I suggest you invest in a water blade as well (something like this although cheaper ones can be found). Those things are magic and get a lot of the water off before you go to towel it dry (so you don't get water spots and the car looks good for your boss).
My method (costs about $4 in my area) is Soap, Wax, and Rinse. Although I might just start to do just soap and wax if your method works. After I get out I will use my waterblade on the car and dry with microfibre towels then I'll do detailing with Spray Wax or Quick Detailer (QD). Lately I've been really liking the Griots Garage stuff but before when I was more naive I would get the Meguiars or Mothers stuff (whatever happened to be on sale that week) from Canadian Tire or whatever.
BTW, once in a while before I start washing, I'll pop the hood and spray the engine bay down with a citrus degreaser (or your choice, just make sure it's OK to use on rubber and stuff like that) and wash the engine bay with high pressure water afterwards then begin with the regular wash.
I also use tire shine (gel and apply a thin layer to make sure I don't get any slinging and the stuff I use gets me a slightly glossy satin finish, almost like it was out of the showroom) but it's up to you what kind of finish you like on your tires, if any at all.
Well, anything that touches your paint will add scratches, that's why I like the blades. One pass dries flat areas like windows, roof, hood, deck lid in one pass vs the rubbing needed with a chamois or towel. Plus, the blades are softer than the paint surface, so only contaminants left on the paint can scratch it (which would still be there if using a towel) - so again, less rubbing = less scratching. (I'm referring to the very soft blades like this one - there are hard/cheap ones out there that may give you issues though)
As far as chamois, if you're getting noticeable scratches either the chamois or the car were dirty when you started. Again, you'd have this same problem if you used a dirty MF towel or dried a dirty car with a MF towel. This is assuming you have a decent chamois and pre-soak it before you start.
I'm not saying that the blades or chamios are the best or that they should be your preference, I just want to clarify that they are among the safest ways to dry a car as far as paint scratching is concerned.
Like this stuff I got and havenβt used yet ?

Get one of these I use it every morning on my sunroof so I can drive into work with the roof open and not get rained on when I stop/slow. Works great and takes 20 seconds to get most of the water off the roof.
\> going to get swirls that require a very fine polish to remove.

I use this to dry off: It's a glorified squeegy but it works very well to limit the amount of cloth contact with your car. Two years, normal washing and waxing, no swirls.

How about this?
In all seriousness, perhaps slathering the area around the USB connector with copious amounts of butyl sound deadener would help?
I'd add this in somewhere, it is incredibly convenient. Every window of my car is covered in condensation in the mornings, mirrors as well, and it's awful waiting until I get on the freeway before I can really see clearly around me.
Dry me a river towels aren't that fantastic in my experience, at least to the extent they are touted to be. Get one of these T-blades works like magic and then it will only take one towel to dry.
Here is another example. 4 stars with 128 reviews for a product that should never be used on cars. The water blade.
You could try a car squeegee quickly followed up by toweling.
