Well, keep in mind that there ARE ways around the dirty/wet/muddy dress.

Like, you can get one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Bridal-Buddy-Undergarment-gowns-Petite/dp/B0711KX2GP/ref=asc_df_B0711KX2GP/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309973722410&hvpos=1o5&hvnetw=g&hvrand=867343078338502348&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016826&hvtargid=pla-569147476706&psc=1

Or make your own from an IKEA bag for much cheaper: https://www.ikeahackers.net/2018/06/bridal-bathroom-helper.html

I know they look kinda silly, but wearing something like this would probably make hiking in a wedding dress easier (I'd be worried about tripping in a long wedding dress while hiking, frankly, aesthetics aside) and prevent the dress from becoming muddy.

Like, all of those beautiful Icelandic elopement shots of brides on the sides of mountains in long, flowy, pristine ivory gowns? Yeah, they're wearing one of these things between shots to keep the dress nice and also to help them climb up rock faces.

Of course, if you WANT the muddy dress as part of the aesthetic, that's also perfectly fine, but, again, there are ways around it. And it would open up the possibility of resale.

In terms of whether it's worth it or not... I'm one of those brides who doesn't like the "bridal look" and I bought a dress for $30 that I'm going to wear. So the dress is absolutely not a priority for me whatsoever, really. However, it sounds like it is a priority for YOU, and that's what's important here. If you have the budget to get the more expensive dress and that is what you have your heart set on, then get it.

Sorry for the Instagram photos, but I didn’t take any before I put it away (would be happy to pull it back out if anyone wants details though). Very happy with this purchase! I couldn’t fathom spending $200+ on a veil that I would wear for 1-2 hours, so I took my chances on this Amazon one. Feels like other veils and the lace is very nicely made. The comb seems secure (will need to be bobby pinned in because of the length/weight, but otherwise secure). I thought I was ordering chapel length and I would say this might be closer to cathedral, but that’s my fault for not pulling out a tape measure and seeing how long it actually is. I got it in ivory, and when I opened the package was worried it whole look too cream next to my dress, but it matches well. I would absolutely recommend this [veil ](EllieHouse Women’s Long French... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BZRCPR9?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share)

Super gorgeous dress and you have a lovely figure!

Perhaps you're wanting more drama and could get that with a longer veil? Amazon has super cheap ones: I just looked for plain tulle ones. Cathedral is probably the length you could go for.

Seconding Amazon. I tried on a veil at the shop I bought my dress at and fell in love with it. But...it was $300. Nope! I found this one on amazon for a 1/3 of the price that is basically identical.

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZJPY2LY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Edit: I realize you're looking for a longer veil, but maybe this seller has some longer options? The quality is great and its super flattering.

u/ediblesprysky · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

Ladies who have gotten married (or had other occasion to wear a veil; I'm not here to judge)—did you find a marked difference in quality between cheap and expensive veils? I want to wear a cute little tiny blusher veil for my civil ceremony this summer, so I bought this one off Amazon. It's perfectly functional, in that it is a veil, but it kind of poofs out unevenly (the tulle is only pleated/gathered in one direction on the comb, so it goes up on one side and lays properly on the other), and it has a crinkle in the front that I canNOT seem to get out no matter how much I steam it. Both pretty minor issues, though.

But. I initially bought it because I was hoping it would be a cheaper semi-dupe for this one from BHLDN, which is now on sale, although still expensive. They don't have it in stores, so I can't just go look at it and see if it's really ten times better than the one I already bought. Should I expect a huge jump in the quality commensurate with the huge jump in price? Or is there a middle ground that I'm missing somewhere?

u/blondephotographer · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

Got mine from amazon as well! It helped that what I wanted was simple but the tulle is super soft and I'm very happy! :) Here is the one I got (in white).

u/annabanana286 · 5 pointsr/weddingplanning

I got this one. Seriously, best $35 spent. The ones at the boutique where I got my dress were hundreds of dollars. It looks great with my dress and I don't think anyone will be able to tell that I took a whim and got it Amazon. Special bonus, prime shipping :)

u/lroc23 · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

I bought my veil through Venus Jewelry.

A quick search through their veils, this one popped up but it doesn't have the lace detailing you were looking for.

I also found these:

One

Two

I can't speak for the quality of the last 2 veils I posted. I'm sure you could find a lot more options than I did in the 30 seconds I took to search your criteria. When you search, make sure you refine by "prime" on the left hand side so you can get the 2 day shipping. And amazon has a fantastic return policy if you aren't happy with what you purchase.

Bridalvenus Wedding Veil and... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071ZH4THM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I just decided to go for it and see, thinking if it didn't work out it was only $15 and I could return it. I got this one and it is stunning! It's lovely quality and matches my ivory dress perfectly! I'm ecstatic, because the veil I tried on at the shop (just plain tulle) was over $400!!!

u/KurlyHairDontCare · 2 pointsr/Weddingsunder10k

Amazon has some! I got my veil from there and it saved me a ton.

https://www.amazon.com/Wedding-Bridal-Pencil-Cathedral-Length/ (1 tier)

https://www.amazon.com/Wedding-Bridal-Pencil-Cathedral-Length/ (2 tier)

These are by the same seller I ordered mine from. The quality was amazing. Amazon does have some other options too. Good luck!

u/smilingkiwi · 1 pointr/blogsnark

I started here, but there's ton's of guides out there if you google DIY veil. There's also lots of veils for really cheap on Amazon. I'm going to start with tulle because it was only $1.77 for way too much at the fabric store, and if it looks weird I'll buy one off Amazon.

