I would like to get one of these carrying bags for my Switch because I have a lot of accessories for the Switch and more coming but I'm not sure which one is better. I would like to go with this one ($57.18 CAN) since it is cheaper than this one ($69.99 CAN) but I'm not sure if I would be giving up anything essential. Can anyone with either one of these weigh in with their opinion? Just for reference I'll be carrying the following in the bag:

  • 1 Switch tablet
  • 4 Joy Cons
  • 1 Pro Controller
  • 1 Dock
  • 1 HDMI Cable
  • 1 AC adapter
  • 1 Pokeball Plus
  • 1 Switch Gamecube Controller adapter
  • 1 Joy Con Grip
  • 2 Gamecube Controllers

Thanks to anyone that can help!

This is my set up:

Tomtoc case-
The tomtoc case is slim, minimalistic and high quality. Holds like 10 games and the Switch itself with room for a grip.
https://www.amazon.com/tomtoc-Original-Nintendo-Console-Carrying-Protection/dp/B07PNGWMZL?th=1&psc=1

Kingtop Grip-
By far the best and most versataille grip for the Switch. First off it's dockable. Second, allows removal of the Joycons without having to remove the entire case. There's a similar case by Ugreen however that case covers the buttons in the back used to remove the Joycons making it more difficult. Third, access to the kickstand making it tabletop friendly. The skull & co case for example is great however doesn't allow access to the kickstand and you need to remove the entire case to take the Joycons out. Lastly, holds 4 extra game cartridges in the rubber grips. With the tomtoc case you can hold about 14 games altogether.

Skull & Co joystick thumb grips-
Never liked the feel of the Joycon analog stick. It felt mechanical or something. These thumb grips add a little bit of meat to the joysticks making it a lot more comfortable to play in handheld mode. Lastly one of the thumb grips are concave which is a lot more comfortable, in contrast to the convex ones on the joystick.

In the US, TSA requires all electronics "bigger than a cell phone" to be removed from the bag and put into its own bin to be scanned. I've been successful at avoiding this by keeping the joycons separated from the Switch. So my Switch is in its case in one pocket of the bag, somewhere else in the bag are my joy cons. Saves me a bit of time and hassle at security.

Other than that, I carry a USB-A to USB-C cable. Most flights I take anymore have a USB port under the seat and I'll connect straight to that. I use my iPhone's power brick when I need to connect to a wall outlet. In the hotel room I usually charge my switch during the day while I'm out then charge my phone at night so getting by with just the one brick is fine for me. I have a Jumpgate that I carry now as well. It works well as a little stand while on the plane, and in theory if I carry an HDMI cable as well I can hook it to the hotel's TV. I haven't done that yet, primarily because I don't want to carry another cable when I fly, but I have done a road trip back home where I used the Jumpgate to connect to my parents' TV.

EDIT: My case is from ButterFox and I got it on Amazon. In my order history the link to the exact one I have is no longer working, but it looks just like this one. The case is fine I like it and I'd recommend it. My only thing with it is that I have been debating getting something larger. I like the idea of being able to keep my jumpgate and pro controller all in the same handy case, but I'm not sure if I'd like the reality of how large that case would have to be.

u/whittlinwood · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I had the plain black version of the second case. It works well, but I would recommend another. The middle flap doesn't hold as much as you would like. The Velcro eventually wore out, and it doesn't have a double zipper.

I love the Butterfox case. I also got it for a friend. It holds a ton of games. Has a zippable storage spot for joycon, headphones, straps, etc. It also has a stand feature which is nice. The outside is hardened fabric and feels protective. It's also very inexpensive.

My #1 tip for a new Switch owner would be to invest in a screen protector and a good carrying case. They don't have to be expensive to be good, and there are a bunch of different options so you can choose the style, color, etc. that fits with how you'll use your Switch. Here are the links to the screen protector and case I use—I would highly recommend both:

amFilm Tempered Glass Screen Protector

My #2 tip for you specifically would be to always keep your eyes open for games you can play with your girlfriend. My wife and I have played and enjoyed all the following games on Switch (and there are many more):

  • Snipperclips
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Death Squared
  • Overcooked (and Overcooked 2)
  • The Adventure Pals
  • Picross S

Welcome to the Switch family, and enjoy!
u/NikolaiStoilov · 4 pointsr/SwitchLite

I don't have a Lite but I'll try to answer:
> Can these act as controllers to a regular Switch?

