It's a small thing but it made me happy.
I replaced all the doorknobs in the house with matching Kwikset Antique brass finished knobs.
When I moved in the house had all different knobs and most of them have paint on them and it just bothered me. Especially when I could see more than one style/color of knob in the same room.
I also upgraded my shower head with one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LV7W4K/ref=pe_1098610_137716200_cm_rv_eml_rv0_dp which feels super good.
I want to replace my ceiling fans next and fix up my cabinets.
I own this Delta showerhead and love it to death. It saves on my water bill while simultaneously giving me a more powerful rinse than I had before AND delivering hot water sooner and more consistently than the others I've tried.
Edit: No seriously, there's some actual science in this $25 showerhead. Check it out.
I own a "water amplifying" showerhead that does this. Delta 75152. Makes the water jets feel more intense by rapidly jittering them around. It's pretty effective!
If someone needs extra motivation to take a shower regularly, I can recommend a shower head that really improved my experience of showering. It's meant for showers with low water pressure, and it makes some very powerful jets that shoot the water out at a pretty high speed, but in a fairly broad spread, in small drops instead of in streams. It feels great. Just let the water get warm before you get in- the spread-out jets bring a lot of air with them, and if the water's not fully warm yet, it'll be extra cold, as it brings its own breeze.

So long as that's a standard faucet size (and I can't imagine why it wouldn't be, even though it all looks a bit odd because it's unfinished), swapping a showerhead is about the simplest diy in the world.
This showerhead is dirt cheap and gets great reviews: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LV7W4K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Hoe8ybFX6DG57
We have one and it's great for the price.
You'll need a pair of pliers and some thread sealing (plumber's) tape. But pretty sure the Delta comes with some.
Easy peazy.

Is what I have, pretty good jet that comes out.
Not sure about the water pressure being due to aleak or not. If those shower heads ddon't work out for you (though you said you've used them before and were happy), you could try the one I linked just below. I used it in an apartment I couldn't make any changes to that had lower pressure, and it worked great without being overly harsh (then girlfriend, now wife didn't like the kind you linked when I tried it first):

The Sweet Home has a great comparison article on shower heads. I don't know if they really qualify as BIFL, but I bought the $23 Delta 75152 faucet based on their secondary recommendation and love it. I figured I'd use the high flow 2.5 L/min mode all the time, but honestly the 1.8 L/min mode is perfect. The 2.5 L/min actually feels like an absurd amount of water.

I also shave in the shower but I use a shower head for low pressure. It saves on water, thus saving on hot water. I can take 30 minutes showers and never run out! Thought you might want to try it or something similar
Amazon Shower Head
Just did a little digging through my amazon purchases.... here's the one I got:

I ended up installing the same one in my moms house as well, love it
This is the greatest head of all time for making a strong, high pressure experience when you have mediocre water pressure. I have replaced all of my heads with this head and the difference is night and day. Delta Faucet 2-Spray Shower Head, Chrome 75152 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LV7W4K/

This one is my jam.
For less than $20, you can hugely improve your life: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LV7W4K. It's pretty astonishing what a good shower head can do.

Get this bad boy, seriously this thing is no joke. It amplifies the water pressure by a significant amount. It sprays a large wall of water out at a much higher pressure but doesn't actually use more water. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000LV7W4K/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1426726361&sr=8-1&keywords=delta+high+pressure+shower+head&dpPl=1&dpID=41PwFhf4MzL&ref=plSrch&pi=AC_SY200_QL40
I have that same extender, but I have 2 of them hooked together and it works great. I reccomend pairing with showerhead: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LV7W4K/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Had the same problem, bought this shower head and it changed my life.

I bought this and I love it. Almost 2 years and I haven't had an issue.
