For reference I'm 5'4" and 145lbs but I weighed max 160 at the time of purchasing some of these items. I wear a size 29 jeans but sometimes I need a 30 or 28 depending on the cut/style. I am a 36c so sometimes finding shirts that fit is a mission. Hope this helps

Off shoulder dress. I use belt so I have a nicer shape. The girls fit nicely and the belt is a must so I don't feel like I'm wearing a poncho.

I consider myself a bit of a clothes hound, and have been named 'best dressed teacher' three years in a row by the graduating senior classes. I really enjoy dressing up for work everyday, but I'm very cost conscious and work with a budget. My advice is to get a few quality pieces that will last with wear and carry you through a few years. This can be done cheaply, so long as you research materials, take good care of your clothing, and buy things that can work with multiple pieces.

  • Cigarette pants - my staple wardrobe piece. I had several pairs in a few different colors (black, white, brown, grey, pink, cobalt, neon yellow). They dressed up very easily with heels, were really casual with flats, and paired well with a variety of tops. They held up well with several years of wear, as well. I highly recommend picking some up!

  • Sheath dresses - conservative enough to wear to schools (especially if paired with a nice cardigan), but not as frumpy as a skirt/sweater combo. I had several of these, and they transitioned well from the classroom to after school events like dances, talent shows, recitals, ect. I recommend picking some up at TJ Maxx/Marshalls, or even Target. I've never spent more than $40 on one at those stores.

  • Several textured blouses/tanks (example 1, example 2) - comfy, casual, but still on the dressier side. I lived in shirts like these. The sales rack at Banana Republic is great for finding cute and fashionable work shirts. They also offer a nice teacher discount on their regularly priced merchandise.

  • Simple shirts from Marshalls, TJ Maxx, or Target - you can usually find durable, well made and cute shirts from these stores at very reasonable prices.

  • Pencil skirts - pair with a nice blouse or a fitted cardigan.

  • Shoes - black heels are brainless. A few pairs of flats are a good idea. I would avoid anything blocky or chunky, since those can up the frump factor really quickly. Look for sleekly cushioned shoes, or add inserts as necessary.

General rule of thumb: to avoid looking frumpy, make sure your clothes look tailored to your frame (you don't have to actually tailor your clothes to achieve this). If you're wearing loose pants, wear a more fitted shirt, and vice versa. You don't want to be swimming in your clothing. I know you mentioned you have a curvy figure, so I appreciate your struggles (I'm large busted myself); don't be afraid of your figure - it's likely hard to cover it up without making yourself look like a grandma. Be comfortable, but don't drown yourself in fabric, either. You don't want curtain boob.
u/ssturtle · 3 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Congratulations OP! You've probably heard more than enough already, but here's my two cents. Your figure is great, but that dress design is all over the place. I saw the design on Amazon and it didn't seem to fit the model well either.

I don't think that's the best design or fit for your figure. I'd go with something sleeveless or a streamlined with sleeves - the current one makes your shoulders look too broad. I'd also go with a looser fit around the middle. This current dress is way too tight and unflattering for your hip area. Maybe an A-line fit and flare? With a shorter hemline - your legs are too great to hide like that.

You absolutely can go with a sheath dress as well, but maybe not this one? Maybe one that ends a little below the knee with some looser drapery and no ribbon around your middle. I would avoid a ribbon around your middle if you're going with a sheath dress. You don't need it with a sheath. Your figure is great, so I hope you can find a suitable dress to flatter it. Congratulations again on your graduation!

Here's my suggestions. Sorry, I don't know your size and didn't want to assume. And it's OK if they're not your style - what matters most is the fit, even a cute style won't work if it doesn't fit right.

Do you have Amazon prime? I know its a weird place to find dresses but I've been pretty successful (I just only get things that have free returns) Amazon has this which is pretty classic or this

I also found this at Bloomingdale's - they currently have a promo code FRIENDS for 25% off so it would be within the budget. They also offer free shipping if you are a "loyalist" (basically just signed up for a free account) and free returns also.

u/littlemisstigger · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

First, CONGRATS! I'm not sure how much you want to spend, but I found a couple options that are cubba friendly :)

u/Callix · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

I know it's not the most "interesting" dress, but I'm 5'1 38/27/38 (aka super busty) and this dress in dark green is hands down my favorite dress of all time. I get compliments every time I put it on l, and it flatters my waist like whoa. I've re-purchased it in 2 more colors! My only complaint is that it hits a little lower on my leg than I like, but that should be a easy/cheap fix. I like the fit of the S over the M but they both work, the fabric stretches a bit.

MUXXN Women Classy Sleeveless Ruched Fit and Flare Cocktail Dress (S Dark Green) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LYNHSRY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_pzPrzbXQ7H94W

That brand has a lot of different sleeve/neckline/skirt styles to pick from too.

No, there's no laws about wearing clothes as long as you're decent. The only laws I can think about would involve a man walking into a women's restroom... Some places may not care, but other places will put you in serious trouble if you even try, so plan ahead.

As for what to wear, wear something women would actually wear in public. When most of us start crossdressing, we all go through the "It's sexy and I want it!" phase where we wear corsets and other bedroom-fun-time attire, but women in nightclubs or even on the poles wouldn't wear half that stuff.

A nice dress or a cute Cami+Blouse combo with some jeans may do well. Keep it classy. I only have one full-on outfit right now which includes everything on this wishlist. I've never gone out in public with it yet, mainly because I haven't even started doing makeup, I can't do my hair, I'm worried about voice, and I don't want to go it alone, but I'm fairly confident that that outfit would be well-received.