I'm glad I tried on veils when I tried on my dress because it gave me an idea of what looked good. I want to try beading the edge but I'm fully aware that may drive me insane. I'm normally pretty good with tedious sewing patterns so we'll see how it ends up (I need to finish knitting my wedding wrap first...)

u/suraaura · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

Hi all! I'm trying to decide what accessories to buy for my dress. It's pretty classic and understated, so I can do pretty much whatever I want with the accessories. My wedding is going to be in a garden.

I'm thinking about:

Belt (I'm going to buy a belt and add another identical bow at the natural waist in the back)

Earrings

Veil (I'd like a cathedral one - I'm all about the drama. I found this one that I love!)

Hairpiece (I like this one, thoughts?)

u/kmbbt · 2 pointsr/weddingplanning

i bought one off amazon and got it in the mail yesterday-really gorgeous quality, soft and clean looking. tons of good reviews and if you’d like you can DM me and i’ll send you photos of the veil i got- it was ‘fingertip’ length and it was $12.99. so cheap for such a good quality.

u/yeahrockout · 1 pointr/BridalWeddingGuide

Isn’t it funny how periods always just KNOW?! Mine always adjusts itself so it comes smack-dab in the middle of something super important. Ugh. I’ve seen a lot of brides use a “bridal buddy” and have a much easier time going to the bathroom in their dresses (I’m a wedding photographer). Basically it helps you gather all the fabric from the underside of your dress. Might help things go a little smoother for ya?

Sorry im on mobile. But I got that veil and it was actually pretty good. It looks the same as the veils that I found at expensive bridal shops. Sure, some edges might have threads, but its nothing a quick 2 minutes wont fix. Suggesting to buy a cheap one because i cant imagine the stress of making a veil on top of everything else. :)

u/snowbell15 · 3 pointsr/weddingplanning

Amazon is going to be your best bet like this if you search beaded veil you’ll find something you love!

u/glittergrl0405 · 2 pointsr/weddingplanning

Amazon! I didn’t even think of it until I saw others suggest looking here. I wanted a plain veil because I wanted to keep the back details visible and didn’t want to compete with the lace top half of my dress.

I wound up getting a great fingertip length one for $13 - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071S7Z1VP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_rPaNDbBE46RAM

Dress Twins!!!!

I found my veil on Amazon and think the beading matches perfectly:

1T 1 Tier Offset Flower Vine Edge Crystal Pearl Veil - Ivory Fingertip Length 36" V503 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06VSJML7Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_bSvUCbDXEKVP5

u/papermeetspearl · 16 pointsr/weddingplanning

I love both pieces and they’re phenomenally well made! You can buy the veil here and the belt here

u/stinksmcgee3 · 4 pointsr/weddingplanning

I did not grow up with a lot of money either - so I felt tremendous guilt over a wedding dress. I went shopping at BHLDN, where the gowns are very reasonable. I also talked myself into a $450 dress, because the price was something I could swallow for one day - and even that makes me uncomfortable. Ended up going with a $1450 dress, which is hard for me (THATS MORE THAN A MONTHS RENT!!!!! FOR ONLY A FEW HOURS!!!!) but I felt so beautiful in it.

Alterations cost me $260. Bought my veil and hairpiece onamazon to try to off set the costs a bit. It's a lot, but it's something I look and feel beautiful in. I also bought my dress 16 months before my wedding, with the same thought as you - lots of time to "recoup" the costs.

u/thatsunshinegirl · 4 pointsr/weddingplanning

I purchased this veil on Amazon for $15 and it’s seriously perfect. You’d never know it was so cheap!

u/DariQueen123 · 5 pointsr/weddingplanning

This veil is from Samky on amazon: 1T 1 Tier Crystals Pearls Beaded Wedding Veil (Elbow Length 30" Ivory) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZJPY2LY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_r3sWCb56FBE17

I also tried two others from BEAUTELICATE, and found the quality wasn’t as nice. The fabric felt a little cheap and wasn’t as delicate as this one.

Happy to answer any questions!

u/incredib1yclose · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

For $15 and a pair of fabric shears ($10-15), you can trim this veil to your desired length! My mom trimmed my veil to waltz length and it worked well with my dress! I think a few other people on this subreddit bought the same veil and kept it long for the dramatic effect.

u/gratefulbagel · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

I'm having a hard time stomaching the cost of veils, so I ordered this one from Amazon because it was $13 and had good reviews. Haven't received it yet, might end up with a different one.

u/pandahadnap · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

Thank you!

Amazon

u/zoze_92 · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

I may do that...I actually also just ordered a second (cheap) veil option because I can't decide what I want lol

u/GokusSparringPartner · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

Amazon actually has some good prices on veils. I considered making mine. If you get tulle and lace to make your own, it is so much cheaper to buy the raw materials online than in a craft store. A quick search for the term "chapel wedding veil ivory gives a lot of options, but here are a couple of different ones.

I bought this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/reviews/B00SAHHJK4/ref=cm_cr_arp_mb_paging_btm_2?ie=UTF8&s=sd&sortBy=sd&pageNumber=2

You really can't beat the price, I'm sure there are "nicer" ones for much more expensive. But this one served it purpose!

u/squishysquid624 · 2 pointsr/weddingplanning

You can also find cheaper ones (<$20) on Amazon! I bought this one (pencil edge, not raw), but you can also search for raw edge veils!

u/purpleowlett · 1 pointr/weddingdress

Sure thing!
1T 1 Tier Plain Cut Edge Bridal Wedding Veil - Ivory Chapel Length 90" V179 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008L41VEQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ZC9QBbDW4EXRQ

That's it.

The ivory is a very light ivory, alllllmost too light but it's close enough unless you have your nose to it you can't tell that my dress is slightly darker.

u/musuak · 3 pointsr/weddingplanning

I bought this one with the plain comb, not the rhinestone one. The tulle is very soft and the comb is sturdy.
