I have a Kel Tec P3AT. I know that doesn't get a lot of love, but it has been a reliable gun for me. It's made in the US and has a warranty even if you buy it used, if it is damaged by any means, including your own negligence, they'll fix or replace the gun.

All-in-all, I like Kel Tec. And remember that 99% of holsters that fit the LCP fit the P3AT.

As for holsters for pocket pistols, I prefer pocket holsters that prevent printing. I like keeping my pistol in my back pocket where I would normally keep my wallet, for several reasons that I won't waste your time going into unless you ask. So the holsters I recommend for that, even if you go with an LCP, are these:

Talon Wallet Holser, which I currently carry.
DeSantis Trickster, which I have never used before but looks nice and is DeSantis
DeSantis Nemesis, which I carried for many years, but I felt like it printed a bit too much
Garrison Grip orGUNizer, which is super cheap but looks well made. Haven't used it.

Here’s what I use for my Glock 19: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M5CNN69

It’s not the greatest holster ever but it’s relatively inexpensive and it fits the Glock 19 perfectly. I wear it in the 4 o’clock position and it’s perfectly fine.

Get a good thick belt to use with it. As a matter of fact, here’s the exact belt I have: http://www.saddlebackleather.com/full-grain-leather-belt

The holster clip fits that belt perfectly.

u/DoubledPawns · 1 pointr/CCW

I use this holster for my G19. It's a cheapo but I find it to be very comfortable and works great. If you want something nicer, go for Bravo Concealment or Alien Gear. Cheers!

u/beast_in_black · 2 pointsr/opencarry

+1 on all the points here, especially on the Safariland instead of the Serpa.

Personally, I use the Safariland 6360 ALS/SLS for my 1911, which provides Level-III retention; here's one in basketweave finish and one in a plain black finish for the G19 if you're interested.

Note that by default it comes with a belt loop for 2.25" duty belts (which is how I wear mine), but you can get Universal Belt Loop adapters for other belt widths so it can be worn with dress belts - here's a UBL for 2" belts, and here's one for 1.5" belts.

I like the 6360 a bit better than the 6378 because of the added retention provided by the SLS hood, as well as the secure belt loop instead of the paddle.

Also, the offer for OC company is a good one; I'll be happy to give you guys company on your OC jaunts on the weekends, if you can PM me about a day in advance.

u/Studman96 · 2 pointsr/EDC

I love mine so far. I started out with a Concealment Express AIWB, cheapo kydex holster off of Amazon, just to see if I liked appendix carry. The Stealthgear is definitely far more comfortable, the material doesn't stick to your skin like the pure kydex does. It really comes down to whether or not you like appendix, what your body-type is, etc. If you do, then this holster is definitely worth it.

Only downside is the high price tag and the 25-day turnaround.

Was able to find this one for you. I don’t have any experience with this brand; I’ve only used DeSantis holesters. I’ll have to look when I get home but I’m pretty sure that for my Ruger LCR; it fit their S&W J frame holester like a glove. I would think your RIA revolver would do the same or you can go with the link I sent ya to get you started in the right direction.

u/Hunter62610 · 1 pointr/Throwers

As to the belt loop only thing... That hard to implement. This holder relies on a secure strap like a belt to hold it in place. If it hung loose, or on a thin strap, you would end up turning the holster with the yoyo when you go to remove it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ZFXIO9Q/ref=pd_aw_sbs_201_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=4P7WQMQQ1335VEA06Z0C

However, those exist. I never liked them, but if I add it, it would allow you to go beltless...

I will work on it. Thanks again for the awesome idea.

I use a Clip Draw with my Bodyguard 380,https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00T19NYDQ/ref=cm_sw_r_oth_api_LOYozbFR35V7M. I know a lot of people will hate, that there is no cover for the trigger, but between the manual safety and the ridiculously heavy trigger pull I feel comfortably safe and have not had an issue in 4+ years. The best part is you can wear it with gym shorts that will tie tight.

u/[deleted] · 3 pointsr/gundeals

nothing special, it's this leather one from Galco i got from amazon.

it works great, it has two different angled belt slots so you can wear it cross draw, which is how i wear it when i'm walking about in the woods. i wear it at about 10 or 11o clock like that, and it's comfortable and out of the way. other times i've worn it going out to town i've done it the standard way at 4-5 o clock and it's been ok, just tougher to hide the bulge, which i technically don't have to worry about but i like to keep it hidden.

i bought a Kenai for it too, which i've used occasionally in the woods, it's ok but i'm still not crazy about it. maybe i just havent found the perfect fit and spot for it on my chest/stomach yet. it also is kinda large and clunky and has an audible sound from the oversized clips but also i think the gun clacks around a bit. if i were to buy another one i'd buy a leather holster in this style, also can be found on amazon.

I have been using a DeSantis Summer Heat IWB holster for the last two years just about daily. It has held up amazingly well, and it is extremely comfortable. It looks great too being nice leather.

u/natestovall · 3 pointsr/Firearms

why not go 9mm if it's open carry? I saw a reply that you're smaller then most, so I won't bust your chops about going with .45ACP. My mom has a S&W 1911 Pro in 9mm and that pistol is a tack driver. I love shooting it, and there is very little recoil.

