Almost exactly like mine, but mine is longer. I've had it for about 3 years now. Still awesome. I recommend some of these to help you move it around: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0039ZIPL4

The rubber feet extend so you can have it firmly on the ground, or you can retract the rubber feet and roll it where you need it.

You can see what they look like on my bench here: https://youtu.be/-CqiRjyUuB8

Hello! I want to install some casters into my simple laptop desk. The desk is pretty cheapy, and I need to wheel it just a few feet daily across a smooth, hard floor. The only issue I can think of is that the "walls" of the desk into which I would mount the casters are pretty thin. Between 1/2 and 3/4 of an inch thick. Are there any casters small enough to be drilled into this desk?

Would these work? I'm thinking that would cut it close in terms of what size screw should be drilled into this base...

Thanks so much for the help!!

ninja edit: Or if you guys can think of another way to easily move this desk... Maybe those padded things stuck on the bottom for sliding furniture would make this easily slide? If I got a bunch on the bottom would it slide even easier?

Instead of locking casters you can get some leveling casters as well. You can level and lock your bench in place with them. A bit expensive but definitely worth it.

Something like this:

I've built one similar to this using those exact same casters. I hate them with a passion. I think those casters are too small. You might look into something like these casters I haven't personally used them, but I see a lot of people recommend them over the types that you have.

Other than that, looks good.

Each one of the platforms is 4x4 give or take, and the 4 pots on each are a tight fit. They aren’t the cleanest build because I just used wood I had and tried to keep costs low. The most expensive and important thing is getting strong, big wheels. Here's what I went with. The combined weight is well over 300 pounds between each four.

u/jjefers123321 · 2 pointsr/woodworking

Used these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076QDQY7G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don't move the bench often, but when I need to these work like a charm. Very smooth.

I have been buying cheap amazon castors for some time for various projects. I would suggest a dual locking 3" wheel. 3" only because of the tile.

I bought these to temporarily move a 1000 lb safe and they worked well. Now they are a project cart in my shop.

Forgot to add a top level post for the description.

The wood I got isn't normal 2x4's, but instead 1 1/4 x 3 pine. It's the wood in the back of Home Depot that costs $20 per 8 foot board but worth it due to them being a lot straighter. I used 4 boards to complete this.

I used 2" Kreg screws with my Kreg Jig. The mounting depth for the rails is 21.5".

Rack is about 3.5' tall.

I got them from Rockler, they work great.

u/LittleJohnStone · 3 pointsr/woodworking

I'm thinking of doing something similar for mine, but with these casters. Already in place for my drill press, casters are nice

u/contrarian_barbarian · 1 pointr/howto

It's a bit pricey, but there's also something like http://www.amazon.com/Rockler-Workbench-Caster-Kit-Pack/dp/B005W0UWCY - casters that flip up when you're not using them so that the table rests fully on the ground

u/crzycav86 · 3 pointsr/AskEngineers

Not sure how complicated you want it.. but if all you want to do is make a table mobile, then just google "retractable caster wheels". here's an example on amazon.

u/HUMOROUSGOAT · 2 pointsr/metalworking

Something like this probably. Maybe not this exact one but I don't have time to search.

u/kittenrice · 3 pointsr/cheesemaking

To keep the wheels rolling, look for wheels with sealed bearings. You may be able to retrofit a set onto whatever cart you already have. (for instance) Sealed bearings are 'water repellent' but not able to keep out water if submerged, I have no idea if they would survive wash downs (I'm leaning toward: yes, but their life will be shortened). The ones I'm seeing don't have sealed swivels, so...they'll roll, but not turn after a while.

Another option would be stainless steel casters, such as these, but, dang, those are pricey.

If you’re in the US, they’re mush cheaper. I have the same ones on my bench.

Not sure how much they hold. This is what I had in mind, but they only hold 400lbs. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077RP9TPQ?aaxitk=SimQ8y5p6YDPIpd8vDTW1Q
