Looks like racing cockpit is also on sale: https://www.amazon.com/Openwheeler-Cockpit-Logitech-Thrustmaster-controllers-included/dp/B00ORLVWNM/ref=pd_sim_147_2?_encoding=UTF8&refRID=MRK851SX1XFRFHSKW0TF&th=1
I've been mulling over different racing seats, and I really want to mount my buttkicker to whichever one I get. How well does the buttkicker work with this seat, and how did you mount it? The other seat I was looking into was http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ORLVWNM?colid=219K1OWCRN1P3&coliid=I1LC44VCG7LMVG&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl
Still allowing the referral link spam I see.
Here is a better link which will donate a portion of the sale proceeds to charity instead of promote this kind of spam.

I use one of these, is great for either pc or console racing however it is low to the ground so if you have a relatively high tv to look up at you should get a stand to elevate the cockpit, or what I did was get a stand alone monitor stand that puts the screen much closer and at the perfect height.

It being low to the ground does make it feel very F1-y :)
That is the Openwheeler, mine is Gen 1. They have Gen 2 now, if you want Hotas mounts like mine you just have to email them. They didn't charge me for them.
The folks at /r/simracing can probably give you the best advice on the most realistic wheel - be sure to post your budget.
One thing to also think about is getting something like a play seat. I have this one, for example. What is nice, is that it allows you to adjust the wheel position, pedals, and seat position such that what you see in the game lines up with how things are laid out in real life. This greatly enhances the immersion.
I wanted to let you know I purchased the Wheel / Shifter / Also got a chair thanks for the links man! :)

Now to talk about the Race Cockpit.
OpenWheeler GEN2 is a really good one and is supported on almost if not any Race Wheel (Including Fanatec). However if you use a Fanatec dont use a Direct Drive Wheel on this cockpit (I doubt you would get one this early into Sim Racing however for future reference) This one goes for around 300-400 or so USD. Was not able to find a good review on this one. (Its a good cockpit though but is also a little more wobbly than the one below)
Next Level Racing F1 & GT Style Cockpit is one I personally use and love. It is the same as the other and supports all wheels (Almost) and is adjustable for roughly 499 USD. (And is F1 & GT style meaning it can switch between the two) Review
This is also like the wheel purely based on personal preference due to you being able to go out and make a more sturdy cockpit (That supports Direct Drive Wheels) for roughly 200-400 USD (Including a seat) however you would have to DIY it and not everyone is comfortable doing so.
so you'd suggest the below configuration over the Logitech one? Is there a reason I should stay away from Logitech?
Wheel
shift
seat
I have an OpenWheeler, I love it

I have a thrustmaster T500RS and a th8a shifter mounted on it. The only downside was there wan not enough friction between the angle adjustable plate that holds the steering wheel, and the length adjustable shaft. I epoxy-glued that thing permanently into place. But it does take a lot of space.
It does take a lot of space, but looks great so you don't have to hide it.
I'll add this here, but for 400 you can grab this Openwheeler one. The thing weighs a TON and has locking wheels so it doesn't slide. Comes with all the bolts and what not. I've raced for 6 hours one day doing formula races and never felt uncomfortable. The middle bar is there but I never touch it or have a problem with it.
Has anyone built a multi-functional sitting setup? I'm thinking about doing a HOTAS, driving, piloting, and keyboard/mouse/monitor combo with bass shakers. Big up-front investment, but with some kind of rotating or swappable interface, you could play any sim game or non-VR game you want. Parts list would basically be:
Control system parts:
I tried Steam Desktop Theater (or whatever it's called), but it's too pixely for me for non-VR games, so having a monitor there would be pretty cool. As far as the chassis goes, OpenWheeler has a cool one on Amazon:

Fairly pricey (although far cheaper than most other setups I've looked at...and no fabrication required), but the steering wheel plate looks removable (same mechanism as an exercise bike), so it might be possible to buy a few spares & rig up one for flying, HOTAS, and KVM. There's also a neat motion platform available, although it's triple the price:
http://www.nextlevelracing.com/products/next-level-racing-motion-platform-v2/
For bass shakers, I used to have a few Aura's, but Dayton has some similar-looking models out now:

That would make for a pretty awesome universal seated rig for VR & traditional-screen gaming. Although for the price, maybe I should be looking at a DIY X-Simulator rig, haha. Part of my problem tho is that I'm not so much into detailed, realistic simulation games (aside from a flying game or two) as much as just fun games that you can jump into that just happen to use different controls like steering wheels or sticks for input. I've only done a bit of poking around in this area so far, but it seems super easy to spend a looooooooot of money on one of these setups. I'm gonna need a second job to support my VR hobby lol.
