Scavenger hunts are too much fun! I should be working! RAWR! Thanks for the fun break =]

1.) Something that is grey. My name is makeup and I am grey! WL

2.) Something reminiscent of rain. This color is called "Naughty Nautical". Nautical = water, water = rain. =D?? WL

3.) Something food related that is unusual. Pretty sure most people don't have teeney shaped veggie cutters. WL

4.) Something on your list that is for someone other than yourself. Tell me who it's for and why. (Yes, pets count!) This is for my two parrots! My quaker especially loves dried papaya. I'm teaching her how to fly right now and have been using food as a reward, but we ran out of papaya a couple of weeks ago, and our local bird store has been out of stock for a long time. Turns out that Whole Foods doesn't carry dried papaya either. Rawr! WL

5.) A book I should read! I am an avid reader, so take your best shot and tell me why I need to read it! The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I had heard about this when the movie came out in English. I liked the movie and then moved on with my life. Come this spring, I found myself facing a LOT LOT LOT of driving by myself, so I started borrowing audiobooks from the library. I borrowed all three of these books and REALLY enjoyed them. It wasn't at all what I expected. They're murder mysteries with a lot of themes about violence against women. When I learned about the author, it became that much more interesting. The author wrote these books with the intention of making 10, but died after the third one. They found them after he died. The themes about sexual violence stem from a gang rape he witnessed as a teenager. He never forgave himself for not being able to help her, so he channeled all those emotions into his writing later in life. Anyway.....interesting stuff. Good books. I recommend them :)

6.) An item that is less than a dollar, including shipping... that is not jewelry, nail polish, and or hair related! Pfft.

7.) Something related to cats. I love cats! (keep this SFW, you know who you are...) If I was a cat, this would be my JAM!

8.) Something that is not useful, but so beautiful you must have it. Dresses are admittedly useful for avoiding public indecency charges, but not really useful beyond that. BUT LOOK AT THE RAINBOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WL

9.) A movie everyone should watch at least once in their life. Why? Not on my wishlist (it's on American Netflix though!), but everyone should be aware of the impact of plastic on the environment and our bodies. Education is everything. Plus, there's a newborn baby at the end.

10.) Something that would be useful when the zombies attack. Explain. 1. Stab zombie in the skull. 2. ??? 3. Profit. The reviews rave that it's super sharp and doesn't stick so it probably wouldn't get stuck in their skull like other knives. WL

11.) Something that would have a profound impact on your life and help you to achieve your current goals. I don't know if I'd use the word profound, but it would sure help me out. A big passion of mine is learning to ID birds. I'm pretty good at most birds, but finding information on juveniles is VERY difficult sometimes. I've used this book before to help identify birds in hand, but I think the information regarding juvenile plumage would help me identify young birds from afar. It's even part of my job to identify birds! WL

12.) One of those pesky Add-On items. This is an Add-On item, but it's also a hair addon =P Not on my WL, but I'm losing my hair like crazy so I might have to look into these >.>

13.) The most expensive thing on your list. Your dream item. Why? This isn't the most expensive item on my list (that was #8), but it's the one that would help me the most! When I do field work, I tend to have a lot of gear on me at once, and the extra strain of binoculars around my neck tends to give me some really freaking sore muscles. A harness would be MUCH easier on my shoulders/neck/back. I start field work again in October, so I plan on buying it for myself by then anyway =] WL

14.) Something bigger than a bread box. EDIT A bread box is typically similar in size to a microwave. This is larger than the average bread box.

