Civ isn't a massive performance hog, so that price range should be reasonable. If you can bump up your price by $100 you get into the range for gtx 1050Ti graphics cards, which are going to be solid cards that last you a long time. You probably don't need a full 8GB of ram for Civ, it might help in the late game but it's realistically out of your budget anyway.

Several reasons why I don't recommend the FX504: it is on the list of "Low Quality TN Displays" on the right side of this subreddit, it does not have adequate cooling, and the GTX 1050 isn't the strongest graphics card you can get in this range. The laptop that improves on all of those aspects would be the Dell Inspiron 15 7567. I own it myself. It has:

First off, while your GPU is always the priority while gaming, black desert is fairly CPU and RAM intensive as well. Cheaping out on either of those will really hurt you, especially the CPU. I’d personally have 12-16GB of RAM.

If you’re looking for a laptop, I bought this on Black Friday. Runs the game well on medium settings, 40-60 FPS outside of cities. Could consider the Inspiron 7000 series instead. All the 7577 models and most of the 7567 models have a similar screen to the Nitro.

There is also a 1tb(no ssd) 1050(not ti) for 75$ less.

The problem I found after watching a ton of reviews with the Acer Nitro 5 was the heat buildup, which my laptop also had an issue with and it's very frustrating. The only "fix" I saw involved needing to undervolt the CPU and taking the whole thing apart and re applying better thermal paste, I'd really rather not NEED to do that after spending nearly a grand. The 7567 has a MUCH better setup with it's heat pipes and fans and the one with the SSD also has an easy to access port to add on an HDD later.

From the review I saw they were able to run W3 on Med at a fairly consistent 55-60 FPS.

Also it was by far the most sturdy build of all the 700-1000$ range laptops which is very important to me considering how my other one just kinda fell apart on me. The sound quality is also better than average from what I saw.

Picked up my Dell with an i5-7300hq and a 1050ti for 800 a couple years ago, you could probably find one used for 4-500 easy. I think its still around 750 on amazon.

I bought a Dell Inspiron 7567 for... ahem... school... a couple of weeks ago, and it runs this game fantastically. The screen is amazing and I can run FFXIV on pretty high graphics settings.

Is this the same just with a 1050 Ti for $40 more than the Costco link? Better, and worth it?

If you will be running CAD applications , I recommend you get a laptop with a powerful processor preferably a quad core i7 or i5, 8 GB RAM or more (16 GB is nice to have), a decent storage and of course, a dedicated graphics card even if it is a low end one, is needed.

Within your budget range, I would ensure I get a laptop with the GTX 1050 Ti graphics card which is really the best graphics card you will get in that region. This Dell Inspiron 15 7567 Laptop would do a decent job for you in both gaming and CAD for the money you have to spend. It has a powerful quad core i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, fast 256 GB SSD and a solid GTX 1050 ti graphics card. It also has a decent build quality and a good battery life.

Those games arent the most demanding and you should probably be fine with a gtx 1050 or 1050 ti, but you might want to look into a gtx 1060 laptop if you want to play at ultra 60fps on a modern aaa game

If portability & cost are your primary considerations, its a good one to get.

You really will want some type of HOTAS (you can get one for as little as $75. A whole other topic, though).

And you will definitely want TrackIR, too.

And don't forget to wait for the seasonal sales to buy whatever modules you settle upon, prices are almost always 50% off (except for the newest modules like Hornet).

You can have plenty of fun in the meantime with the totally free Su-25 and toothless TF-51.

I'd really recommend Flaming Cliffs as your first paid module - so many planes and so much variety for the cost of one full fidelity module.

Mirage would be my pick if you insist on full fidelity for your first module.

This is what I bought. I'm a computer science student and this does some serious heavy lifting for a great price. I've done photo/video editing with no sweat.

I'd use the rest of that budget for a good wireless mouse, a sleeve for the laptop, a good laptop bag, and (especially for document/law stuff) USB monitors for use with the laptop.

Gonna double down on this advice. I went about as low end as possible with my laptop for WMR, spent $600 at best buy with an open box of this laptop but without the SSD option. It's powerful enough for WMR Ultra, but just barely. It's good enough for most VR experiences but I highly doubt it will run any big VR titles like fallout or skyrim.

Once you get some time with the headset you will likely want to do more with it, definitely suggest saving until you can afford a good computer for it so you can get the most out of the experience as possible.

Upgradable to 16gb of ram and it should have to for a 2nd 2.5" drive. So, decent processor, 256 SSD, 1050ti, etc. Also, it's not super gaudy like some gaming notebooks.

Also, you can choose a model for $800 that has extra 1tb HDD.

If you're willing to spend your max budget, then the acer predator helios 300 has amazing specs (6-Core i7-8750H, GeForce GTX 1060 6GB DDR5 16GB DDR4, 256GB NVMe SSD) for the price. A laptop like this normally costs around $1200-300. If you don't want to spend as much, the Dell Inspiron 15 7567 (Core i5-7300HQ, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, GTX 1050Ti) is a good deal and should be able to handle most games. The fans on the helios 300 are a bit loud.

So should I get the 2017 model? I saw this Inspiron 15 7567 for $766. I hear it runs much cooler but the latest BIOS has the GPU temp threshold set at 74c which makes it almost impossible for it not to throttle while gaming.

I have 4 laptop recommendations, a Dell Inspiron 7567 or a 7577. Though the 7577 has a better GPU, but both have an older 7th Gen CPU and Nvidia is releasing their next generation soon so be aware that in a few months they will be replaced with 8th gen versions and Volta GPUs. You can also get an Acer swift 5 with an mx150 which already has an 8th gen CPU and I don't think Nvidia is going to upgrade the GPU yet. Or you can get an HP x360 cause it's pretty much exactly like the Acer swift 5 in performance but it's a convertible, and it will have a longer lifespan cause it's newer.

I bought a Dell Inspiron 7567 Gaming Laptop last year. It has an i5 Processor, 8GB RAMM, 256GB SSHDD, 1050ti NVidia GeForce GFX card, 60hz IPS 15.6" display and it runs Destiny 2 great. Since it is a laptop, the fans tend to get loud but that's a non-issue when wearing a headset.

I mostly play on an Xbox One X, but now I have a way to play via cross save on my laptop- when I'm at work on breaks.

This laptop meets all of your requirements, and I have never had any sort of lag gaming with it except for with emulators (even in games like dark souls, overwatch, etc.). I have heard that it has amazing specs for the price. When I bought it I did a lot of searching, and it really is great. It’s also not so long that it has trouble fitting in a backpack.