No
> If not, are they at least capable of local co-op?

Yes
> Are there streaming services available? Netflix? Disney+?

Hulu and Youtube
>If not, are there plans for more/others? Netflix? Disney+?

Nothing officially announced.
> Specifically is "Movies Anywhere" a downloadable app?

I don't think so
>Anyone ever tried connecting wireless headphones?

You can with a Bluetooth adapter, not directly.
> Are there educational game options?

Yes, examples: Human resource machine, scribblenauts, Dr Kawashima's Brain Training
> Parental controls?

Yes, with a separate mobile app.

> Any advise regarding quality?

It's possible the lite inherits the joycon drift issues from the original Switch, nothing confirmed yet.

> Any advice on accessories?

The original case has an included screen protector I think, use both.

link.

There is also a flipcase you can look at.

u/HausmanPrime · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Agreed great case, but pricey, here is an alternative. I just purchased this Friday and have really enjoyed it so far.
There is a caveat that only the the smaller grips will fit in the case compartment

How many of you are using a grip on your switch? Any recommendations and is it mandatory?

Also, I just bought this ultra slim protective case from Tomtoc, on a lightning deal for $16.99, and I really do like it and how slim it is. But I also saw that Tomtoc had this case that came with a free grip for the same if not lesser price than the ultra slim. What do you guys think. I’ve only had my switch for about a week and probably gonna play 60-70% in console mode and the rest handheld. What’s nice about the ultra slim is that it fits in a couple of my shoulder bags when I take on the go.

u/Catman2033 · 8 pointsr/LuigisMansion

The game supports single joycon multiplayer for both story and scare scraper mode. I recommend getting another set of joycons for their friends and family so 4 people could play at once. It's a $20 increase from the pro controller but it was worth it in my experience. Here's a very nice case I can use to carry EVERYTHING:https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07F8N9C9Q?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

u/haiironiji · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

This is the smallest one I was able to easily find. It holds 6. (To be honest it still seems as though it would be too big for what you are describing)

Something like the waterfield holder might fit the bill, since its flat (holds 10 cards)

u/0ldBay · 1 pointr/nintendoswitchlite

That’s what I was thinking. I had to get a carrying case for the time being, so I went with this one from Best Buy. It’s a very snug fit so I’ll have to find a little bit roomier of a carrying case because I also want to use a slim case for the lite like you have.

u/CactusBoyScout · 7 pointsr/NintendoSwitchDeals

I ended up buying this one that's shaped like a giant Switch game! It holds 30 games and doesn't put the game cards in little slots that you have to pull them out of to identify.

Pretty happy with it.

u/WillTay95 · 2 pointsr/gamecollecting

I currently use a combination of the following:

Case: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XRV344R/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_7JjUCbZPNHNGA

2x HORI Switch Game Card Case https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01NASY99Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_kLjUCbHYH2M87

Both Hori cases fit perfectly in the top of the switch case and allow for 67 games to be carried at any one time (plus one additional in the console itself)

u/ganondorf-on-golf · 0 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I really like the Hori Slim Pouch: https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Slim-Pouch-Officially-Licensed-Nintendo/dp/B01ACVA4AM

I had a bulkier case and never used it, and ended up wrapping my Switch in a t-shirt instead. The Slim Pouch is super thin and lightweight, and provides just enough padding to protect the system.

u/nermal543 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I have this official case and it's pretty slim. It has a nice stand that can prop the Switch up and slots for about 5 games. I imported mine from Amazon JP and it cost about $30 all in to have it shipped to US. I would link you somewhere in the US for the basic black version of the case, but I don't think they sell it here anymore than I can find. Amazon JP also has the Mario Red version in stock if you aren't a fan of Splatoon.

u/leenponyd42 · 4 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

When you say soft case, do you mean just a little cloth pouch? Soft cases like those can be a real problem if your children tend to drop things, like most children do.

