For the first one. If brushing doesn't get it out you may want to look up, what we call at work, a winder. We use this one at work. It does heat up but it takes a while. It'll blow out all the excess hair and make your brushing help. You don't have to get that one, research them. They are very loud (ear protection for you and your pup is a must) but I've had compliments that dogs don't shed for a month after using one of those on them.

I groom my BMD mix and my Poodle mix myself. I brush them maybe three times a week and it takes about ten minutes for a quick brush through. They get a bath roughly every three weeks and I dry them with this towel and also use a shop vac blow drying feature to help speed up the process.

Every six weeks or so I use my grooming table, cordless clipper and trimmer, shears and other supplies to do a full body groom. Everything from bath-grooming cost me between $200-$300 for both dogs who would have otherwise cost $100 every six weeks each at our groomer. Both of my dogs are very active, two walks and an hour at the dog park everyday, hiking and swimming once a week. You can imagine they get pretty dirty so I make sure they're well kept.

Try a dry shampoo and work on one small section at a time. Focus on her feet, "armpits", and anal gland areas, as those are the most likely culprits for odor. Make it a two person job, with one of you calmly holding her leash and collar and feeding her treats while the other works.

Be careful; stressed dogs can snap and bite.

There will come a time when only a real bath will do. Please don't lower her into water! That is a recipe for disaster with many dogs. Here are some tools that will help:

Non-slip mat

Bathtub tether

Shower wand

Scrubbing mitt

Spray her with warm water from the neck back (no face!), then turn the shower wand off. Apply shampoo and lather well, then turn the shower wand back on to rinse her well. Use a damp (not dripping) cloth to wipe her face.

Also consider a mobile grooming van. They could come to you with the tools and experience to make the process as quick, safe, and stress-free as possible.

If her odor doesn't seem like the normal, familiar dog smell, have the vet check her out. Bad smells can come from infections of the mouth, ears, skin, or elsewhere.

> If we didnt walk in the rain, we'd never go for a walk.

Absolutely. I've found that if I open the back door to let them out, my collies act as if they are made of sugar and will melt in the rain. Prissy weenies.

OTOH, if I put on my wet weather gear and head out with them, they'll look woebegone for a few minutes and then are OK. That said they are leery of the sound of cars in wet pavement and hate being splashed. I'm also aware that drivers can't see as well in the rain and so go on routes that keep us as far from cars as possible.

They are much more accepting of rain when in the woods though they can get really muddy.

About mud. I saw this type of wet dog coat sold in the UK: https://www.trovercoats.com/product/limited-edition-dog-robe .

The price was a bit much to buy the UK ones and this is the nearest thing I found in the US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MEYNTLW/ref=sspa_dk_detail_2?psc=1 and https://www.amazon.com/Dog-Robe-Arcadian-Microfiber-Lightweight/dp/B01BUI0PZU/ref=pd_sbs_199_6?_encoding=UTF8&refRID=XTZGHCE2EVTRNEBB0V2A .

I have one of each and they do a great job of drying off a wet dog. I keep one in the car to throw on at the end of a wet hike and, with the addition of a quick toweling of the legs, it helps a lot to keep the interior cleaner.

This might help keep the tub clean so you don’t have to wipe off the remaining peanut butter (if there ever is any, o’course).

We just got this pool for our two sheps. They love it. The XXL is 63” across

What about something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QH42S5Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_cPvjDbJWRDV4M

Looks like it can hold a little over 15 gallons of water if I did my math right. Plenty for a shower. 👍

Jasonwell Foldable Dog Pet Bath Pool Collapsible Dog Pet Pool Bathing Tub Kiddie Pool for Dogs Cats and Kids (39.5inch.D x 11.8inch.H, Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MU0JMNG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_NKV1Db85P7BR8

He seems to really like it, and it’s much bigger than his old tub.

u/abby89 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Can it be an add-on?? It's going to be hard otherwise. Hmm... let me dig through my list.

Okay, this pet towel is the closest thing I've got that isn't an add-on... and it's over $5 by 26 cents :(

If you ARE doing add-ons (YAY) then this stuff is exactly $5.

Congrats on the Prime! :D

I bought a high velocity dryer recently. Hooolly Shit.

As far as dealing with my GSD's shedding goes, the human dryers are basically a light wind. If it weren't for the noise my girl wouldn't even notice. The HV dryer makes her hair explode to the point that it looks like my backyard is snowing. It's wonderful.

Now if you're asking what's the difference between a regular hair dryer and one of these sorts of pet dryers.....basically nothing except packaging and probably a markup.

There are different hose attachments for dogs.

We have a chow retriever mix with lots of fluff and these robes are amazing. Put it on outside the front door and let them wear it around the house for about 30 mins. They look ridiculous, but it dries them off really quick and contains any stray drops from indoor shake offs!

Can’t remember if this is the specific one we got but there are lots of similar options.
