I just use Amazon, something like this would probably be the best place to start, and if you still don't have enough squish you can get a topper as well. This will probably solve your issues on its own though.

u/nattweeter · 2 pointsr/CalPoly

Hey there! I'm a transfer student who will be living on-campus in one of the apartments in PCV. I've gotten a bunch of advice from friends and parents with students already at Cal Poly (who've been there since freshmen year and who've lived in the dorms or apartments). All of them suggested getting at least 2 sets of twin XL sheets, a comforter set or duvet w/ down comforter, a mattress topper, and a mattress pad. They also suggested getting a mattress pad that's geared toward keeping bed bugs at bay since they're supposedly common in many college campus dorms and apartments. Hopefully this helps :) I linked a few items and searches to make it easier to find stuff!

I found a good mattress store on amazon, maybe you can found one from it. People usually buy 8-inch or 10-inch mattress. This mattress i share you is a 10-Inch Gel-Infused memory foam mattress, or you can buy a 8-inch mattress like this, which is a innerspring mattress with soft foam layer fire barrier fabric. Hope you found what you want.

I got a 4" thick twin sized memory/latex foam mattress topper on Amazon for less than a hundred dollars a few years ago. I highly recommend something like that.

This isn't exactly the same one I had (it's discontinued supposedly) but it's pretty much identical)

You should read FAQ.

My website has alot of research and links about latex and DIY mattresses.

I went with the most expensive 3 inch topper on Amazon for this example. It might require some experimentation for the right feel. Latex feels very different than memory foam and I love it and the idea that latex will last for decades appeals to me. Ikea has latex mattress on display so you can test out the feel.

This is the best thing I ever bought for my bed. Everyone that stays say it's like sleeping on a cloud, and it means I didn't have to fork out for an expensive mattress: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Double-Memory-Foam-Mattress-Topper/dp/B00LTQ46UO/ref=sr_1_7?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1478161227&sr=1-7&keywords=memory+foam+mattress+topper

Pure Green 100% Natural Latex Mattress Topper - Medium Firmness - 3" Queen Size https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UYG8QWE/

u/throsterial · 1 pointr/Mattress

That's a hard price. The cheapest that I can find that is better than what you have is the allswell, which is 315 for a full.

For a good mattress topper, sleep on latex sells a 2 inch full size medium firmness topper for 159 dollars on amazon.

My wife and I bought a queen BedInaBox (PacBed Original 11” Gel Memory Foam mattress for ~$800) and a queen Casper mattress (for about the same cost) in 2014 and tried each for a month or so at a time for a few months.

Both run noticeably / uncomfortably hotter (a bad thing because you wake up with your back/side sweating) than a regular innerspring mattress, at least until you get used to it (and even then we still notice they're too hot for our liking). We eventually settled on preferring the slightly-firmer Casper (that we think sleeps a smidgen cooler than the BedInAbox, I think because it has an inch or two of latex on top (?) while our BedInABox (used in guest bedroom) is just 2-3 different layers of foam).

I think our next purchase would be to try the Purple mattress (if it's cooler than foam and still as supportive?), or go back to a firm innerspring mattress. (although both of these mattresses look feel like the day we bought them three years ago)

Casper sent us a free "MILLIARD 2-inch Gel Infused Memory Foam Mattress Topper + Ultra Soft Removable Bamboo Cover with Non-Slip Bottom Queen" (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AKFSKVG) when I called to "return" it (they don't actually take it back, they legally have to have you donate it locally and they refund your money, I think they were even going to send someone to pick it up) because it was initially too firm / hot for us. We ended up keeping it, I think just because we were sick of mattress shopping and the bed running hot at night was less of a shock to us.

I'd recommend a Casper over a BedInABox if it's between one of those two, but I'd stay away from a foam mattress if you don't sleep well when hot.

We also tried a few different foam mattress toppers to try to help with our initial dislike of the firmness but they all ran too hot (the 2-3" ones were hotter than the 1-2" ones).

We use LLBean Pima Percal sheets (like someone else mentioned in this thread), and while they were cooler than flannel sheets, the foam beds still sleep noticeably hotter than innerspring mattresses. (My wife and I aren't large or overweight, so I don't think that'd be the cause)

Am hoping to see some reviews of the Purple bed (does it run as hot as Casper / BedInABox? is it as firm?), or we'll likely go back to random innersprings.

u/smiteme · 7 pointsr/BurningMan

I've finally given up on air mattresses - and AM SO MUCH HAPPIER for it.

They will inevitably deflate (unless you get a crazy expensive one), they are usually hot to sleep on, and they are an all around pain in the ass.

We recently migrated to just making a bed with memory foam covered in sheets, with blankets and covers on top. It's incredibly comfortable (even just straight on the ground), and my tent sleep has never been better.

Something like THIS is good, although you can go up in cost/comfort if desired.

.... Did I mention I hate air mattresses?

u/gingerfied · 3 pointsr/AttachmentParenting

I tried flipping my pillow top but started having back problems from it. I did a lot of research and ended up buying this: Sleep Better 3-Inch Extra Firm Queen Mattress Topper https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002EQAYMM/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_ojvYub0WAHB3S. I put it on top of the pillow top and it makes the bed really firm. I normally am not a fan of a firm mattress but I find it really comfortable, and it's so firm that I don't have concerns about a baby sleeping on it. A bit pricey, but way cheaper than a new mattress.

u/wolvie604 · 4 pointsr/BurningMan

I think you're overthinking it. The memory foam will be comfortable and insulating enough on its own. We use a 3" foam folding mattress like this and never felt like we were on the ground or cold.

You can buy acoustic foam that's used in sound recording booths but it's fairly expensive. Egg crate-style bedding foam does not quite as good of a job at deadening noise, but is not very attractive. You can also get fiberglass insulation if you have just open walls in your garage. Ideally you may want both. If you decide to insulate with a surface foam treatment, it may be worth installing the foam at a 45-degree angle in the corners of the garage too, to minimize sound reflecting from the wall to the ceiling or from one wall to another and acting as a secondary resonator.

I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00D8L99TQ/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It really helped! Plus it's on a crazy good deal right now. I just bought a new bed about two years ago, so I didn't have a horrible mattress to begin with, but this still made a huge difference.

u/educo_ · 2 pointsr/teslamotors

Here’s the one I got but it doesn’t look like it’s in stock at the moment: https://www.amazon.com/Best-Price-Mattress-Trifold-Topper/dp/B077BLTB1K

Any trifold twin foam should work! I’d suggest 4” or less for thickness.
