yes in the physics community Feynmans like a god
He's well known for many things in popular culture. He was on the committee that investigated the space shuttle Challenger disaster and on live TV he showed that the o-rings lost their elasticity in the cold by simply dumping the o-rings in ice water.
He was also an artist and a very good bongo drum player. He was instrumental in popularizing Tuvan throat-singing in the West. Back Tuva Future https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00000GC1U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_H01vDb1JENG4N
He was perhaps the father of nanotechnology. He wrote a very famous paper and presented at a conference called "there's plenty of room at the bottom" it sparked people's interest and imagination in the field of nanotechnology.
But of course the most interesting aspect to Feynman was his combination of genius, intellectual honesty, and curiosity. One book that I couldn't recommend highly enough is the one I mentioned earlier
Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman! (Adventures of a Curious Character) https://www.amazon.com/dp/0393316041/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_D31vDbF44F7T1
Along with some really great critiques of modern science such as "Cargo cult science"
and of course if you like physics he wrote a great book called "six easy pieces" along with a three-volume set called the 'Feynman lectures of physics"
How about music that shouldn't be pay to download, i.e. music that has been around for 100s of years?
On another note most of the music I like is nigh impossible to find to buy. Basically I can download it or I can buy it from a website where I have no assurance that any of the money -- usually an outrageous amount for import CDs -- actually goes to a particular artist, that is if they have the artist at all. Sure there are alternative means like getting an itunes Japan/other country card, (there still is the language barrier to deal with) or waiting until a domestic version is released, which will never happen for most bands/artists, or even from certain people who bring imports over to sell at conventions, none of which are in a relatively close distance.
Even if I import music I have to worry that it won't play on my computer, some Japanese CDs have "we must contact a server in Japan" DRM and other such silliness, or even customs confiscating my package.
Sure it's easy for you folks that enjoy domestic music, or just music in English, you can just get online to some place that is easy to navigate and find what you want, however for me most of the time it is difficult to find music I want to download, let alone buy.
Sure, if music I wanted was readily available in a easy to access way to buy, I would do it, but it isn't so I'm not going to go through the rigmarole and inflated import prices just to make myself feel better about burning a hole in my pocket.
Now, some foreign artists have had releases over here and I've bought them in order to support more coming over, but they are few and far between, also itunes US does have some music from places that I might enjoy, but not in the sheer quantity I can find on the internet.
I have only bought things that I have already listened to and enjoyed, I figure that is the way most buy music, and until there is a radio station with music I would enjoy listening to I will still download just to get a preview and see if I enjoy it enough to buy.
Just as a few examples:
This is a relatively cheap import. That is from an older band and most of the newer CD imports are a bit more pricey, like here, here, and here.
Glad to help. It is a really good album. If you're interested there are also a lot of collections like this made for other countries, like Guitars of the Golden Triangle which collects Burmese folk and pop. There's also a Saigon Rock & Soul which is a collection of Vietnamese music and Pomegranates which collects Iranian music.
Also, if based on the songs you like I think you might enjoy the album Middle Eastern Rock by John Berberian and the Rock East Ensemble. Oud and the Fuzz is an especially awesome song.
Edit: Here's some more good ones: African Scream Contest and this collection of Middle Eastern Rock. There's also a really good "Flamenco Rock" album by Sabicas called "Rock Encounter". Here's the first track... give it some time to get good.
It would be majestic if I could support my favourite rookie K-Pop band BtoB. Or surprise me if that's too pricey, I'd be grateful either way :)
I hope Norway is lovely! Hmm, what can I tell you...yesterday I played frisbee with some of my friends and we managed to get a chain of 15 passes without dropping the frisbee. We were very proud of ourselves!

