I personally am a fan of the Hue's simply because I have had friends install some of the cheap ones and they are just junk in the long run. Plus the Hue app is way better than almost all of the competition out there. The Hue lights are still on sale from black friday at Amazon and Best buy.

It’s a strip light that plugs into an outlet and sticks to the back of your TV. If you have a harmony hub you can set it up so it turns on to a certain color when you start an activity. You can also control it just like other hue lights. They are expensive

I tried out a few different kits, but right now I like the Philips Hue lightstrip the most because it turns on and off automatically with Harmony, and it has the most white/color options.

For my 75" TV, I needed the original starter kit plus 3 extensions. Pretty expensive but I got everything for 50% retail.

I arranged them about 2 inches in from the edge of the tv all around the backside of the TV. They are secured using command strips hooks.

Makes a huge difference in perceived picture quality. Contrast does indeed look significantly better and I no longer notice inconsistencies in backlighting during dark scenes.

the only ones i know of are the philips hue ones but i think they may only go 30ft on a stretch which means 5 heads a ton of extentions. it wont be cheap

Fake office plants and ferns plus the marble lugia909 mentioned. Get some of those amazon hue strip lights and in the companion app set the colors to change between blue and pink.

It's 35% off what I see in Home Depot and similar stores. Is this similar to what you could use?

This particular one does use a setup that would need an outlet, but I've seen some DIY setups that create a hard-wired solution. I don't know the complexity of it though, unfortunately. Also, when you say it doesn't have a convenient connection to one another, how inconvenient is it? Could a small drill solve this issue or is there actually open space between each location? Or maybe it's metal or glass?