The Switch is a pretty heavy unit itself. Often Soft cases don't offer enough cushion to absorb even a two foot fall. It is a portable system so your kids will want to take it everywhere, especially at first.

I really recommend going with a hard shell case like this. The Switch is secured inside the case itself, and there are two Switch game cases that carry four game cards each.

Also, I love the Pro Controller so much that I even take it with me when I'm using the system away from the house. The JoyCons probably do just fine for smaller hands, but it's not comfortable for me, an adult with piano fingers.

u/sarcasmasquach · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Anyone have a Smatree Hard Protective Case? Looks pretty nifty and affordable. It's not as rugged as the Mumba but it does have access to both the stand and the joycons. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

u/DeadLeftovers · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I received the TomToc Storage Case today and it’s great. I’m able to store my Switch, Joycon Grip, Power cable as well as the Nintendo Switch dock with it in the
Basstop Portable Dock Shell

You won’t be able to store an HDMI cable but that shouldn’t be an issue considering most people have a spare HDMI cable or a device that is already using one.

If you want to store a Switch Pro Controller the Butterfox Extra Large Case night be a better option however it won’t work as a stand.

u/gerry0924 · 1 pointr/SwitchHacks

I do recommend the official switch sd card holder sold in a kit like this one "https://www.amazon.com/NINTENDO-ORIGINAL-MULTI-GAME-not-machine-specific/dp/B0756YZ7G1/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1536169642&sr=8-13&keywords=RDS+Industries%2C+Inc" I own this case and It includes four micro sd card holder shaped like a cartridge that holds two micro sd card each. I am sure you can find them used individually if you have a case if not I would recommend the kit

u/Better200YearFromNow · 0 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Can you fit the Switch with a plastic protector shell on into the Hori stand? I've gotten some helpful answers here about using the shell with the Amfilm protector and fitting it into cases but I wanted to confirm this compatibility too. Thanks!

u/MrJspeed · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

You're absolutely right. That's probably the best case to get if you have a lot of carts, I just didn't like the thickness. Even though it really isn't very thick for what it is.

The one that inspired me to do the project was this one. It is just too big and thick for what it carries.

u/ray12370 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitchDeals

Design is cool, case itself is durable, but the pouch barely holds anything in it, and the velcro design is garbage that eventually stops sticking after a couple months.

The design on the front is plastic, and will wear off after a couple months as well. I'd recommend [this] (https://www.amazon.com/ButterFox-Carrying-Compatible-Nintendo-holders/dp/B075YCWQSF/ref=sr_1_6?crid=1BMZPMWMV99IH&keywords=butterfox+nintendo+switch+case&qid=1562207675&s=gateway&sprefix=buttterfox+%2Caps%2C202&sr=8-6) one or literally any other one on Amazon.

u/fatnerdyjesus · 2 pointsr/Switch

I got this one and like it. It also fits (without removing) in my travel case perfectly.

u/ORTOX · 3 pointsr/Switch

This is the one I got.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SV1PW6N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I love it. Since it's a single piece that covers the tablet and Joy-Cons, it makes the whole kit feel much sturdier when playing in handheld mode.

The Switch is still dockable with the case on it.

u/Droid1xy · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

The elite player backpacks are great which are licensed by Nintendo, I got the original one with shit loads of pockets for dock, joycon etc.

I’m probably gonna get the new one soon because it has a sleeve for my MacBook, and looks less like a “let’s mug that guy” kinda bag!

Amazon US has a bunch of Splatoon cases on prime.

The first party Game Traveler Deluxe Travel Case is $20. I have the blue Link one and it's great.

HORI has the splat pack with a soft case for $20 ($30 for the upcoming deluxe version with joycon holder) and their $20 Hard Pouch.

Is there another one I'm missing?

u/thecoachfridge · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I have a Butterfox ($8) case that I love and they also have a larger one ($13) on amazon. They both hold 19 games which is pretty sweet. Not sure if you could find a card case that fits for ~$5 but I would go for the convenience of one of these cases.

u/jachorus · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Does anyone know any carry case compatible with the Mumba protective case?

Tried two different ones but since the case makes the Switch volume bigger and carry cases tend to adjust to the shape of the Switch it doesn't fit well.

