CPU: Intel i3 budget processors are getting better and better, 4 cores is plenty for gaming, and the 3.6 GHZ clock speed, although it doesn’t turbo, is still pretty good!

Mobo: Intels mid range chipset, and this one has 4 RAM slots so you could put in another 2x4 kit for a total of 16gb if you need in the future, but 8gb will be plenty for now as long as this is mostly for gaming and not a lot of programming/editing.

RAM: DDR4 RAM at the highest clock speed supported by the mobo, 2666mhz. Like I mentioned above, this could be upgraded to 16gb in the future.

GPU: 1050 ti is perfect for running games at high settings, some easier games at epic, some more difficult at a combo of medium and high, at a steady 60fps at 1080p.

Case: Good case which gets good reviews and is easy to customize as the 2 main front fans are easily visible, and it has a window and good airflow.

PSU: Solid PSU, and 450w will be plenty for this build.

Fans: 2 basic red LED fans, but feel free to get any color that you want, I just think black/red looks cool but it’s really up to you. Also, if you’re want to illuminate the inside of the case, go ahead and get an cheap but solid RGB lighting strip kit like this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00N2QYP50/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1526344133&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=DeepCool+RGB350&dpPl=1&dpID=41cLs0QtRGL&ref=plSrch. Also, unrelated, but if you need help finding how the pc will perform on your favorite games just ask and I can help you figure it out.

Hope this helps!

I'd recommend an LED over a fluorescent ring light, if you can find one for a similar price.

I just bought this Neewer LED a couple weeks ago (this is the same, I think, the pink one was just cheaper at the time).

I also own (and have previously used) this fluorescent one from Interfit.

I'm still working out my video setup with the LED light (no examples posted yet) but so far I'm much happier with it. I always set a custom white balance on my camera with a grey card but with the fluorescent light the WB always seems to fluctuate in videos and in photos I'd still have to do color correction if I used a shutter speed shorter than 1/60 (annoying because I don't like to use a tripod for photos). The LED is much more true to color & doesn't seem to fluctuate in video.

Both of the lights have about the same size outer ring, but the Neewer (which is just one ring with the center empty) seems to give more flattering lighting angles. I also like it because I can actually use the flip-up screen on my camera.

How bright a light to get depends on a lot of things - what lens aperture you're using, distance from the light to you, distance from you to your background, etc. I actually dim my light to about halfway for videos because I sit about 2 feet away from it, and if I turn it all the way up with my camera settings set to the correct exposure for me, my background (another couple feet behind me) is super dark. tl;dr - get something bright but make sure it's dimmable so you can play around to get the best lighting.

Hi /u/Informationator - you can get [2 of them, on wheels, for $299 plus $11 for shipping] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DVUSE9K/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00DVUSE9K&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20).

I almost bought these a couple of times, but I like my ring lights better.

I started buying ring lights after reading this review: http://www.lafcpug.org/reviews/review_diva_ring.html

The guys at Wistia use them too: http://wistia.com/learning/diy-office-video-studio

I have one of the [$249 fluorescent Diva Ring Lights] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003MC1QLK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B003MC1QLK&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20) and one of the [$199 F&V 12V 300 LED ring lights] (http://www.adorama.com/FVR300.html?KBID=66297), as pictured here: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-jrqsQtPN3TU/U1sjz3-jwnI/AAAAAAAAIt4/k2WveyQeO4o/w724-h543-no/P1120732.JPG

Both of these lights provide nice, even lighting and great catch lights in the eyes. And they run very cool.

But the best thing about the F&V is that it doubles as an on-camera light with a [$40 rail mount] (http://www.adorama.com/FV15RMR300.html?KBID=66297): https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2HeaVGwp6y8/U1J4pqlT3dI/AAAAAAAAIrk/3fc9T84GiwQ/w724-h543-no/P1120712.JPG

Hope this is helpful!