I carry .380, 9mm, or ,45ACP depending on time of year/what I'm wearing. but I can confidently say anything a 380 does, a 9mm does better.

And FFS you definitely need a better holster. Spend the $ for something that will last... like this

I bought it last year. It looks like they have slimmed it down a bit since I bought mine. But it’s great. I’ve been carrying it over a year now and love it.

I love this little guy. It comes with another clip that can fit a 1.5" belt. You can cant it a bit so the grip rides above your belt, or you can straight up shove the entire gun down under your beltline. It vanishes at 6 o'clock for me. You can trim it a little if you don't ever intend to use it as a pocket holster, and IMO the material is more comfortable than having kydex against your skin.

u/PrometheusSmith · 2 pointsr/CCW

I carry a G43 IWB with a Blackhawk ARC. I carry my gun on my 4:30 or so, right handed. I've had this holster for several months now, and I think it fits the criteria you are wanting.

It covers almost the entire gun. The muzzle end is open, but the inside of the holster stays lint free.

It is made from one piece of material, so the corners are all rounded, plus there is a slight amount of give to the material that keeps it from digging in. However it keeps its shape well enough that it would never collapse when you try to reholster.

The retention is all on the trigger guard, and is adjustable with a single screw.

The trigger is completely covered, but the holster does not block the bottom of the trigger guard. You can get a perfect grip on the gun.

The two clips that are included with the holster will fit 1.5" and 1.75" belts. They are adjustable for ride height, and the cant is infinitely adjustable, but will not change once set and tightened.

It is not tuckable, but the low cost means that you won't be upset if you need a tuckable holster down the road. And when I say low cost, I mean really cheap. Less than a box of range ammo.

One side note, the trigger shape is not molded into the holster.

P.S. I wear a 5.11 tactical belt.

u/Jack_Shid · 1 pointr/CCW

I carry my LC9s in a Desantis Mini-Scabbord. It stays tight to my body, and the cant is perfect for me.

I only own the two 9mm's, so I can't really compare my SR9c to anything, but I will say that I personally like it better than any other 9mm I've ever fired. It just fits me. I carry it in a Blackhawk Serpa, and it conceals well under a t-shirt with a light jacket or a flannel. Perfect for fall/winter carry.

u/zxj4k3xz · 1 pointr/airsoft

Ah, a mid ride. Nice choice. I use a G-code mid ride mount and love it.

I think for Safariland you're looking at something like this mount

This is my most recent purchase as well! Excellent shooter. Buy some .38 specials and it feels like you’re shooting a .22! As far as a holster goes.
I’ve been eyeballing this one

u/300ConfirmedShaves · 2 pointsr/CCW

This one from Amazon. It's kind of a pain to stretch and put on, cuz I am definitely at the uppermost end of the wearability spectrum, but I just put my Shield in there and velcro it together and then step into it and pull it up like pants, works perfect.

u/not-a-person-people · 1 pointr/CCW

I had a friend throw this on a polymer 80 and he also used a kydex trigger guard on a lanyard just as extra security ... it's like a upgraded mexican style carry

Doesn't get more minimalist then this.

u/357Magnum · 23 pointsr/CCW

When you get a lesser-known model of gun, you're going to have way fewer holster choices. Revolvers especially, even the more popular models, have fewer holster choices as they are just less popular than automatics.

This guy claims that K-frame holsters work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=036NrWxCIVY

Even so, I think you'll have to stick to leather or some kind of soft material that is a bit malleable. Kydex is always going to be molded exactly to a specific gun, so small variations will cause it not to fit. Leather, on the other hand, is a little more forgiving.

It also seems like some people are making leather holsters for that gun:

I carry a Shield as my EDC, I use a Crossbreed MiniTuck. It works really well for when you are wearing pants like jeans, or anything else with a belt.

However, if you are in sweats and a light jacket, I highly recommend the Desantis Nemisis pocket holster.

I use a Don't Tread On Me holster I got off of Amazon for summer carry.

Have a TCP (used to carry an LCP), and the thing is unbeatable. It comes with two interchangeable clips of different depth so that you can tuck the holster or not.

You can also easily remove the clip and pocket carry it.

It's held up for me for the last 3 years, and I couldn't be happier with it. $20 well spent, and it's better than any desantis or remora holster I've owned.

u/SilverOakLeaf · 2 pointsr/CCW

I pocket carry my G26 regularly, although I never use the cargo pocket. Of course, I always keep it in my DeSantis http://amzn.com/B0020HN0TY (which fits J frames too). Pocket carry works great when needing to transition my carry - esp when am traveling. Holster carry is not the best for longer trips compared to vehicle console carry. Going between console and pocket in my DeSantis is alot easier/safer than IWB or OWB.

Wrangler, Kirra, Hurley, Canyon River Blues Blues shorts all work for me. The key is pockets that have wider openings and deeper bottoms.

