After you replace the door with a metal security door, get a set of these with a 2x4

Got a 2 pair of door bar brackets from some small outfit. They are NOT the bitch shit most places push out of some machine. Dude uses thick steel and excellent welds. Each door bracket uses 8 lag bolts to adhere to King/Jack stud besides doors. I am a land lord and would only want my tenants to tell me first so I can make sure they install correctly. None have but I'd ask first.

PM for site because a ton of people get all hot and bothered when you link something. IDK something something spam...

Something like this, but with a latch that can only be opened from behind the wall:https://www.amazon.com/Drop-Open-Security-Brackets-Boards/dp/B00H1BRXYM#immersive-view_1505486994383

I just tried installing one of these last week. There just wasn't enough of a gap. I put the hinge protectors on, and the door had to be forced to close the last couple inches. With either the deadbolt or doorknob guard or the long frame plate installed, the door wouldn't even close. It's a metal door frame so I can't mortise anything. I took it all off and I just have to live with some extra-long screws.

And, it's not a great metal frame, and it's a pretty standard door. The metal frame probably helps some, but it's not heavy duty by any means.

So I'm going to just get a set of these and say FTW.

You could get this- two of them. you could have it installed in less than 4 minutes.

You can also install a door security bar. It's like an oversized deadbolt. Here's one example, but you can find a bunch of different types on Amazon. Here's one that's just a wall mount and you use your own 2x4.

The 2x4s would fit in an open or closed brackets, for easy removal when you want out - pics: https://www.amazon.com/Drop-Open-Security-Brackets-Boards/dp/B00H1BRXYM

Thanks for the discussion, I am going to read it now.
