I'd say light-coloured curtains or drapes for the side to establish that cinema/ theatre illusion. Dark window tint for the two small windows so you don't blind yourself when you want to watch TV in the morning and since you have speakers there, you don't want to draw blinds and knock things over.
Also, definitely invest in wire-management material. Drill some holes in your bookshelves, shove all the wires in a wire tube and stick it in the corner. The rest of your house is neat, the wires have to obey the law too. Something along the line of these:

Maybe you can get something like this so you don't constantly have to unplug and plug it back in. It also keeps the cable hidden from view.

Rubber things seen in office buildings. If your carpet was easy to pull up though - actually that seems like a horrible idea, never mind. Yeah what I used before I moved was one of these http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Shield-Cord-Cover-Length/dp/B0030W6TGE/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1451960603&sr=8-8&keywords=cord+concealer
You know what you should do OP is get some velcro and take the cord from your router, wrap it down tightly all the way to the floor then get yourself some of these and run them along the base board and out of your way. I did the same thing, never regretted it. Also makes it easier for sweeping, mopping or even troubleshooting later on.
Some variant of cable molding can help especially if you don't want to endeavor into hiding cables in the wall space (Power has to be done properly to comply with code, something that I frustratingly discovered this last year).

Congrats, that's a mighty fine budget system. What are your impressions of the Ascends? Been looking at some used Sierra 2s myself, maybe the Luna. The 340s are supposed to be a fantastic value new, so you got yourself a deal.

BTW, these make great cable covers for floor runs:
