Ultimately intelligent training and proper recovery and mobility work will give probably the biggest benefit to your joints. However when bodyweight training or simply aiming to be healthier it is important to have low levels of inflammation. Glucosamine can help but a solid omega 3 supplement would be similar. I'd personally recommend the following as a joint stack.

Collagen - Can by in a collagen hydrolysate form which is powdered (here) or simply drink a good bone/chicken broth daily. Collagen is the most abundant protein in your body and the one found in your joints. among other places. I'd recommend 10g a day, you can add to shakes or even cups of tea or coffee as it is heat stable. Alternatively drink 1-2 cups of bone broth a day. I personally have the bone broth daily and collagen every now and again.

Omega 3/Cod Liver Oil - To generally lower inflammation. I prefer a good cod liver oil, like this as it comes with those good omega 3's and a load of fat soluble vitamins like A, D, E, K2 etc. I take 1 tsp daily. Consuming oily fish daily can give the same effect.

Curcumin Phytosome - Curcumin is a turmeric extract that is a very powerful anti-inflammatory, I personally take this daily and feel huge help with inflammation compared to when I don't. 500mg of a good extract daily. Consuming just turmeric isn't as good as you'd have to take like 20g of it, it's also not particularly well absorbed.

Vitamin C - This helps your body synthesize it's own collagen. Buy it in a crystal form of L-Ascorbic acid. Would recommend 1-3g daily taken throughout the day.

Generally have a good diet that is low in inflammatory foods, like grains (wheat, oats, barley), pasteurized dairy, seed oils (rapeseed/canola, sunflower), processed foods and sugar, but high in oily fish, good quality meat, nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruit and raw dairy :)

Been using both for some times and seen improvements in my bloodwork.

She technically just told me to take folic acid or a prenatal vitamin (I edited my post to reflect that -- so sorry for the confusion). She said, "Folic acid is very important." After a bit of research I ended up purchasing [these] (http://www.amazon.com/Rainbow-Light-Prenatal-Petite-180-Count/dp/B002CPRLH6) prenatal vitamins (because the amounts of each vitamin in them lined up with the recommendations that I found somewhere online (can't remember where right now...). I also purchased a [DHA supplement] (http://www.amazon.com/Wileys-Finest-Prenatal-Supplement-Softgels/dp/B00JGZJ3UI/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1457133060&sr=1-1&keywords=wiley%27s+dha) because that sounded important, too.

It may be worth talking to your doctor again about how soon prior to trying to get pregnant she/he recommends starting to take supplements. This was the first time I've seen this particular doctor, but she seemed fairly knowledgeable. One of the reviews that I read on Amazon said that her doctor recommended starting prenatal vitamins only one month prior to trying to get pregnant.

Thanks for following my Instagram account -- it will soon be flooded with pictures of flowers! Come on, spring!

You care about the amount of EPA and DHA in it, not the total amount, so be sure to check for those two ingredients. The super cheap brands don't even list them separately, whereas the more expensive brands will be mostly EPA and DHA and list the exact amounts. There are fairly cheap brands on amazon with a good balance, I use http://amzn.com/B004U3Y9FU

I take Nature Made fish oil.

Yes, I take the Creatine every morning.

I figure 10000 IU of vitamin D couldn't hurt. I've read that too much vitamin D can be harmful, but I've also read that 10000 IU is the upper limit for being safe.

u/ugonnagetit · 6 pointsr/milliondollarextreme

i ordered this stuff before, because i suspect i am a vitamin d deficient vampire, it smelled of tuna fish pussy so I decided not to try any of it, the reviews say it is very good but some say sometimes it can ship rancid so i didnt take any chances, i probably should have taken some, it's still just sitting in my cupboard perhaps it's 'still good' I think it will smell like tunahole even if it's not rancid

u/GardenGnostic · 2 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

Where did you buy it? I looked up the packaging on the internet.
Here is the box.

Another pic of a different box.

But I also found this, and it might be an envelope.

The Keeper appears to be brown rubber, but the Moon Cup is clear Silicon.

Here's a picture of the box.

I don't think they come in sketchy envelopes. Return it.

I'm taking this supplement:

https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Bounty-Salmon-1000mg-120-Count/dp/B000GG86YK

I didn't get to research much on the types of omega3 supplements available, just went with the one that was available at my local pharmacy. If you are ordering from amazon, I think there might be better products out there though.

u/RocketMorten · 6 pointsr/Supplements

No, it's kinda the opposite. DHA 700 only contains DHA, Amarin fish oil capsules only contain EPA. Omega 800 is a mix.

†Vascepa 1-gram capsules contain 1 gram of icosapent ethyl, a form of the unique Omega-3 fatty acid known as EPA, and inactive ingredients.

Looks like this would be a good non-prescription alternative: https://www.amazon.com/Pharmepa-RESTORE-Omega-3-serving-softgels/dp/B007TUK2IE

Just bought these at Costco yesterday: Link

Kirkland is like the Costco store brand. They have it on Amazon through reseller markup: Link

u/im14 · 1 pointr/yoga

How often can you do yoga? Seems like just as often as you'd like, no?

Well, not really.

