when making bbq jackfruit sandwiches spice it up with some pineapple in there. BAM! I got it from a book which i got from the library cuz libraries rule. I can scan the page with specific recipe if you want, it's pretty easy.

They are popular and difficult to find (in some parts) though. Some restaurants are using them as well. To me they are 'alright'.
I find best bang from this book's recipes.
But most of those don't look even slightly to an actual meat burger. They are tasty though.

Essentially the recipe is:
2 cans coconut milk
Lime Leaves
Thai Basil Leaves
Cilantro leaves and stems
About 1/3 cup Green Curry paste
1Tbsp lime juice
1.5 Tbsp fish sauce
1.5 lb chicken breast
1.5 cups zucchini
Essentially cook down all the top ingredients for like 20ish mins. Then cook chicken and zucchini is separate pan. Scoop or filter out the leaves from the top ingredient so you just have the creamy liquid. Add the cooked chicken and zucchini.
Serve over rice. Top it with small pineapple pieces, chopped pistachios, and cilantro.

We have gotten a lot of mileage of the Weelicious cookbook. The general approach of the book is to take recipes adults will like and simplify them a bit for little kids (maybe fewer bold flavors, lower levels of spiciness, etc.). Quite a few of the recipes are in our regular rotation because the adults like them so much.

I bought this cookbook a while ago and I highly recommend it for beginners. Also get yourself a couple of descent knives and potts/pans. It will make learning to cook a little easier and less frustrating.

No problem! I consider them all essential for vegans that want to learn about cutting-edge vegan cooking/baking. The Dirt Candy book isn't vegan, just vegetarian, but almost every recipe has instructions for making it vegan and it's really detailed.
You could also throw in Plum and Candle 79. Candle's soon-to-be-released holiday book looks promising too.

If you think the recipe is so jacked the fuck up, why don't you take it up with him? I'm sure your culinary credentials vastly outweigh his, and he'd welcome your input tremendously. Definitely let him know how you could actually do this recipe with just an ounce or two of cheese for just $0.80 cents a sandwich.
