Sorry this took so long, but here you goz I added hats, gloves, and scarves as a sort of apology for being so late:

Good outer coats: https://www.amazon.com/ELORA-Womens-Winter-Jacket-Fleece-Trim/dp/B07BS4GTJC/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1540096730&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=winter+coat+for+women&psc=1

Find something long and thick with a cozy hood. Make sure it is water resistent as well.

Good undercoats:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074WZL5CL/ref=sspa_dk_detail_5?psc=1

https://www.amazon.com/CAMEL-CROWN-Waterproof-Windbreaker-Outdoor/dp/B07FTB6Z34/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1540096730&sr=8-17&keywords=winter+coat+for+women

https://www.amazon.com/Wantdo-Womens-Mountain-Waterproof-Windproof/dp/B01CVG8VCY/ref=pd_sbs_193_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01CVG8VCY&pd_rd_r=ea1b4a58-d4eb-11e8-8519-db044f09735a&pd_rd_w=VAj4x&pd_rd_wg=6BXiE&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=763ccc93-bfa2-47be-85ae-0cdd7e00b3da&pf_rd_r=KT5AYQEB1ANASNS1VTCM&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&refRID=KT5AYQEB1ANASNS1VTCM

Find something warm but light and with or without a hood- it doesn't matter too much unless you plan on using it in spring, in which case get one with a hood or a removable hood.

Good hats:

https://www.amazon.com/Yesurprise-Trapper-Russian-Trooper-Windproof/dp/B075L5G81C/ref=sr_1_9?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1540097173&sr=1-9&nodeID=7141123011&psd=1&keywords=warm+winter+hat+with+earflap

Get something with clippable ear flaps. Trust me, they'll be lifesavers. Water resistance is important as well.

Good gloves:

https://www.amazon.com/OZERO-Deerskin-Leather-Motorcycle-Cycling/dp/B07DZYG7CB/ref=sr_1_11?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1540097380&sr=1-11&nodeID=7147440011&psd=1&keywords=warm+waterproof+winter+gloves

Get something water proof and with fingers. Mittens are the worst when you have to do something outside. Wrist straps are great for keeping the snow out.

Face coverings:

https://www.amazon.com/Seirus-Innovation-Neofleece-Combo-Scarf/dp/B0018BGFF4/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1540097490&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=warm+waterproof+winter+face+covering

Make sure it covers your face, nose, cheeks, and neck (front and back). If it goes over your entire head like a hat that's even better, it's perfect for wearing under a hat. You'll want it to be waterproof. I find face coverings work better than scarves.

Columbia Womens Morning Light II Omni Heat Long Jacket Coat Puffer (XS, Teal) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JBMH9WF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_C9roDbG7A8H3K

I love this Columbia one! It’s super thin, easy to clean, and really warm. You’ll definitely want to get a parka (it really helps with the wind). Also, you don’t need to spend more than $100, or even $80. A good winter coat doesn’t have to be super expensive.

u/Justascruffygirl · 15 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Not quite Siberia, but Chicago gets pretty dang cold. I used to walk a little under a mile to get to class when high temps were around 2-8F and lows were in the negatives. I was fine with my fashiony parka (I think it was this Kenneth Cole one). Provided, I also wore wool or fleece long underwear under my pants, 2 pairs of wool socks, thick-soled boots (Docs), a wool sweater, a knit scarf that covered most of my face, a fleece hat that covered the rest of my face, and two pairs of gloves.

You definitely don't need a super expensive coat to stay warm. I think mine isn't even 100% down, it's like 60% down, 40% feathers. Canada Goose is expensive largely because they're super trendy. You can get a 100% down coat for way less. Patagonia sells a number of 100% down waterproof parkas for like $300-400, which is still expensive but not >$1000 like Canada Goose.

u/moonjuniper · 7 pointsr/HerOneBag

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C8M6PZJ/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1but the stuff bag it comes with is useless, you have to get another stuff bag to stuff the coat into. this coat is lightweight and warm!

but slightly even more lightweight and less bulky and prettier than above, but not as warm as above, is the 32 degrees coat https://www.amazon.com/32-DEGREES-Womens-Hooded-Packable/dp/B07HJC4GQQ/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=32+degrees+coat&qid=1555000372&s=gateway&sr=8-8

the stuff bag that comes with is good!

i love the 32 degrees jackets and wear them daily. https://www.amazon.com/32-DEGREES-Womens-Weight-Packable/dp/B07H5W59YH/ref=sr_1_18?keywords=32%2Bdegrees%2Bjacket&qid=1555000424&s=gateway&sr=8-18&th=1

the stuff bag that comes with is good!

amazon essentials also has jackets but i hated the fit.

