It depends on how "far out" you want to get - but some of my non-baby-item must haves for baby include a:

  • stick vaccuum - this comes in handy the minute kiddo becomes mobile. I use mine at least 2x daily

  • chux pads - pre labor, after labor, during diaper changes, in your car, in public. I use these everywhere

  • pop socket for your phone - because dropping your phone on a sleeping newborn infant's head while trying to snap a picture is sad. Ask me how I know

  • wet bags - I use these to organize my diaper bag, store snacks, wet clothes, everything

  • collapsible storage bins - I have these all over filled with toys. It's nice because my son can lean into them to collapse them so he can reach toys at the bottom, as opposed to hard toy boxes where they either cry for you or fall in trying to reach

  • immersion blender - you can turn anything into puree without having to buy a baby specific product, and it'll serve you post-baby as well

Might be weird to put these things on a registry though :'D

Get one of these things for your phone: PopSockets: Expanding Stand and Grip for Smartphones and Tablets - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UY1YTGG/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_wl1NzbSVVXXC6

I have one of these, and it's far from stupid. Besides making easier to hold in landscape, it just makes it easier to hold in general, especially with one hand, and is great to fidget with during boring work meetings.

I vote for the Sony phones (love my Xperia XZ Premium). But, have you looked into these things so you can at least grip your current phone better (and not hurt your pinky)?

I haven't opened mine because I don't want one on my phone but I think they are PopSockets

My thoughts?

s8+ has better battery life overall, bigger screen, and since you were a iPhone 7 user, its not going to be that much of a difference really. But I would spend a little time at one of the stores comparing the feel in your hands.

I found one-handed operation to be about the same with the s8+ than the s8 and a lot easier than my iphone 6 , and I'm a male with medium-sized hands.

My wife has tiny hands, but handles the s8+ in a otterbox defender really well.

one thing I found that helps us is a Popsocket. not shilling, just like that they work really well, have car mounts for them, and you can use your thumb in combination with your index finger, and they work as a stand and will stick to just about any case you get.

You can use the use the biometric sensor on the back of the phone to open the notification/function menu by swiping down after unlocking the phone, answering calls you can set the phone to answer by either touching the icon or by swiping.

So as a former Apple user, what do I like? Just about everything. Camera is nice, being in control of what I can put on the device and where I can store things is nice. Lots more options as a developer and IT guy.

What do I miss?

I miss Siri, but Google Assistant works fine. Bixby was kinda a big hit and miss, so I disabled it and mapped the bixby button to google assistant instead. Works better now, for me at least.

I miss icloud management, but got over it and used an alt. Apple Music is available if you use itunes, so I still use that and it works fine.

Wife is a diehard Apple user, was super excited for the 8/X and I convinced her to ditch her 6 (since she didn't want to lose the headphone jack with the 7) and her iWatch, and get an s8+ and a Gear 2 instead.

She watched the unveiling and was like "Meh, so they made the facial recognition better, got rid of the home button but have his ugly bar on the screen and have face-tracking talking emoji's. shrug"

Welcome to the dark side.
Still both love our iPad pro's though. I like using mine as a Portable wacom tablet.

For larger phones I can't recommend getting one of these enough

u/Xab · 2 pointsr/BMW

Pop socket for your phone: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UY1YTGG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_5TAoybRNE7J2X

And a Pop Clip for your dash: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015RW1P4K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_FUAoybVB2VWFW

Check out all the extra stuff the Pop Socket can do too. Really useful.

To explain it a little more, it's not a case or anything, it's a adhesive that you can put on the back of the phone or phone case.

You could get a pop socket and print this clip and stick it to the dash with 3m tape ..that's what I do in my truck and it works great!

PopSockets on Amazon

Pop Socket (Pop Clip) found on #Thingiverse https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2560011

I don't own an e-reader but recently I have been researching as I intend to buy one soon.

I've seen people recommend PopSockets as a good way to hold such devices.

Here is a link to one over at the USA Amazon website:

If you're having trouble, I recommend one of these:

I use it on my tablet and it makes holding it much more comfortable.

a Popsocket, like this one

u/laudbrian · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

My pop socket was a sad white elephant gift sitting in one of my drawers so it was nice to put it to use. You can find them on amz or any Walgreens or CVS probably. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UY1YTGG

No tools required for the adapters, the set comes with a top buckle clip. You're all set for easy hook up if you have your vive das ready as they snap into the arms.

u/username235 · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

It's really ugly, but you can get a Pop Socket. About $8 on Amazon, and it makes one handed use unbelievably easy on any sized phone. There's also a car mount that they make for the pop sockets, which combined with Android Auto, provides a super nice car system.

Here's the one I have, just a simple black one

I just want to suggest PopSockets if you haven't heard of them. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UY1YTGG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Ip1JybFS7B0P9 it's a little combo of a stand + holder. Works on any phone and makes holding your phone soooo much easier. Not affiliated in any way, just passing on a product I really like!

u/sircrotch1 · -7 pointsr/Android

I use no case, I never drop my phone.

I don't get how people can drop 500 bucks on something and drop it.

I also have a pop socket on the back of it and it's awesome.