If you want something a little more feminine, like a dress, just keep looking until you find something you like - but be warned... "The perfect dress" is just as hard to find as girls make it seem. It's harder for Crossdressers too, because we have to decide how much cleavage to show, if it matches our manly body types, etc. If you're ordering online, I'd start with Amazon. They have thousands of dresses but it's still pretty fucking hard to find "The one."

Also, before you order, visit the website from the supplier you're about to order from and make sure you're ordering the right size. Example: This dress is from Anna Klein on Amazon... Visit AnnaKlein.com and find the size chart and do the measurements to figure out your dress size. Do this for any article of clothing you ever order online through a place like Amazon... Amazon's default size chart can be very different from the store you're ordering from.

If you need more ideas for outfits, just watch TV for awhile and observe what any of the lady-like characters wear. Or find an Actress that you like, google them, and see what they're wearing. My celebrity crush is Daniela Ruah (Kensi Blye - NCIS:LA)... No matter what she's wearing or how she has her hair styled, she's beautiful... pictures don't do her justice. They put her in a lot of different outfits that often cover a lot of skin, not a bad quality for a crossdresser. The only thing I don't like is that they hardly ever put her in heels, but you can only ask for so much...

I just did a couple quick google searches. I tried like floral print 90s dress, large flower dress, floral watercolor dress etc. Came across this one on Amazon but its $70 which is a lot for a Halloween costume in my opinion. Also it's only size 14. https://www.amazon.com/Sandra-Darren-Plus-Size-Watercolor-Fuschia/dp/B00S312WY0/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1538414987&sr=8-10&keywords=floral+watercolor+dress

However, I also searched on Poshmark. I don't know your size but maybe one of these could work? I think Poshmark or places like Goodwill may be a good place to look since I don't think this is in style anymore.

Idk what this site is and might only be Australia based but this person seems to be selling this dress:

So I don't think any are great matches but could be a jumping off point? I love the costume idea I hope you find something great.

Love that dress! 😍

ModCloth has vintage inspired clothing!

This green dress could work with a scarf or belt:
Perfectly proper A line dress

perfectly proper in gray

It could be called a swing dress. That keeps turning up in my searches.

This is what I found on Amazon:

This one at Walmart:

Eshakti has customizable dress options. Here is one that is similar, but if you search “green dress” there are so many options on their site. My coworker gets dresses from them and they’re always so cute

Hope these were helpful. Good luck!

Edit: okay, so I looked again and it might be called a wiggle dress. It looks like.m a long sleeve pencil skirt dress.

I recommend dressing more conservatively than that. Black lace at an interview, no matter what company, is not a good idea.

If you're set on a dress, wear something like this or this with a blazer.

Since it is the fashion world and those dresses are a little blah, you can wear a tasteful floral blazer like this one.

And then you can wear a low-heeled, close-toed pump that matches either part of the floral pattern, or the dress.

If you choose the whole outfit as solid print, then I'd recommend you get a small necklace and earring set and match to your shoes or purse. Red heels give off an unprofessional message, but if you choose another color and match to your earrings and necklace, that could be a really fashionable but professional look. Like this and this.

I don't know whether pantyhose is still a good idea or not...Personally, I just like the way it feels on my feet in my shoes. Don't wear thigh-highs if you can see the tops. That's supposed to be underwear. If there's a risk of that part showing, either wear full pantyhose or thigh highs without the lace. I know that for some figures, pantyhose will fit the leg but squeeze too much at the top. Wear close to your skin tone (beige or brown or "suntan" if that is actually your tone). Black is kind of bedroomy unless you are darker skinned. Similarly, if you have dark skin don't wear light pantyhose. And nobody should wear white, bright, or patterned hose.

Certain Vegas clubs have strict dress codes, so it depends on where you're going. I wouldn't wear jeans to be on the safe side because that's one thing that is not allowed in some places. A maxi dress and nice heels (think something more chic like this) could work.

Do you have Prime? Amazon actually has an impressive selection of dresses in a range of sizes, and you have free returns in case they don't work. ASOS would also be a good place to check out (free returns, again, order multiple sizes). Just at a quick glance on Amazon I found 1 2 3 (Dresses labeled "vintage" will usually run longer).

u/austntranslation · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

okay- I want to preface this by saying it is really hard to buy women's clothing online if you're not familiar with how a certain brand/line fits, even then you're taking a chance with each item, so make sure they have a return policy that works for you, and don't be offended if she has to trade down or up the size. she sounds like an xs/0 on top and s/2 on the bottom, so I'd go with s/2. it's better to get it tailored on top than have it be just a bit too small on bottom.

do you have an event in mind with a specific formality for this dress or is it just because you think it would look nice on her? how set are you on the color and the sleeveless?

I'm probably going to wear this one in red! I'll add a black sash, either satin or lace (I have an awesome black lace bolero from ages ago that I'll use, since I am 100% sure I will be cold at dinner.) If I have a moment of bridal weakness, I also own this dress in a white and blue floral that is similar to the one pictured there, but more white.

They look good with or without a petticoat underneath!

Our reception is at a music club/restaurant, so I wanted something casual and fun.

Look at the brand MUXXN on Amazon. I have two of their dresses. Very vintage look to the dresses but modern, kinda stretchy fabric. I love how I look in both of the dresses I have from them and get compliments whenever I wear them.