32 degrees also has their own website often with cheaper prices than amazon!

I'd love to be considered. I'm from Oregon and it's absolutely freezing. I haven't had a new coat in years but yet all 5 of my kids do. It's the little things that make your day like fuzzy socks or a warm hoodie or even a brand new coat. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

u/korravai · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/topics/clothing-womens/best-winter-jacket-womens This is more about weatherproofing and warmth ratings than fashion, but you can read their pretty in depth reviews.
Here's a cheaper parka than the Patagonia one they recommend as having great weatherproofing : https://www.amazon.com/Eddie-Bauer-Womens-Valley-Parka/dp/B0095W3XDA?th=1&psc=1

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

My number one answer? A winter coat. I have a few spring/fall kind of lighter jackets that I layer with sweaters, but even in Texas, winter gets cold. I'm starting to save up for a good winter coat like this.

Cheaper answer? Socks.

Both are on my "Miscellaneous" list.

u/Zuzublue · 2 pointsr/GearTrade

I don’t have one to sell, but got a Columbia last year for every day wear and I love it. Has a hood, covers my butt, is thin enough to wear in the car comfortably, but also warm enough for a New England football game. Okay, so: here's one by BCBGeneration in dark brown that's almost certainly the right cut, but the wrong color. I think it's a perfect match for the photo, but the bad news is, they don't sell it. You can check used couture sites or closet sites, but it's going to be a long slog. Knowing it's from BCBGeneration probably helps.

Here are some alternatives that have the quilted sleeve detail that makes your piece distinctive...

  • Kensie has a close match available on Amazon for $134
  • This one is in dark brown from an Amazon House Brand for $82
  • This piece also by BCBGeneration, says it's "army green" but the image shows black. $149.
  • EDIT: Here are a few more results from BCBGeneration in a similar vein: 1, 2, 3 ... still nothing that really matches the original though.

    Hope this helps.

If you're a lady, Sorels and Uggs are popular boots in the winter. Just know that Uggs aren't waterproof. Not sure how much it costs to get them waterproofed. But I had a pair of Uggs and paid dearly this past winter for their lack of waterproofness. Also I purchased this coat via Zappos last winter and it was a great investment. I still had to wear a sweater underneath during the coldest Polar Vortex days (like -10 or so below zero ... I didn't leave my apartment when it got colder than that), but for temps up to 40 degrees, it's great. Above 40 or so, you can do a wool pea coat.

u/Lpb36 · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I live in the Bay Area too. I use this in navy, and absolutely love it! It may be too warm for you though, if you say denim/wool are too heavy. I just get cold easily :D

I do think a bomber jacket would work really well. Another option is a light trench coat. Orrrrrr just forget about a coat and layer with a thicker sweater. Sometimes that's all I need, depending on the temperature!

As someone who also must bear northeast winters, I would recommend the following:

  • Something that is long enough to cover her butt. Knee-length is even better!
  • A shell that is wind and water-repellant
  • A puffy coat with filling (a lot of people like down because it is light, breathable, and warm, although poly fill is another common alternative)

From here, the style variations might include: faux fur/fur lined hood, a belt, different styles of quilting, various types of hardware (zipper, buttons) and so forth.

    Some examples:

    T Tahari Down Coat- $159

Lands End Squall Parka - $109-169

    DKNY Blakely - $189.90

Not exactly a simple question but not sure where else to post this... there are a lot of down coats on sale on amazon for $9-15. Really good brands like Betsey Johnson- I’m assuming this is a scam right? They’re all from 2 sellers with no reviews. I️ don’t know how they plan on scamming people if amazon processes the payment and will obviously give returns.... any ideas? Example:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00X5WMIXC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1510418314&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=betsey+johnson+belted+down+coat&dpPl=1&dpID=41R4muXbc8L&ref=plSrch

ladies heated parka! there's a mens version here.... I honestly suspect these will take over the world. wish there was a way for me to invest in them! enjoy

Here are some lilac colored ones I found, I tried not to go over the $100 mark by too much and most are under that. There's not a ton of options since $100 is fairly low for a coat especially right now when none of them are on sale. You should definitely look again at the end of the season.

Here are some other ones that I found and thought were interesting. I tried to find a bunch of different styles.

Girly Preppy Plaid (black/white/pink)

I found most of these using shopstyle.com because you can narrow by price and color, so there's probably tons more you could find. Preowned through ebay/poshmark/etc would be a good option too.