(In case someone didn't understand, by "carry case" I mean something like this)

(Already asked this a week ago but I only got one reply and I would like to get more options)

u/TemptedTemplar · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Right now your options for "shock proof" are full body silicone or transparent hard plastic. Neither of which will fit in the official dock or Nyko's upcoming slim dock. But if you are super determined to make it work, there is a slim USB-C hub adapter coming eventually. Though it is likely just a repackaged Chinese adapter which you can already get for about $60.

u/NoDiceBRZ · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

If you're concerned about preserving the print but can't find the replacement back plate everyone is mentioning, try this

My Butterfox (compact, not L or XL) holds my switch, 4 joycons (straps attached or loose), and my google pixel charger/cable (i'm pretty sure you can get a switch charger in there too). I did remove one of the flaps for games since i'm all digital, now there's plenty of room in there.

u/impudentmortal · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitchDeals

If you were to buy all individual items from Gamestop, then the bundle makes sense. But the Splatoon case is $5 cheaper on Amazon so you'd lose a little bit of money with this bundle.

Of course, if you wanted all items included in the bundle, it would definitely be worth it since the Switch is still so difficult to find. I'm going to hold off though, because I don't care too much about the case or comfort grip.

Great review here from It Came From a Box on YT....

https://youtu.be/gaThZk5z9YA

u/BabaDopamine · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

This case that came with the Splatoon 2 bundle. I think it looks great and it's super slim but it'll only hold your Switch and a few games. I'll probably use it until I have to start carrying extra Joycons.

u/OckhamsFolly · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I'd personally stick with a basic case and get the Hori Compact Playstand. It would fit in the top pocket of my Butterfox with no problem, probably even with my 20100 mah battery and charge cord for the Switch (I could probably downsize on the cord a bit, it's the one that came with the pro controller).

If size was your absolute top concern, I might suggest a wallet case like his one. Won't be able to charge it while it's on the stand though, and I'd be worried about it in a tight backpack.

If an all-inclusive case/stand with charging capability is what you are after, your best bet probably is the Satisfye slim case AManCalledM recommended or something similar.

u/Maiiau · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I use the Smatree case. I like that you can remove the joycons with the case still on if you want, as well as access the kickstand/SD card.

You are getting too many stuff. Just get a small case something like this , a screen protector , an SD card and either a pro controller or additional joycons but not both. If you plan on playing 4 way local mutliplayer get joycons and if not get a pro controller. If you are going to travel with the whole set including the dock get a bigger case that is for carrying the whole setup and get an extra power adapter and hdmi cable instead so you dont bother with plugging them out. Total maybe $150 or so.

u/jesusofthemoon · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

what's the best case/grip combo these days? the skull&co is the only answer you ever really get with this question, but i'd like to avoid it due to how bulky it is.

has anyone used this one? i'm also trying to figure out how much i really need a grip, so idk.

u/Serafita · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitchDeals

This one on amazon UK is 7.5cm thickness, but I don't know how much of it is for the accessories part.

Like the two other posters at time of posting I have a hestia case myself, mainly for the unbranded look and velcro/fabric zippers/etc. :D

I think that as one other person said, you could get a Pelican case with pluck and pull foam to do this and that is most likely the only way you'll find a case to hold that many.

If you want to go the route of getting 4 switch specific cases, I'd recommend this one that I bought and it holds my switch (with joycons attached), the joycon controller with 2 additional joycons attached, the dock, cables, charger, game cards, and a pro controller.

Dust protector for the dock

Pro Controller

Optional dock sock if you're worried about scratching the screen protector

Optional Nintendo brand charger if you want a spare charger in the carrying case --- supposedly 3rd party systems can be very bad for your console so don't risk it.

Yea, that's the one I wanted but I think it's a soft case.

The listing for it on Amazon Japan shows the packaging (this link be crazy, it had Japanese in the URL).

And then on Amazon US, there's a plain Switch case with the same packaging, leading me to believe it's the same as the Splatoon one, just with no design. And reviews for this one definitely say it's a soft design that's meant more for scratches than any real protection.

But yea, this is the design I wanted, just on a hard case.
