letting the body recover from the constant non-stop we regularly expect from it.

Best to you on your retreat. They are the best gift you can give yourself, and by extension, others.

Ah, makes perfect sense. Thank you for taking the time to explain the benefits to me. Is "baby asprin" the same as "low dose asprin?" I looked up "baby asprin" on Amazon and the search yielded this

I know you said you tried natural remedies, but have you tried doing a honey and bc mask? Honey is antiseptic and antimicrobial. BC powder has exfoliating and anti-inflammatory properties. I mix about 1 Tbsp of honey with 1 packet of the powder. Then I wear it as a mask for roughly 20 minutes. Gently, with a dampened and warm wash cloth I remove it. I do this about twice a week. You can both at at a grocery store or drugstore and are relatively cheap.

Oh you can also buy pure acetylsalicate, which is aspirin. You can get a tub of the stuff on amazon. It's marketed for horses, but it's just a chemical so humans can use it. I use it and it works great https://www.amazon.com/ANIPRIN-EQ-ASPIRIN-16-OUNCES/dp/B004QH96NK

Or if you prefer normal pills, I also use this one that is just aspirin and corn starch. https://www.amazon.com/Bottled-Aspirin-1000-bottle-NSAID/dp/B0006GE5F4/

These are for Molly's poor arthritic legs, and these are for my 3 black kitties, even though I only seem to have a good picture of Jack (the other two are named Halloween and Boo in case you were wondering)

Molly's tongue is almost always sticking out now that she's old and her teeth have a shifted a little, but the best part is that I wasn't taking the picture of her. She photobombed my nephew by sticking her tongue out at his Halloween costume in the background!

> I just make sure to chew first as I don't want it to stick to the side of my stomach lining and cause internal bleeding.

What does that mean exactly? How does chewing it help it not stick to your stomach lining? What do you think about bulk acetylsalicylic acid in water https://www.amazon.com/ANIPRIN-EQ-ASPIRIN-16-OUNCES/dp/B004QH96NK

> generic brands are full of buffer, stick to Bayer.

Have you ever looked at GeriCare? The only inactive ingredient is corn starch. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006GE5F4/

Try some Goody's Extra Strength Headache Powder or something similar. I once had to come in on a Sunday following some horrible food poisoning. Before I took it, I still had a fever, bad headache, serious nausea; afterwards, I felt like I could run a marathon, I still had the fever and a bit of a headache, but felt energized and the nausea was largely under control (probably the 250mg of straight caffeine helped my body overcome some of the shitty... heh... feeling).

u/TeletubbyPower · 0 pointsr/Paleo

I believe many people are confused about what a paleo diet is, or how to lose body fat% in a healthy manner. If you have read something which contradicts what I am saying, perhaps you can further our discussion by presenting that argument.

Knowledge can only be advanced if people share what they know with others. Either one of us may have better reasoning, science, or experience about a specific topic of disagreement. But, the topic needs to be discussed for either of us to learn and advance our knowledge of the subject.

Aspirin is not required to boost the metabolism. The active ingredient in aspirin is salicylic acid which is found in nature in the bark of the white willow tree as well as in small amounts in fruits. It has been used as a medicine since before the time of Hippocrates.

Aspirin basically inhibits ketosis and forces cells to use oxidative metabolism(burning sugar for fuel). When metabolism is impaired, and disease has set in, be it cancer, diabetes, or obesity, cells will not be using oxidative metabolism efficiently due to elevated levels of stress hormones which force the oxidation of fats. Oxidation of glucose produces greater levels of co2 and oxygenation of tissues. (People living at altitude live longer due to more co2 in their environment). Carbohydrate oxidation can be impaired when the metabolism has slowed, and most people will have too much polyunsaturated fat in their tissues as a result of the modern diet. The oxidation of polyunsaturated fats is quite toxic to the body:

"Substances very much like the prostaglandins, called isoprostanes and neuroprostanes, are formed spontaneously from highly unsaturated fatty acids, and are useful as indicators of the rate of lipid peroxidation in the body. Most of the products of lipid peroxidation are toxic, as a result of their reactions with proteins, DNA, and the mitochondria. The age-related glycation products that are usually blamed on sugar, are largely the result of peroxidation of the polyunsaturated fatty acids." (http://raypeat.com/articles/articles/fats-degeneration3.shtml)

Aspirin can inhibit the formation of prostaglandins and force the oxidation of glucose, allowing polyunsaturated fats to be detoxified naturally through glucuronidation in the liver. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glucuronidation)

Eating a lot of carbohydrates constantly throughout the day can cause the cells to become more efficient at oxidative metabolism and rely less on fatty acid metabolism which is why aspirin is not necessary to boost metabolism. However, if someone is very damaged, or is suffering from diabetes or cancer, the use of aspirin is probably a good idea.