Another benefit of pocket carry, you can be at the "grip" stage of presentation while still maintaining concealment.

u/Ferrard · 2 pointsr/airsoft

You're quite welcome! The two brands of holsters I recommended:

  • Blackhawk! SERPA, Size 24 - P99 only, they don't seem to make one specifically for the PPQ, though there's a non-zero chance it'll work anyways.

  • Safariland 6378 - P99 and paddle-mag release PPQ - the button release model of PPQ apparently has some fitment issues.

You may be able to find better prices elsewhere - this is Amazon, after all! Bladetech makes good holsters too if you're into them.

There is a sizable contingent of pistol shooters who lobby very actively against SERPAs - you can decide for yourself how much weight you put behind what they say. I personally can see their concerns as grounded in reality, but I can also say that I've never even come close to accidentally discharging my GBBP P229 or AEP G18C even during the quickest of draws, and I'm nowhere near the best-trained pistoleer out there.

Finally, if you're a DIY-type, you can always get some Kydex and custom-form a holster for yourself!

u/muzbrake · 1 pointr/CCW

I found the one below is cheap, comfortable and super thin for 4 O'Clock carry.
Amazon Link
The Shield is a light thin gun that i can't see complicating with a hybrid holster or anything else too overly difficult to put on. This one comes on and off easily and is hidden under a T-shirt.

u/slalomz · 2 pointsr/1911

Depends on what you're going to use the holster for.

I have a Galco Combat Master just for range use and it can also double as a conceal carry holster if I'm wearing a coat or sweatshirt, though it can poke out a little since it's OWB. I've been pretty happy with it.

This is specifically the one I use I was nervous that it just goes on with "tape" but it's some sort of futuristic alien space tape and it hasn't failed in almost 3 years (knock on wood) but I like this better than the original ClipDraw because you can put it as far down or up on the slide as you want and you don't have to do any drilling into the gun

I am assuming this is your first time carrying a pistol. I am not sure if your job has any requirements on what kind of holsters you are allowed to use. I have heard of some security companies requiring some kind of secondary retention system such as a leather strap, or a serpa lock system.
I do not have to carry professionaly, but in my world of concealed carry I use a Glock 21, holstered in a Raven concealment kydex, and I use an EDC belt with a cobra buckle.

Don't worry to much though, the more you carry, the more you figure out what works and what doesn't. Feel free to PM me if theres anything you need help with.

u/Daybis · 2 pointsr/CCW

I'm big guy that likes running. I have been using a Belly Band: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N4HAZ5F/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I can wear it at my waist, but I prefer to wear it above my belly with the firearm somewhere between my left arm and boob (10 o'clock). And use a cross draw. With it on my hip, I constantly feel like it's sliding down past my butt, no matter how tight I get it, so I wear it up higher. The only downside to this holster, in my opinion, is the retention strap. It takes a little practice to get use to. I think the belly band is also good for lounging around the house.

Edit: I carry a G26.

u/conipto · 1 pointr/CCW

What kind of biking are you doing? Road biking in spandex I've yet to find something better than the LCP in the jersey pocket (using this) but even that I still get sweat on mine. It's an inexpensive gun so I don't mind that much but it still bugs me a bit. If you're biking like a normal casual person on a hybrid or mountain bike though, there's always this as an option.

ok ok you got me the eyelets i did get elsewere, other things that are really nice to have. Dremel (with atachments for detail work) sand paper 120, 600, 1000 grits for detail around edges, if you want a shiny plastic look hit the edges with the buffing wheel on dremel with a bit of turtle wax, i like the satin finish 1000grit leaves better.

heat gun from harbor freight works way better than the toaster oven ever did for me, has Hi and Low and up to 1000 degree i think. just lay down your sheet and get it nice and hot with the gun on high (750 setting) and it will work just fine, scroll saw > ban saw > dremel for cutting it out, also the cheapest option while only a bit slower than ban saw is just scoring with exacto knife and breaking it with pliers, splits clean every time and with moderate pressure you only have to go over it once. the hardest part was getting the arbor press set up and working right but that was just a bit of error on my part and not watching what the hell was going on lol :)

That is a Blackhawk Omnivore sitting on a modified Safariland QLS 19 fork. They're mounted to a Safariland mid ride UBL and QLS 22 receiver plate.

The cheapest is the [$15 Blackhawk A.R.C.](BLACKHAWK Ambidextrous Appendix Reversible Carry Inside the Pants Holster fits Glock 43, Urban Gray https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XL1PHYO/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_obcrybSPNEW23) (you can find one for your gun). I ordered one, but I've been so happy with my cya and so busy that I didn't pick it up yet. it's a $15 holster so don't expect something wonderful.

Are you okay with carrying your pistol unloaded? Are you okay with carrying without anything protecting the trigger/trigger guard?

Do you think that hanging off your overalls/jacket is sufficient security while riding at 80 mph, or after a crash?

Do you realize that Clipdraw's instructions say:

> Do not carry with the pistol loaded. This is not a safe carrying method. To prevent unintentional discharge, only load the pistol once ready to shoot.

Previous discussion on r/guns and r/ccw, plus a bunch of reviews on the Cipdraw Universal.

No, because of lack of trigger protection (general case).