Even assuming you won't get injured on the mat (most people don't get injuries from yoga), there's another thing that'll slow you down.

You will come to a point when your joints will start to hurt, so pay close attention to this. In most cases (and in my case) it's shoulder and wrist joints.

There's a couple of reasons for this pain, and in each case you need to make adjustments to avoid doing long-term damage to your body:

  1. You may be doing the asana/transition wrong, in which case you're putting too much pressure on certain joint and cause damage. For example, in chaturanga combo, one needs to really lean forward when going from high to low plank to avoid putting too much stress on the shoulders.
  2. You may be doing too much yoga, and your joints, simply not used to the load, begin to show signs of inflammation (pain, swelling). In this case, slow down, take a few days off, learn to adjust your posture to put less pressure on given joint (or avoid doing asana altogether for a while), and invest into anti-inflammation agents. Such as Flameout from Biotest.

Finally, there are many different kinds of yoga. If you have an injury or pain that prevents you from doing the "active" yoga, you may benefit from restorative yoga classes, which are a lot easier on the body but still bring great benefits.

They are pills

I also like these two fish oil products: one and two

u/sksS13 · 1 pointr/Fitness

1g/lb for Protein and .5g/lb of Fat.

The Wiki will tell that your essential fatty acids must be met within this limit before other types of fats should be considered, yet it doesn't tell you exactly how much of each essential fatty acid you need. According to this, you want to aim for 2-3g/day omega-3 and 20g/day omega-6. Basically, 2 fish oil soft gels and 100g of pecans or any nut at a quantity that will yield that amount of omega-6.

Remainder of calories go towards carbohydrates. I would also recommend taking 5,000-6,000IU of Vitamin D3 and half a serving of Animal Pak everyday.

u/bewaretherabbit · 3 pointsr/Weakpots

Vitamin Shoppe

I just ordered them because I saw they were highly recommend maybe on labdoor or someplace?

u/Randamba · 1 pointr/Supplements

Your fish oil choice is poor because the quantity of omega types is low.

this

or

this

I use the second one, but I'm thinking about swapping to the first one after I run out.

Oh, and I'm also still going to recommend lowering your Vitamin D intake to 2-4k IU instead of 10k.

In case anyone in the future is curious here are the pills I bought.

u/PursuitOfKnowledge · 1 pointr/islam

It would be better to avoid doing even that because it's cross-contaminated. If you really want to have fish oil, consider NoorVitamins Halal Fish Oil Softgels, fish oil in vegetarian capsules, or purchasing fish oil in liquid form and using empty vegetarian capsules to consume it.

u/cal1fub3ralle5 · 1 pointr/Guitar

Yeah i was aware that there were different versions. I bought this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001181OJG

u/whereistehnarwhal · 4 pointsr/Fitness

How did this comment get downvoted? ALL that matters in fish oil is the EPA and DHA content. Flameout has the highest and I am not affiliated with biotest in any way other than when they get my money because I buy their product

u/browneyedbroad · 1 pointr/Accutane

I got these (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002VLZHLS) for less than $15 at costco and they’ve done the job. I take one with each dose (40mg 2x/day).

1 gram of nearly pure EPA per 2 for 90 softgels for $21.

u/Nicky4Pin · 1 pointr/Fitness

Personally I take this one. It is USP verified.

u/frg1 · 2 pointsr/Supplements

Going through a similar problem as you regarding me knee atm. What helped me was cissus quadrangularis fish oil specifically this brand http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002VLZHLS?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 and osteo biflex. The fish oil i took double what was recommended.

u/sgrundy · 7 pointsr/Fitness

Nobody mentioned biotest flameout . Don't know if that means i'm ahead of the curve or a retard

Like these because there's just a whole ton of dha (2200 mg) + epa (880 mg), and that ratio of higher dha is supposed to be better for guys(citation needed). Only way I can get that much before was with just liquid but last time I tried that I regretted it

u/RobotPigOverlord · 3 pointsr/IsItBullshit

Its really hard, i completely understand. You are not a lost cause, there is something out there that will work for you, you just have to find it. Also be sure to work on identifying any lifestyle factors that may be contributing. This includes physical health issues such as vitamin D deficiency, thyroid hormone imbalance, vitamin/mineral deficiency, lack of omega 3s in your diet (a person with depression should be taking 1-2g of a high quality omega 3 supplement daily (with a meal) which contains roughly around 60% EPA, 40% DHA. heres one that fits that description, a person with depression should take 3 per day. For those people (like myself) who eat a plant based diet, i take these which are omega 3s extracted from algae (fish have omega 3s because they eat algae). I also take a vitamin D3 supplement daily because i can't get enough sun naturally, and i keep a calcium/magnesium/zinc complex and multi-vitamin in my cabinet to take a few times a week on those days when I have been really busy and haven't had time to eat until i get home late, and know that the one meal I'm having cant provide me with everything i need so I'll take some calcium and a multi after dinner to just throw in some of those important minerals and vitamins that my brain/body need to keep itself running smoothly.

Take the following as well... realize that pain only stuff (like CBD) may actually cause your arthritis to get worse over time. You need to take an anti inflammatory route, as well as provide your joints with more material & lubrication (fish oil).
