I really like sketching with a fountain pen - the Lamy Safari and Rotring ArtPen are good, relatively inexpensive ones - or with my beloved Pentel Pocket Brush Pen. A brush pen takes a bit more time to learn to use but you get really great, expressive lines with it. Throw a white-out pen into your toolkit, like these, and you draw in white back on top of your ink lines, add highlights, or make small corrections easily. Most pens won't draw back on top of the white-out fluid, though, so save it for the very end.

Every time I post a drawing, I always get a couple of PMs with people asking me what I use to draw. For my le'reddit doodles, I keep it pretty simple:

  • Pencil:Straedtler Mars 780 Technical Mechanical Pencil I use HB lead almost exclusively for sketching the layout before I go to inks.

  • Pens: Sakura "Microns" These have been my go to inking pens for years, they're a tried and true champ and they're pretty cheap. There's a lot of milliners out there but these are my favorites by far. For the reddit doodles I really only use the 08, 05, and 01 for the really fine lines.

  • Sharpies and other stuff: I use a lot of Sharpies because they're cheap, typically just to do the thick black lines and fill in the big black spaces. However I also use a Sharpie White Paint Marker for reverse inking and minor corrections as well as Presto Correction Pens.

Nah, daiso's great - they have sailor gels, which are super rare in America and Europe (outside of Japanese stores ofc); you could probably make a decent amount of money actually by buying a few sailor gels (their grip is used in a ton of mods) and trading up from there. They also have ballsigns, although those are pretty common elsewhere (might be cheaper at daiso though, idk)

My local daiso doesn't actually have anything else that's used commonly, but they do have these and this, which I've been meaning to experiment with (the first has already gained a bit of recognition since they look like clear, miniature comssas, although since they're thinner they can't be used in any of the same ways)

Voila

Edit: IIRC, most royal blues will work, but there are specifically ones labeled "washable". Not common here in the States, but they can be found I believe. They are pretty awesome though. Definitely less of a hassle than erasing a pencil mark.

That's probably why. Most kids in France write with using FP with cartridges (I think they are mandatory in primary school and in High School some of my teachers would require students to use FP during tests) so ink erasers are super popular there.

The same eraser as in the picture : http://www.amazon.fr/Papermate-Reynolds-Magic-Effaceur-r%C3%A9%C3%A9criveur/dp/B008AABVZU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450772049&sr=8-1&keywords=%C3%A9ffaceur (french Amazon)

You are probably right about bottled ink. Is it possible to fill any pen with regular cartridge ink or is it complicated ?

If you live in US here’s a link: Pelikan - Super Pirat Ink Eradicator for Royal Blue - Broad - Pack of 2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007JTFU3W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_E6RHDbAFY4NH4

Yep! I didn't know those were a things until one of my punk friends told me about them. Before that, I was using Wite-Out because that's all I had.

I went in the UK and still remember the exciting transition from pencil to fountain pen. I felt it marked me as officially 'old'. I think it was around 7 or 8 yrs old? Any other Brits remember the erasers?! Made your work look like shit! http://www.amazon.com/Lamy-Eraser-Blue-Overwriter-fine/dp/B005BWVL6E

And here it is on Amazon. Thanks for pointing that out.

Well, time to rewrite some stuff.

u/areilly76 · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

In the US the only places I found were JetPens and Amazon

Pelikan Royal Blue is erasable, that might come handy in HS.

Eraser pen

Edit: I should say that it is a common school ink in Germany, so it needs to work on different papers.

u/Nessybach · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

You can actually erase that ink with one of those: Eraser

u/superoblivionbread · 5 pointsr/fountainpens

Probably not in the rubber eraser sense, but these ink corrector things exist They are used to erase a typical royal blue ink like Pelikan 4001 or the like. The idea being you use the eradicator to get rid of the fountain pen error and use the blue end of the corrector to do the correction (because the fountain pen won't work in the eradicated space anymore.) Ignore the bad reviews--those are people who are trying to erase the the ink that you're supposed to use for the correction.

I don't know if Noodler's blues would work or not. Some probably would.

Edit: it's through some chemical reaction. They don't work with inks other than royal-blue types..