I recommend this ring light. I also do my makeup in natural lighting, in-front of my bay window in my bedroom, (weather and time permitting), but on super cloudy days or during winter hours, sometimes it isn't possible, like you said, and I use this ring light to substitute for the lack of natural light. I have 2 of the warm light shields and 2 of the white ones (white on top and bottom, warm on the sides), and use the adjustable lighting feature to substitute for natural light, and find it very effective. It doesn't get super hot, and it can light VERY low (i use this for cloudy days) to insanely bright (never have used it on it's brightest setting) based on your preferences, it's on a dial , not levels, so you can be pretty specific with it. It doesn't come with a stand, so keep that in mind, but I already had one I could use, so it didn't matter for me.

u/ThatsJustAGuyinaSuit · 2 pointsr/Filmmakers

I recently picked up these:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UOMZ2Y/ref=oh_details_o06_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UOOZAY/ref=oh_details_o06_s02_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have only had them for about six weeks, but I've been happy with them overall.

Both units feel pretty sturdy (although the built-in barn doors feel a bit weak; don't know how long those will last). They both give good light, and I like that the mounting hardware is separate from the fixture so you can attach it on any side.

Neither one has a built-in gel frame, but a few C-47's will take care of that problem right quick. :)

I would like more control over the focus of the light, but that is a necessary evil with an off-brand product.

My final verdict? Great starter pieces, especially if you pair with a large softbox or a couple spots. They probably wouldn't physically last too terribly long in a high-volume environment, but for the price..... You get the idea.

These are the only ones I've used so far, but hope it helps!

Scrubbing through the video I noticed that the camera auto exposes the shot to compensate for the backlit shelves so the fix for that would be to shoot with auto-exposing off or just shoot in manual since you’re staying the same distance away from the camera. That would fix the irregular lighting but it wouldn’t fix the lighting. To fix the lighting you could get an LED light rack that you could attach to your camera’s hot shoe: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075N4CJYX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_vlZKAbKWY98MZ
This would help you get more light on your face, acting as a fill light and would make a big difference in clearing out the shadows. Audio is more of a get what you pay for kinda thing. I really like the Rode SmartLav + which you can connect to your smartphone and with the Rode app you can record some pretty quality audio that is comparable to 300+ dollar lavs. Shotguns are good too but I typically use both to help match the audio on each recording devices. The smartlav is a great piece of equipment for only $75 and it doesn’t get much better than that and would completely take away the whirs and and sound annoyances. Here’s the link to the Lav: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EO4A7L0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_7pZKAb2BFD9BK

Sadly, tungstens are power hungry, hot and can be dangerous. Hollywood may still use them - but they are 20th century technology. I recommend LEDs instead.

If budget is an issue, you might want to consider:

I’m really sorry if this is a question you have all answered time and time again, but I’m REALLY getting ready to start learning the trade and this is kind of the last detail I want to get in order.... and it’s lighting.

I live in a rather small apartment on the ground floor, and there’s a decent amount of natural light that comes through our sliding door wall. Sadly... the angle it comes in at and the time frames that it actually comes through our window (not blocked by trees) don’t give me a lot of room to work with. I was scrolling through Amazon and happened across these two lights Amazon, which looks like an okay deal. I’d like to get some cheap items to bounce the light around like some of those white foam boards, but I wanted some input from you guys to see if these are a bust/bad option. I’m mostly going to be doing filming at my desk talking at the camera as well as some clips of “POV” angles where the camera is on a tripod between myself and the desk.

I'm a big fan of these LED panels. I own two of them and have been using them pretty frequently over the last two years. Love the colors they produce and their output is very nice.

The Aputure 300D is on my shortlist as well. Having a 2k LED light will be super beneficial.

I have the first set, having two lights is super nice and allows for a lot of flexibility regarding setups. Also makes it super easy to use fun color gels, can't recommend them enough.

u/tacohannah · 5 pointsr/AMA

Also, one thing that can immediately make your photos better is lighting and backdrops! I own a candle business and noticed a huge difference when I took better photos of my items.
It doesn’t have to be complicated either, i recommend using something like the marbled white shelf liner, and stopping by a thrift shop for a few cheap plates or placemats.

The lights I use are these, they’re super easy and small, and really make a difference- Emart Photography LED Continuous... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DVP53G2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

u/geekandwife · 1 pointr/photography

With an Iphone, not really. They do make 1 specialized flash system for smartphones, but honestly it won't be worth it. And with that in mind, a LED constant system is what I would personally recommend.

