I just got a queen Zinus "Green Tea" memory foam bed. Currently $289 shipped on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q7EPSHI/

It is pretty firm. I actually ordered a 3" gel topper because of the firmness (you sleep on top rather than sinking into it), but that proved to be too squishy (the topper leaves an imprint of your body when you roll). I have a 2" topper on another bed & imo that is the right level of squish vs. firmness: (the bed is firm to the point where my side wasn't sinking in & was kind of being compressed instead, like when you lay on thin carpet when watching TV or something)

https://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Master-Memory-Topper-Queen/dp/B00FJNQBJ2/

Also, I picked up their awesome 18" tall frame:

https://www.amazon.com/Zinus-SmartBase-Foundation-Replacement-Noise-Free/dp/B017YETH8K/

TONS of storage space underneath, easy to setup (2 pieces that screw together & fold in half, lightweight & only requires one person to assemble...literally takes more time to unbox it than put it together), no noise in use, plus with the 12" Zinus bed, it's at a good height to walk up to & fall into bed. You will need a grip sheet underneath, otherwise the bed will slide off pretty easily:

https://www.amazon.com/TRU-Lite-Bedding-Slip-Mattress/dp/B01AS3HADS

I also recommend getting a waterproof sheet (goes underneath the regular sheets), as any spills will sink directly into the foam mattress & never, ever come out:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A2G9VFM/

I got these Mellanni sheets - they are thin, but feel nice:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NLNDU00

Slightly better than the Amazon Basics sheets I have on another bed. I have a plastic bin underneath the bed for storing a spare set of sheets & waterproof sheet (both are washer/dryer-safe). Total comes up to under $600 shipped for a 12" memory foam bed, 2" gel topper, 18" metal bed frame, a non-skid pad for the frame, two sets of sheets, and two waterproof mattress sheets. I was going to get a Casper or Leesa, but those were like $800 just for the bed...I got all that for $200 less, still a pretty hefty investment, but a decent deal. Other than that, you just need some pillows & a duvet or blanket on the top.

The mattress comes vacuum-sealed in a box, so you just undo it from the packaging & let it air out for a day or two to fully decompress. The frame comes in a large but thin box (two frames folded in half with some assembly hardware). I didn't have to mooch a truck off a friend or go to a mattress store or anything...ordered it all off Amazon Prime, showed up in a couple days, put it all together by myself in minutes. Easy peasy. Would definitely order another one!

My registry advice beyond product reccs is to put thigs on a target registry instead of amazon if you can find the things you like. Amazon returns are bs. Please excuse typos, doing this one handed while nursing.

3 weeks out here, most useful items so far:

Moby wrap. It is like magic for getting him calm. He seems to be in suspended animation when he's in there and I can easily walk around and get things done. we also have a lillebaby air, but he's only just now become big enough for it

chicco infant seat and caddy stroller. I love the caddy stroller because it's so light and easy to open.

Fisher price rock n play. also nap magic, and this one lets Dad watch him in the living room while I take a shower or baby-free nap

Mattress protector - if you end up nursing the baby in bed you will get sticky milk and other bodily fluids on your sheets. I love my mattress and did not want it to start smelling like breastmilk cheese or baby urine.
https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Hypoallergenic-Waterproof-Mattress-Protector/dp/B00A2G9UDA

Not as useful:

constructed swaddles (swaddleme, ergobaby, woombie etc)
Our baby runs hot and sweaty, so we just swaddle him with the full size 47 inch aden and anais blankets (NOT the target aden brand, those are smaller) and he sleeps great

arms reach cosleeper. Really wanted to love this, but baby hates it and screams and wakes up when put in it - no such problems with my bed. We've been doing safe bed-sharing (LO and I sleep alone in queen sized bed, and I keep it pretty warm so no blankets) and do a lot of night nursing. Side effect is that I'm actually alert and well rested most of the time.

Rocking chair. Thought I would like this, but we mostly nurse in bed or on the couch and soothe to sleep with moby wrap or rock'n'play

Hey OP, I just went through this earlier in the year. I was also told never to buy a used mattress, so I scoured the web in search of the cheapest new mattress and bedframe that I could find. I managed to find this mattress + foundation combo for under $400. These are also both online, so you don't have to worry about delivery.

6in queen-size memory foam mattress from Wal-mart - $219

Queen size mattress foundation from Amazon - $134 + $5.54 shipping

I've been sleeping on this combination for the past couple months too, so I can vouch for their quality. I spent a lot of time online figuring this out and this is the best combination I found for myself. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have, I hope these suggestions are useful.

P.S. I also recommend buying a mattress protector (this is the one I bought) so that your new mattress as well as all your future queen-size mattresses will be protected from spills and guaranteed to last as long as possible.

This is the one that I've been using for 3 years: LinenSpa 100% Waterproof Mattress Protector

Our female cat likes to pee on our bed whenever something bothers her, and this has been an utter lifesaver. We went from pulling our hair out every time it happened (wtf do you do with a pee-soaked mattress twice a day because your male kitten grew into a big bully who terrorizes the female ?) to just being able to rip this sheet off and throwing it in the washing machine. We also like to put another fitted sheet on top of it for comfort. This thing is seriously amazing - 3 years of continuous use, and not even a hint of pee smell gets through (and I have a sharptastic nose).