15.) Something smaller than a golf ball. I am smaller than a golf ball! WL

16.) Something that smells wonderful. This smells amazing!!! I'm infatuated with cinnamon, but had to stop using cinnamon Crest YEARS ago because I developed a bad reaction to it. This stuff is expensive, but the company is very environmentally responsible and I feel good giving my business to them. WL

17.) A (SFW) toy. This seems pretty SFW unless you're playing Cards Against Humanity. evil grin WL

18.) Something that would be helpful for going back to school. I used sticky notes all the time in school! WL

19.) Something related to your current obsession, whatever that may be. I've obsessed with birds since I was 11. I've been obsessed with rainbows forever. I'm currently obsessed with sushi. THIS IS ALL THREE! WL

20.) Something that is just so amazing and awe-inspiring that I simply must see it. Explain why it is so grand. Hear me out! This baby can keep ice for DAYS. Sitting out in the sun for hours on end? NO PROBLEM! YOU'LL HAVE ICE AT THE END OF THE DAY!! Seriously, Thermos needs to pay me for how much I rave about their stuff. My water bottle has still had ice in it after three days AND being refilled twice. No joke.

Train everyone to always put the lid down on the toilet.

Install an automatic closer
https://youtu.be/LWd0oHNI5Co

And put a sticker on the underside of the lid or seat that says “close the lid so stuff can’t fall in”

And then get some opaque “Tupperware” type food storage containers to store things in
Vremi Silicone Food Storage Containers with BPA Free Airtight Plastic Lids - Set of 4 Small and Large Collapsible Meal Prep Container for Kitchen or Kids Lunch Boxes - Microwave and Freezer Safe https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071JVT2HC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_3UHuDb3CZPMD7

Square floral containers that look like a useful shape

Corelle makes them in metal

If you get them in the same design, or in the same color, it will look calm.

You could go with white, and then you could use different designs or items (a bread box for bandages and
a pitcher for combs and a salt box for dental care, etc)

Marie Kondo would have you get clear or frosted so you can see what’s in them. Those would be easier to find.

I keep my wound-care stuff in one, tooth care stuff in another, etc.

Get ones that are identical or coordinating so they look calmer

And then you can wipe the shelf easily because you can just pick up the container.

Does Pittsburgh mean with fries on top? If so, then yes please. haha. (I'm from Pittsburgh originally. We eat everything with fries.)

I actually prefer my steak butterflied medium well. No soup for you!

Congrats on the new job, and good luck!

I have a feeling that /u/NJBilbo would be a fun dinner guest. :)

Bread Keeper is the best $13 bucks I have ever spent. Even has a built in cutting board and you can put it in there right out of the bread machine since it has a knob which vents it if the bread is hot and you can close it when you bread is cooled down.

When I have extra bread I just get a roll of clear plastic wrap and keep wrapping it around till its nice and covered. Then I can just throw it at my neighbors/friends.

Can't believe no one here mentioned the bread keeper. It really is awesome and beats a bulky bread box.

u/unbearablebarebear · 3 pointsr/Breadit

True, I guess it's the culture that's a worry for me since I travel often for work (two weeks away, two weeks home). Although I did see you can dry out the culture and save it for awhile and then restart it.

I'm only home for a week this time though, so I may wait until this summer to try and start bread making. I got a bread making cloche from a friend who was moving out the country that I keep wanting to use and I may as well figure out how sooner rather than later.

u/frugal_masturbater · 2 pointsr/LifeProTips

I do not have an answer to your storage question, but since you are so experienced with baking bread, have you tried using a wooden storage box?

I am intrigued by this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Bamboo-Over-sized-Retro-Style-Bread-Removable/dp/B00A2GPTC6/ref=lp_13880451_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1370021172&sr=1-16

But if someone already tried similar containers and has good/bad experiences, I'd love to hear them.

u/reasonably_uncertain · 1 pointr/Sourdough

BreadBox! If she doesn't already have one, they are really worth it to keep your bread correctly. I got this one as a present, and love it!

u/HierEncore · 1 pointr/pestcontrol

sounds like either humans or pets or rodents. grab a flashlight, and open up your bottom cabinets, look for rodent feces. check any cracks/gaps around the kitchen area.

if you need to thaw them, use a breadbox or stick em in the warmest part of the fridge. something like that https://www.amazon.com/Home-Stainless-kitchen-storage-16-5x10x8/dp/B00O5AHWDO

u/Flipflopsfordays · 5 pointsr/Breadit

I just have a bread box very similar to this one that I found at a home goods store for $15 but there’s tons of varieties out there in wood and metal. Vertical or flat like a drawer.