For constant on systems you have 2 main systems that are standard in the market, CFL and LED. CFL system are cheaper, but far less portable as they are made to always be plugged in like a standard lamp. They also are not dim-able. If you have too much light where you are at, your only choice is to move the light.
The other downside is these systems require big bulky CFL bulbs that can break if not stored right.

https://www.amazon.com/FOSITAN-Photography-Lighting-Equipment-including/dp/B075R3BH3H

https://www.amazon.com/LimoStudio-Photography-Portrait-Continuous-Umbrellas/dp/B005BYQQXA

There are two examples of such systems. The second one has double the number of bulbs meaning even more light is available. But in shooting you may find this is too much light, or in some situations it could not be enough. You won't know till you buy it and set it up to see.

For LED setups, most panels are adjustable for the amount of brightness they give off, this makes them more expensive in the first place, they also typically are battery powered (AA or some via Lithium battery packs), but some of the higher end models can be ran off AC power. Dollar for Dollar you won't get as much light out of LED panels, but they are smaller, portable, and you can adjust the light to the power you need.

https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Packs-Dimmable-Bi-color-Lighting/dp/B072Q42GXQ - This is a LED setup that is powered by a wall outlet, but can be powered via rechargeable battery packs. This would be a "lower mid range" choice. It is probably overkill for what you are needing.

https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Dimmable-Lighting-Digital-Camcorder/dp/B00Z8YDYOC Is what I think will fit what you are looking for, at least as a starter kit. You get 2 lights, 2 stands, 2 difusers, and rechargeable battery packs. They are not the brightest lights out there, but being small you will be able to place them closer to her. I have a similar light that I use for my videos, and just one of them makes for a pretty well exposed video with standard room lighting.

u/inlandset · 2 pointsr/GH5

A couple cheap bigger lights will go a very long way! This kit would probably meet most of your needs if you're shooting indoors. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072Q42GXQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_HMLJDbS37VVAJ
Add your on camera light as a rim light and you've got some pretty good 3 point lighting for less than $150.

Also, remember to really focus on audio as well! Arguably the most important part of video. :)

Good luck!

u/Strottman · 1 pointr/videography

What a neat instrument, it makes such a relaxing sound.

I actually preferred the white backdrop. The brighter look matched the feeling I got from listening to the instrument more. For lights, I'd recommend some LED panels (1) with soft boxes to diffuse the light and make the shadows against that wall softer and less noticeable. Having better lighting should help out a lot with noise since you don't have to turn the ISO up as much.

I want to record professional course at home which will be sold in online course sites. This will include talking head and screen casting, I use Screencast. My recording area size is 2X2 meters with very few light shines in. Help me build a decent studio in 500$:

Any other thoughts will be blessed

I ordered a small photo box off amazon
and a couple spotlights. It makes all the difference in the world, cost about $30 total and its big enough for about 1 - 3 or 4 figures. I use an ancient 5 megapixel digital camera (top of the line a decade ago lol) and get pretty nice pictures. You can certainly get very good pictures without spending a fortune.

I'd suggest a single source led light. Like this: https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Reflector-Continuous-Recording-Photography/dp/B07PBG17PG

The light can be shaped more easily than with an led panel, and you can get modifiers like a fresnel. They're the best

I have a NZXT Hue+. Right now has Outrun themed colors. I can easily change the colors when I feel like I need something fresh. Sometimes I just have them set to white, sometimes I change them to fit the holiday, sometimes I do different game themes, or sometimes I just set it to a color that fits my mood. The outrun color scheme is that main one I stick with though.

This is the new version of the Hue.