|name|JUDY AND MARY|
|about artist|JUDY AND MARY were a Japanese multi-genre band known for their innovative punk, rock, and pop meldings of noisy but melodic music in the 1990's. They formed in 1992 when bassist Yoshihito Onda (jp: 恩田快人) met vocalist Yuki Isoya (磯谷有希) in Hakodate, Hokkaido. Much later drummer Kohta Igarashi(五十嵐公太) and guitarist Takuya Asanuma (浅沼拓也) were added to round out the group. In 1992 they released their first indie album, Be Ambitious, with an accompanying video on Chainsaw Records. They were picked up by Epic/Sony Records and released their first major label single, Power of Love in 1993. ([more on last.fm](http://www.last.fm/music/JUDY AND MARY))|

For 1; There should be links somewhere. Perhaps another method that may work is to compare popularity of soundtracks with their respective DVD/Blu-ray equivalent. It might be worth looking into. Evangelion ost on amazon and subsequent DVD/bluray sales It's EVA, it's super popular, so something went right?
For 2; Sorry man. Interpretation is hard in the art world. Analysis of classical music might give you some footing to stand on as it has been critiqued to no end with various input from people in the musical field. You may be able to draw something from one of their conclusions.
For 3; Bollywood comes to mind immediately. They live and die by their soundtracks. Lord of the Rings trilogy from Peter Jackson is a good comparison tool. I'm sure you can find something in that vein. Google search pulled up an 84 page dissertation into it. Here I have not read it but might after this.
For 4; Your teacher is right. However, so are you. This statement is more about "what could be used as a control?" rather than a "find a control." (especially this late in the game) The basis of all music used in film and television is that is has impact relative to what is happening on screen. Proving that is difficult but it is assumed in most cases. This is the best example I have ever come across that illustrates my point. It's the first look we have of Jurassic Park. It is THE REVEAL...and we are treated to poorly played melodica music that clearly does not match. If that doesn't suffice to prove a point, I'm not quite sure what else will.
I am planning to go with something like this.
Supercell - Supercell Album - Pop Rock/Jpop.
Melt
The World is Mine
Love is War.
Odds and Ends
Sekiranun Graffiti
Buy it at Amazon
With this, the user would be more inclined to check out the songs individually first, then the entire album. The logic behind this is that the person would check out to see if the album is worth listening to by listening to the "choice picks" before diving into the album. Moreover, I believe that people who would pirate a song would pirate regardless, if it is by song or entire albums. However, if the goal is to get people interested in an artist, I think that spreading the artist's work is the number one priority. It is always up to the user if they decide to pirate or purchase the songs/albums, and that linking songs only will not deter pirates. Of course, there will be a purchase link to remind people, but if a producer's work is worth purchasing, then there will be people who are willing to buy the album.
I think that it is better to get a person interested into a certain producer, and letting them decide for themselves if they are willing to purchase the song/album or pirating it.
Woo, another fan of enka! Post some songs that you like occasionally, won't you? Enka is underrepresented on this subreddit.
I can't really recommend any compilations. I did a quick search and found this Crown disc which is like a best of 60s enka that was released on their label. I know Columbia has a huge series of 30-song CDs covering practically every year, from the 50s to the 80s - browse around below the Crown disc and you'll find most of Columbia's and some more from Crown. Columbia also has a series of pre-war music (up to 1960 actually, I think) compilations: here is 1940-1945 and the rest are below.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

YOU'RE AMAZING! THANK YOU FOR ALL THE CONTESTS!!
Some great ones have been mentioned...
Such as Conan the Barbarian's soundtrack:
Romeo + Juliet's soundtrack:
Forrest Gump's soundtrack:
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind's soundtrack:
and Braveheart's soundtrack:
To these I would add the fantastic soundtrack to the the somewhat lousy and sucky 1999 modern adaptation of Dangerous Liaisons called Cruel Intentions:...
and the classic original soundtrack to legendary anime Ghost in the Shell:...
And yet...my favorite is the soundtrack to a movie I would not be eager to watch twice. One that I actually dislike, heh.
But the soundtrack to Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me is, quite simply, brilliant. The latter part of the CD is particularly great.
I have a quick question - sorry if the answer is obvious, but I've googled around and can't seem to find it.
When I go to preorder Love Yourself: Her on Amazon, it shows two different formats - one has a release date of Sept 18 and is sold out - the other is available and has an Oct. 4 release date.
Is the October 4 the date Amazon expects to have more in stock? Or is this a different version? The descriptions are the same for both. I've never done this before so, again, sorry if this is obvious to everyone here.
About Amazon: PLEASE make sure you don't buy from a reseller!