Metal Bread Box - Countertop Space-Saving, Extra Large, High Capacity Bread Storage Bin for your Kitchen - Holds 2+ Loaves - White with Bold BREAD Lettering https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CV163NL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_mIC1DbHDKWG97

u/pvk1197 · 2 pointsr/DoesAnybodyElse

Fridge side? No. It'll soak up water like a sponge.

Freezer side? Sure, at least if there's reserve bread and it can be tightly secured.

PROTIP 1: Good quality (i.e., real) bread usually won't stay fresh for more than two or three days on your countertop. If it lasts substantially longer than that, rethink what you're eating.

PROTIP 2: Metal bread boxes can significantly improve the lifespan of some breads. They come in a variety of stylish form factors, but you can get a basic one for about $25 on Amazon. Pays for itself.

u/octobod · 1 pointr/raspberry_pi

Was having a look on Amazon to see if they existed in the US... and came across this rather lovely double decker bin... I could fit all the routers on the top and Pi server on the bottom.... Nonono I've spent the money for this project :-)

u/brock_lee · 173 pointsr/whatisthisthing

It's supposed to keep bread fresh. My family had the exact same one growing up.

https://www.amazon.com/Rev-Shelf-Small-Drawer-Organizers/dp/B00B5U845W

u/NeverPostsJustLurks · 7 pointsr/Frugal

I have one of these.

It helps keep the bread fresher for another day or two, depending on conditions.

u/KDirty · 1 pointr/WeWantPlates

It looks like the base to a bread-baking cloche

u/oscill8 · 8 pointsr/Breadit

Did you happen to seal it (in plastic)? Wrapping a hard crust bread in plastic or storing in an air-sealed environment will cause it to soften. I store breads in this (air adjustable) keeper; I also store them in larger paper bags and sometimes wrapped in a clean kitchen towel on the counter til the next day.

You may be able to get the crust crisp again by reheating in the oven.

u/wihz · 1 pointr/Breadit

A bread box of some sort, unless you can eat a lot of bread in a short period of time. I'm actually looking for recommendations on this front as well; I seem to recall coming across this as a recommended option and wouldn't mind feedback from anyone who knows about these things: https://www.amazon.com/Solutions-Progressive-Adjustable-Bread-Keeper/dp/B001BB2LMM/

Oh, and: bread knife if you don't have one.

u/flying_b_61 · 1 pointr/Breadit

I use the aforementioned bread bags for all of my give away loafs but for home storage I bought this bad boy and haven't regretted it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001BB2LMM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_UmpMzbSCBNVFR

u/tankmaker · 2 pointsr/Frugal

My sister has one of these and swears by it!

You could try using a bread box such as this one or this one

u/TWFM · 1 pointr/tipofmytongue

Are you talking about something like this?

u/Zero_Risk · 2 pointsr/gamecollecting

Also kinda goofy, but been considering just using a bread box to keep the few controllers I frequently swap between close by but tidy.

u/PhilxBefore · 0 pointsr/BeAmazed

Be amazed. A bread box.

u/funkthulhu · 3 pointsr/Breadit

Currently I have one of those clear plastic sliding bread boxes. What started as "baking too many loaves one weekend" has turned into an experiment of sorts. Currently in the breadbox, vents closed, and so far visibly free of any mold, is a loaf of caraway rye. This rye was baked on February 8th, it's brethren having already given their lives that it may live.

I am hesitant to open the box for fear of ruining this streak. I have already decided that when I see visible mold I am going to cut and taste the inside to see how the moisture content, flavor, crumb, etc has progressed. I often have loaves with Caraway or some other seed/spice last more than a week, but this is ridiculous.