Edit: You can turn them off. I see so many anti-RGB elitists. One of the things I see come up often is that the lights can be annoying at certain times (though personally they haven't annoyed me at all). If you set the color to black, it's just like having no lights at all.

u/PindropAUS · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Maybe this motherboard will be better compared to the ASUS Z170-A, much more white, the audio trace is white LED lit, PCI Express slots are better reinforced, also has SLI capacity, with one extra slot of spacing between graphics card for better air flow: (There is also the more expensive Z170A Krait Gaming 3X variant, as it has USB 3.1 Type C and better placement of the SATA 3 slots )

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-z170kraitgaming

The CPU cooler I would use is the Cryorig R1 Universal, it is very large and come with a white shroud, however it is quite difficult to install similar to a top end noctua

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/cryorig-cpu-cooler-crr1b

Then top it off with some blue or RGB led strips:

You can also add in blue led fans such as Thermaltake Riing:

u/nkdby · 1 pointr/stop_motion

Here are the lights on Neewer's site They are actually "660's". Amazon has them for a decent price right now for $149 . You don't need a DSLR with a focal lens, but it does give you full control. I have shot full sequences on the iPhone alone and had great success.

u/provideocreator · 2 pointsr/videography

Use lighting equipment when you need more light to get clean footage - so you can avoid boosting the ISO, which creates noisy footage.

Otherwise, try to use natural lighting like daylight when possible, since that's the simplest position.

If that doesn't work, you'll want a battery powered LED kit so that you can add light. Those are bright enough for most situations, while still being fairly portable. But keep in mind, you'll need a little more time for setup if you're using those.

u/Gaffers_Tape · 3 pointsr/VIDEOENGINEERING

The lights you linked are nice, but probably far more than you need for what you want to do. Do you already have a plain white wall with no extraneous light source? (windows, etc.) If so, what's in your picture is pretty simple. Basic 3 point lighting (key/fill/back) will do the trick with 2 extra dimmable lights for the background. Softboxes are nice but diffusion will work just fine. In recent years we've switched to color-shifting dimmable LED panels for pretty much everything. these lights are dirt cheap, have black barndoors, and color shift between warm/cool, tungsten/daylight, 3200k/5600k, whatever your preferred terminology is:

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B072QB3K9T/

We have 4 of them and they're fantastic. You probably don't even need the diffusion really but old habits die hard. If I were you I'd get 3 of them plus 2 for the background and you can reproduce that look exactly. (if you already have something you can use for fill or back you can prob get away with 4.)

I assume you already know 3 point lighting, but if not there are plenty of tutorials online.

EDIT - the lights I linked don't come with lights stands, but if you don't already have them here's some cheap ones: https://smile.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Aluminum-7-Foot-Light-Stand/dp/B074VMTP68

“Neewer” is a Chinese company (sold on Amazon) offering many lighting, camera and audio products. For the price pretty amazing stuff. Some minor photo editing would really improve your photos. You can increase the frontal lighting, contrast, sharpness, brightness, deepness, etc. all digitally after the fact and see some drastic improvements. I use a free program called Photoscape which is a simpler, less extensive version of Photoshop, and it's pretty intuitive and user-friendly. People ask me about my photos a lot, and no one believes it's just an iPhone 5S, a tripod, some white poster board, and sometimes these lights. The magic happens with the editing on the computer.

If you're concerned about how well your product is explained, maybe go to some websites selling similar items in the same category and grab some phrases/wording/ideas from their descriptions.

Probably not worth it to promote if you're on the first page anyway, but maybe try it with a low CPC and daily budget and see what happens.

This is a bit nitpicky, but I would maybe opt for some bullet point lists in your descriptions instead of all the sentences and line breaks.

u/rideThe · 1 pointr/photography

The simplest and most economical solution would probably be to use an LED ring, such as in this video. You can find very inexpensive ones on places like Amazon—something like this.

u/stupidspong · 2 pointsr/videography

I went with these lights on a couple of Manfrotto light stands diffused with soft boxes. All combined should put you just under $500.

Edit: Oops, didn't read that you wanted a camera, too...You could use your smartphone (assuming it's newer). Camera quality isn't horrible and if you get a $20 tripod for it, it'll work pretty well

u/RandomMew · 3 pointsr/Flipping

I got these lights from amazon for $18, some white paper from Walmart for .25 cents a sheet, and bought an utility light from Walmart for $8 to hang from the top of the box.

It’s not as light as I would like but it works for what I need it to do.

Bonus: I duct taped empty TP rolls to hold up the lights.

