Hey friends, I am a medical student and am in need of some new dress pants for practice patient interviews. Our syllabus says "dress slacks" should be worn with a tie and dress shirt. I'm not exactly sure what that means. I've been looking at some mostly cotton pants on amazon that look alright ("Goodthreads" brand - link) I'm concerned that these wouldn't be "dressy" enough. I've also looked at some polyester pants, but those seem more like they should be worn with suits. So I guess I'm just looking for some suggestions on budget (sub $60 if possible) pants that would look good and also be comfortable. I'm a skinny dude and like the look of slim fit pants on myself.

Edit - My shoes are brown if that makes any difference

I'm not sure of the composition of the Express pants, but I have these pants in several colors for work and they're awesome. Around $35-40 depending on size/sale, very slim fit without tailoring, fairly stretchy, wool-look, and drape nicely. I also work in an office setting (I saw you mentioned this in a comment) where people mostly wear dress shirts and dress slacks as part of a business casual dress code, and these are my daily go-to.

If you don't have any luck in store then zappos and amazon both sell them and both have free shipping and returns (qualifies for free super saver shipping on amazon) so you can buy a few sizes and return what you don't want. If it's any help I sized my alphas the same as my Levis 511s and they fit.

My exact experience too, although thankfully I bought 2 pairs. They are the most comfortable pants I've ever worn! Thankfully you can still buy them on Amazon (and I did buy one more pair) for about the same price ($5 more.)

Colors may be a little boring, but I love these Izod golf pants. I wear them all the time to work because they're very comfortable.

I like these ok, but I'd try them on in a store before getting them, I've got two pairs that have slightly different leg lengths. Good luck!

You’re not the only one.

I bought some of these... super lightweight and make it look like you aren’t even breaking a sweat. They aren’t super cheap though.

I may be female but I enjoy wearing fashion similar to men. I've found nice button ups for around $20-30 for both men and women and then there's business slacks and pants you can check out.

Maybe Dockers City Khaki in slim taper? Haven't tried them myself but they look like a good buy off amazon for a work pant.

You picked a good one to start with! Just the right amount of collecting and creating! Start with some men's linen pants, blue fingerless gloves, a white t-shirt, and a blue cotton jacket. You could find knee pad from a sports store and a the scarf and headband from a fabric store. Pick up some foam pieces, gold buttons, and paint from the craft store. The hardest part, I would definitely say is the detail on the back of the jacket. I'm not familiar with the source material, but if it's armor, then use more foam pieces to create a hardened shell, if it's fabric, you can sew or just paint it. One thing is that you'll end up spending more money then you'd think, but don't get discouraged! And of course, the biggest requirement, post some pictures here when you're done!

Dockers Alpha Khakis

Am I right in that these are more closely related to a jean like look/feel as compared to dockers D1 khakis (which are definitely more slack/chino feel)? I was looking for some grey chinos and I know I tried on tapered dockers before and loved the fit, but looking for more business casual vs jeans.

Here's the link for amazon if you wanna look.

So I bought a pair of Dockers D3 in 36x32 because I've put on a few pounds since college and that was what fit. I hate the way they look though. The D1s were way to tight and I don't remember the D2's fitting well either. Are there any other alternatives out there for a guy of my build? I feel like there has to be another brand that provides a better taper or something more flattering.
Edit: To add context, I'm wearing them with these shoes

My favorite pair of pants is no longer sold. It was Dockers Men's Washed Khaki Straight-Fit Flat-Front Pant. I like them because they are 98% Cotton, 2% Elastane. Anything over 2% Elastane feels like I am wearing a trash bag. They were also comfy yet work appropriate.

Any suggestions for a 42x30 "washed" khaki (98% to 100% cotton) that come in a variety of colors like this: https://www.amazon.com/Dockers-Mens-Khaki-Classic-Front/dp/B002Q8HFJ8

I've been thinking a little about color of my shirt... I was thinking striped white/blue in some way or is that too tacky? Should I just stick with a solid color? I was thinking tan pants. **Edit: I think I changed my mind and thinking black or a darker color pants. Looking at maybe the black, gravel, or steelhead of these? http://www.amazon.com/Dockers-Alpha-Khaki-Tapered-Gravel/dp/B004VQBJKE/r probably a different color shirt then as well.

I will definitely pick up a few of those Landsend shorts. Thank you for that.

u/swicano · 1 pointr/frugalmalefashion

what exactly do you mean? you mean youd rather have front pockets that are rounded rather than just an entrance at the seam so that you can actually get into the pocket while sitting?

if so, these might work http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007Y5ITZM/ref=asc_df_B007Y5ITZM2201097?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&linkCode=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B007Y5ITZM&tag=wwwshopstylec-20&ascsubtag=555722391 they look alright, i guess. idk. 50 - 80 is pretty standard msrp in my mind. might just have to look around for sales on the brands you like