Side effects from aspirin can be minimized by choosing a product with minimal added fillers(I have used: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006GE5F4/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1421578518&sr=1&keywords=aspirin) and dissolving the tablet in a little hot water before consumption. It is recommended to take vitamin K2 if high dosages of aspirin are going to be used, or if aspirin will be taken frequently. It is also a good idea to take it with food and I would warn against taking aspirin if less than 200 grams of carbohydrates a day are being consumed as the stomach lining may be too weak at that point.

I have experimented with aspirin and can attest to its metabolism boosting properties. I am healthier than most people, yet I feel clearer headed and more focused when I have taken aspirin in the past. I do not take aspirin regularly, not even weekly, only when I feel too stressed out, but I think it is a good supplement to have at one's disposal.

Companies and people use trademarks of others all the time. Competitors often use each other's trademarked name and refer to them direct in a comparative and contrasting way. Coca-Cola (tm) vs. Pepsi (tm), McDonalds (tm) vs. Burger King (tm), and every store brand vs. any name brand:

https://www.amazon.com/Generic-Compare-Ingredients-Excedrin-Strength/dp/B008O9AB6C

They literally compare and refer themselves to another company's product RIGHT ON THE BOX. "Compare to the active ingredients in Excedrin (R) Extra Strength.

The key thing is that Ghost of the Precursors is NOT being branded as a Star Control (tm) product. As per the purpose of trademark, they are NOT misrepresenting the source of Ghost of the Precursors, and therefor are NOT infringing upon the Star Control trademark. And Paul and Fred referring to their copyrighted work Star Control 2: The Ur-Quan Masters is ALLOWED.

Read up about Trademarks, they work in very specific ways.

with a literal pound of aspirin you would be able to make 1395x325mg tablets or quite a bit more 81mg tablets, while this might be slightly cheaper I could see you being unable to go through it before it expires and getting an accurate scale would cost an exorbitant amount.

You could also go to your neighborhood pharmacy (if you can find one) and ask them to order one for you. I worked at a national chain and we would order bulk OTC/nutrients for certain requests, but we marked up 250%. It was cheaper for everyone that requested it.

Edit: i meant ask to order a 1000 count bottle, never actually ordered aspirin for compounding in a pharmacy myself

Pain relievers like Goody's and BC powder actually have a little bit of caffeine in them along with Aspirin and/or Acetaminophen.

u/QuidProQuo_Clarice · 1 pointr/mildlyinteresting

I was looking at buying low-dose aspirin recently and thought the same thing when I saw that all of the options were in 81 mg doses. Why 81? I could understand if this were a drug that needed to be carefully dosed, but it's really not

>Children are not supposed to take aspirin because of the risk of acquiring something called Reye’s Syndrome.

It says "Children's aspirin" right on the bottle.

Here's a modern link to Children's aspirin on amazon:

Fat burners are one of the last things you should concern yourself with, and used without understanding and irresponsibly can cause long term negative side effects.

With that said, my fat burning stack I use when cutting is:

Week 1 (twice a day)

10 mg synephrine

200 mg caffeine

81 milligrams aspirin

Week 2 (twice a day)

10 mg synephrine

200 mg caffeine

81 milligrams aspirin

2.5 mg yohimbine

Week 3+ (twice a day)

10 mg synephrine

200 mg caffeine

81 milligrams aspirin

5 mg yohimbine

Do not run this for more than 8 weeks straight. Wait at least 16 weeks in-between cycles. The effects are minor and will only be noticeable if you're already cutting and under 15% body fat.

u/howyalikdemapples · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Mine is the second week. Stupid hormones. All the products I use are the very basics, they're plain without fragrance or any other frills. I'm afraid of frills...fragrance...dyes...anything my skin could be sensitive to. And I'm lazy so I buy everything on Amazon Prime.