I could be a salesmen for these waterproof sheets. So awesome :D

Not a dumb question. I would definitely go for the whole mattress protector, my water breaking was a massive amount of fluids that I was not expecting.

This is mine. I like it, it's pretty easy to wash and dry.

If your girl squirts whether she likes it or not please invest in an excellent mattress cover. like this one from Amazon. it makes everything easier.

u/Xeno_Zed Β· 5 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I bought it on Amazon. It's Everlasting Comfort 100% Waterproof Pillow Protector. This one's recommended by Amazon, though as long as its waterproof, I'm sure any protector would do fine.

u/Oslo__ Β· 1 pointr/Dakimakuras

Sorry if this is a silly question (im new to this), but do you use a product to cover up your dakimakura during the day-time (or when you don't use it)? The reason I ask is primarily for the purpose of avoiding my parents and siblings the discomfort of seeing my lewd daki cover whenever possible.

An example would be something like this, with 160cm length and 50cm width: https://www.amazon.com/Coop-Home-Goods-Hypoallergenic-Waterproof/dp/B075NVL9J8/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

Would be nice if you could link me to a product you would recommend for the purpose I described. :)

If your boyfriend sweats a lot, has he tried showering right before bed? He'll still sweat overnight, but it won't smell nearly as much if at all.

If your mattress already smells, this might be too late, but there's a reason for mattress protectors. Something cheap like this can do a lot to protect your mattress from long term stains and smells, you can always take it off and wash it:

I bought these and love them. Niagara Sleep Solution 4Pack Pillow Protectors Queen 20x30 Inches Premium 100% Cotton Tight Weave Lab Tested Non Noisy Zippered Covers Breathable Non Crinky Luxury Hotel https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079HYNQ9Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_f0JNDbBVCACT1

I actually just got these pillow protectors. They're waterproof and keep your pillows from absorbing sweat and oils.

There's more suggestions [here](http://thesweethome.com/reviews/best-mattress-and-pillow-protectors/#the-best- pillow-encasements). Natural latex pillows are supportive and firmer/springy compared to memory foam.

> Other overhead includes a decent-sized warehouse that probably runs them $50K annual including utilities, and quite likely a truck or two.

They could potentially just send everything into FBA with no quality control, correct?

On top of Amazon's 15% commission, what does an average order look like for a Prime-shipped FBA'd item?

https://www.amazon.com/LUCID-Hypoallergenic-Waterproof-Mattress-Protector/dp/B00A2G9VFM

The seller gets that item manufactured in China

They ship it overseas right into an FBA warehouse

They have to pay the... $7-$10 shipping fee to ship it to a customer, no? $17 - $7 is $10. 15% Amazon fee: $8.50. The cost of the product has to be in the ball park of $3. $5.50. How much do storage fees cost? What about import tariffs, etc.?

You seem very knowledgable on this topic. Are you an FBA seller?

u/ThatGuyGetsIt Β· 2 pointsr/funny

They make water proof mattress covers that are cloth on the top side, there must be something similar you can put on a pillow and them cover with a pillow case, saving the hassle of having to actually wash an entire pillow.

Edit: here you go Guardmax - Bedbug Proof/Waterproof Pillow Protector - Zippered Style - Set of 2 - Quiet! - Standard Size (20"x26") https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BLPU8A0/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_nVRjxbBEXQKZR

You need one of these And a spare pillow. (Well, so two of these)

β€œQ: Does this protect against any kind of liquid besides water?

Answer this question
A: My son wets the bed,and it protects against that. Anything else I cant say for sure but I would assume it would.”

> I'm by no means an expert on the topic but when there isn't some sort of medical issue wouldn't a C-section increase risk of infection...

A C-section suture seems far easier to maintain than the internal/external trauma of natural birthing.

> ...complications during operation...

Doing the operation, repetitively, day in and day out, ~30 minutes at a time, affords many reliable consistencies. It's a simple surgery. One incision site, and a few layers of sutures.

> ...increase recovery time...

That depends on what is considered to be "recovery". I would imagine that any episiotomy is comparable to the tissue damage of a C-section, and episiotomies are commonplace.

> ...increase chance of death...

Death is brain death. For the brain to be damaged through a C-section to the point of death must be statistically insignificant, almost impossible to produce, and very simply avoided. I expect that surgeons have no short means of accounting for bleeding.

> ...increase issues with second/third pregnancy in mothers?

There is an increased chance of trauma to the uterus during natural labour if a C-section has been performed previously. Obviously, there is scar tissue within the uterus from surgery, and the pressures of birthing would be brought to bear on the weakest areas of the uterus. This consideration is insignificant, though was considered, the WHO being thorough in its recommendation.

> Don't they also increase the risk of adverse events in the child being delivered?

There was one event that I couldn't account for. That the straining in labour may expel amniotic fluid from the lungs of the fetus, and the lack of straining thereby becomes a consideration for pneumonic conditions.

> Would many of the things you mentioned in your last paragraph even be solved by C-section?