It isn't "imported", so you can get it fast, cheap (Prime even) and it counts for our charts!
-> I know on Reddit we like to look down on stan Twitter, but this kind of information has been circulating there even long before CB, so I really recommend to check in there at least occasionally to stay up to date. <3

I pre-ordered mine at my small local MediaMarkt, they stocked it on 15th April already!
With small local stores you can always check on their store finder if they stock it (not guaranteed!). If they don't have it, make them order. :P If you go to bigger stores (say Berlin Alexanderplatz), they seem to stock a whole BTS arsenal including the "Notes" books in several languages. :D
I know that MediaMarkt/Saturn and Müller have it, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are more. Especially now that it has been in the charts for so long. Several stores have some promotional setup for chart albums.

Small anecdote about version choices: They have one product code for all versions and the MM clerk tried to get all 4 on hand so I can choose, but they only ended up with 3+4. I wanted 1 or 2, but decided to get one anyway to make sure my sales count for the first tracking week. We barely missed #1 album though. TT
You can buy it still from Amazon Japan (http://www.amazon.co.jp/THE-BEST-%7ENew-Edition%7E-完全生産限定盤/dp/B00NHBJX1G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1413442755&sr=8-1&keywords=girls+generation) and CD Japan (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/UPCH-29178)
I'm sure other stores like YesAsia will also still have them available for purchase (:
this is the original link with the release date of 9/18.
however, as the album became out of stock, amazon put up a new link with the release date of 10/4 as they wait for the second batch of the albums to arrive from korea.
i have emailed amazon to ask whether the orders get reported to Nielsen / counted for BB200 when ordered or when shipped, and they replied with this:
>"I know the whole situation.
>I extremely apologetic for this inconvenience....
>I've checked all situations and simultaneously talk to escalation team about this.
>Please try to understand as a retailer we are heavily depended on seller or manufacturer for the availability of the item. In this case too we were highly dependent on the manufacturer for its availability. So that we could have immediately delivered this item to our customer as specified on release date delivery.
>But due to the heavy demand at the last moment, the manufacturer pulled out his hand on its availability and we came to know this particular situation at the last moment...."
i wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that bighit's officialshop also went out of stock? it would make sense if amazon is getting their supply directly from bighit. i'm just speculating, though.
You're welcome! (lol as I'm typing all this I'm listening to the first game's soundtrack). Importing of soundtracks is risky (I do it often)...you never when something is going to fly off the shelves and be discontinued or be readily available years down the road.
Going by the bayonetta soundtrack on Amazon it seems like the soundtrack is still readily available.
Considering though the huge praise of the game from western critics and eastern critics alike, especially that of the score, I would recommend pre-ordering if you want to get it. You can preorder via paypal on CD JAPAN and use Bill Me Later if you so choose...
As of right now I preordered mine, because I remember reading that the set is a limited run.
Its all up to you.
Reminds me of when I bought this, granted I only paid about $45 for it.
Full soundtracks are pretty expensive these days.
Here's Bighit's official link to the second batch! Yeah, I don't think anybody saw that coming - or at least I didn't see it coming. I kind of thought they would have enough for everyone who wants to buy one.
Here is the link on Amazon Japan for the New Edition.
Amazon Canada stocks it, and it counts for official charts. Preorder was $28.97 and I've seen the price drop to $26 a few different times, so if you keep checking back you might be able to snag it for that price.