So I picked up a Neewer lightbox with some random LED lights for prime day. For my camera, I'm using an Olympus OMD EM-10 with a 25mm lens. So far I'm liking the results :) Tomorrow I'll practice some more with other kits

Well, I've never done product stuff before and the lighting in your video was really good. I guess I would start with a kit like this and get a couple of diffusers for each to cut the harshness.

alternatively, you can get an LED (or CFL) ringlight -- popular with youtube and instagram mak,eup gurus (my girlfriend is an MUA, so I got her one of these for christmas)

There are cheaper alternatives like this, though it has less LEDs and isn't nearly as bright, or a slightly cheaper CFL option

u/spooky_mans · 5 pointsr/Android

Probably what's known as a "ring light" https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-centimeters-Dimmable-Plastic-Universal/dp/B00ZL177PO/

Good for makeup tutorials and stuff like that.

Sorry but your Hue+ price is way too high. That’s the older model and the current model, Hue 2, is on sale for $49 at Amazon. Even the non-sale price is lower at $81.99.

Some cheap LED strips. I got the same one from Newegg, it's awesome.

u/Betrayus · 1 pointr/buildapc

Interesting this looks like it could work. Does that power brick plug straight into the PSU? How was your experience with the pre applied sticky tape?

You could also use a led ring light, example: https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-centimeters-Dimmable-Plastic-Universal/dp/B00ZL177PO/

Don't take up much space but give good lightning.

u/MisterTacos7 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

DeepCool RGB 350, not the largest variety of colors but it's good for what I needed

u/apachexmd · 1 pointr/DIY

It could be anything from frosted glass to a translucent plastic panel to some satin cloth. If you're DIYing experiment covering your LED array with different materials.

I made a photo booth setup with an ipad and a large DIY ring light with flexible LED strips wrapped with a satin-type ribbon as a diffuser. So you can use a lot of different things to good effect.

I suggest looking at either this kit or the Corsair one..

I got this kit for $45 which was a total deal.. At $80, not so much unless you are also getting RGB fans..

The Viltrox panels are very good and seem to have all the same features as a the fancier Ottlites. Some light DIY required since they don't come with a power adapter or stand.

A desk mount light will be helpful in a tight space. And Dimmable light will meet your different shooting environment.

Here are 2 lights for your consideration:

This is OP. I called a video buddy of mine and he said LED is the way to go for sure. Been doing some research and might get these...

Elgato Key Light
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07L755X9G/
Usually like 300, now 220.
Yes I know they're over-priced lights but a deal is a deal.

edit: I don't understand the down votes, people buy luxury items all the time. Just because it's not good value doesn't mean its a bad deal. It's a relatively big chunk off the MRSP...

u/VortexZeR0 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Maybe, but it's reviews are kinda iffy and it's kinda pricy for a lighting kit. I really just want some simple lights, what about this

Do you mean 500 watts, or a panel that has 500 LEDs on it like this one?

Easiest is to get a softbox for them. Cheapnasty is to put a white plastic bag over them.

Or if you have an extra stand, you can attach a diffusion panel.

Here is what I use, cost me ~$10 in materials from the dollar store. The table top tripod lights ~$20 on amazon Took about 30 minutes to build & a prior 30 to plan. bonus It also collapses flat for storage.
Lightbox construction: 4.5x foam poster boards = box, 2x poster board paper = draper, shower curtain liner = light diffuser, & tape.

  1. I chose to cut out the majority of the area on 3 boards: Sides & top for light source. 2) Cut & tape shower curtain liner over cut-outs to diffuse light source. 3) Tape the 4 walls together. 4) Cut foam board for the back / support wall to size & tape to the edge of the floor panel.
    Finished Product
Chihuahua for scale without proper lighting diffuser.

so this is basically what i want it to look

ill be usin these lights ,in this exact way, with about the same height the camera mount is here https://imgur.com/a/csSwt9e

i just want to know if theres any settings that ill have to change to get that same feel, or it can be done by just setting it to video mode and just film? i guess the question is, will i have to do white balance to get the camara to show that whiteness in that picture above? sorry for my grammar
