I'm interested in purchasing and wall-mounting the Sonos Playbase for my living room; currently I own the PLAY:5 in my bedroom, so I will be expanding my Sonos ecosystem.

I have specific aesthetic reasons why I want to mount a 20lb device to drywall instead of installing a shelf.

Here's the sitch: I really like the idea of not having shelves. They collect dust, and I dont own any games or movies as physical media-- it's all digital.

My current living room setup: I'm running a projector, not a TV. I also have a PS4 and an Xbox One. I'd like to have all components on one wall, leaving the opposite wall clean to throw the image from the projector (which is why I want the Playbase, not the Playbar). This also relieves me from having to run cables across the room just for surround sound.

The Playbase only allows one optical input, so I will need a Toslink switch with at least two inputs. Including the Playbase and Projector, that's five devices, each with its own power supply. Visual impact is a high priority; the consoles will have vinyl covers that make them look like furniture (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XXXJ6ME/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ypewzb1FJ65PZ), in order to add to the clean visual aesthetic of the room; however, I still have the cable management issue to solve!

So, I'd want to wall mount each device (ceiling mount for the projector), and run the length of cables along the wall in a uniform fashion. The centerpiece would be the Playbase. I've been using photos like these for inspiration: https://imgur.com/gallery/O7yTT4R

I'm hoping to find someone to design a 3D printable wall mount for the playbase so it sits high behind me, with speakers pointing down toward the couch. (Though this requires something strong enough to mount a 20+ lbs device to drywall.) Any help would be appreciated. Of course, I'm ready to pay for labor and shipping, as I do not own a 3d printer. Im also just curious to see if this can be done. I've included a rough sketch of what it is I'm looking for: Sonos Playbase wall mount sketch https://imgur.com/gallery/Yd7aX

  • Riding the Kontrol Freeks suggestion…I would start with a pair of the CQCx pads. They're mid-rise, convex, and grippy, giving you a much wider + uniform surface compared to the PS4 pads. These will be much more forgiving than the PS4 pads when it comes to fine motor control.
    http://www.kontrolfreek.com/thumbsticks/fps-freek-cqcx.html
(EDIT: What I mean specifically is, because of the width and super grippy-ness, your thumb can be/can float almost anywhere on the pad, even at the edge, even with a tiny amount of force, and you will still maintain superb control!)

  • Definitely reduce your sensitivity. Drop down to 4 and play it for at least a week.

  • Lastly, you might want to look at SquidGrips. They are very grippy covers for the PS4 controller. You'll find you can relax your grip a bit using these, plus there's the added benefit of making the controller overall a bit larger in-hand.

Hopefully these and the other suggestions here help get you more comfortable in blasting faces off! :)

I haven't wanted skins, but I did pick up a new controller recently in an awesome color combo. This. I also recommend light bar decals/stickers like these. I've had my PS4 for a few years now and the decal I put on the default controller is still on it without issue. (I hated the light shining on my tv.)

Personally, I'd recommend replacement housing over a skin. Think there are also full housing kits that would give you different colored buttons. The controllers are pretty easy to take apart.

u/its_a_SEABEAR · 3 pointsr/PS4

I bought this kit off amazon that turned your controller into a “pro” controller, comes with a shell and 4 rear buttons that take some getting used but but are extremely nice to use once you do, and it was only 35 bucks. I absolutely love it. The one caveat is it’s cheap because you have to put it together yourself, but it’s very simple and doesn’t require soldering as long as you don’t want to remap the touch pad or l3/r3, which I don’t ever see a need for personally, so I didn’t.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RGNP4W3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Mh3MDbA9FTT6F

EDIT: I also have the strike pack and loved it, but I agree I wasn’t a fan of it having to be wired, plus occasionally it would somehow lose connection and the whole controller wouldn’t work until I unplugged it and plugged it back in, which is not ideal when you’re playing multiplayer lol

u/pbanj_ · 1 pointr/PS4

There is this one that is pretty much a drop in solution. Just solder up the internal buttons to the remap board. https://www.amazon.com/eXtremeRate-Programable-Controller-Redesigned-PlayStation-4/dp/B07Q2SJQX4

They have a website that has more stuff on it https://extremerate.com/

Then there is this one which is what I have https://arsenalmod.com/collections/ps4/products/arsenal-s4-slim-clip-board-install-kit-ps4-slim-programmable-remapping this one requires a bit of soldering but only to the remap board and not to the actual controller, you also have to drill the bottom shell. I've seen people order scuff paddles from eBay and use them with this one but I opted to just use the buttons as everyone I know that's bought a scuff controller has had the paddles break on them(among other issues).

The soldering on both these is very basic and is actually a pretty decent thing for someone's first project.

There is also these but you can't remap on the fly. It's more of an honorable mention lol. https://thecontrollerpeople.com/shop/tcp-classic-mod-kit

You can see if there is something like this for the Xbox One controller:

https://www.destructoid.com/review-playbudz-grip-extenders-487007.phtml

I bought it for a 6'6 friend of mine who plays on the PlayStation. What he did was he wrapped his DS4 with two layers of Silicone case (e.g. https://www.amazon.com/Controller-DualShock-Anti-Slip-Protector-playstation-4/dp/B06XQB6C6Q or https://www.amazon.com/YoRHa-Silicone-Dualshock-Controller-PlayStation-4/dp/B06XT116CK/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=ds4%2Bsilicone%2Bcase&qid=1571360580&sr=8-6&th=1) , then whack on one of these extenders and it became much more comfortable fit for him.

Warning though that your controller will look like Frankenstein lol.

u/SnizelOUT · 4 pointsr/PS4

Something in the style of this:

https://www.amazon.com/PS4-CONTROLLER-GRIPS-Playstation-Video-Games/dp/B07D9RXXLL/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=NUMSKULL+COVER&qid=1570375084&sr=8-1

It makes your controller way more grippy, more meaty and without the crippling feeling of the full covers.

I have this exact one and it's been great.

You can probably find cheaper ones in the same style, but these look great and feel great.

eXtremeRate Professional Textured Soft Rubber Handle Grips for Playstation 4 PS4 Slim/PS4 Pro Controller - Improve The Grip and Comfort https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MU7G3FZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_wxK1Bb48FKE52

Cheap and BEST solution to your problem. Just got to cut it to fit the impact since it's for orginal controller. The scuf military grip sucks don't get it!

u/Craigrofo · 2 pointsr/PS4

Tried using something like this?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/qvf/Pandaren-ULTRA-ARMOR-GEAR-cover-controller-black/B01M4KNT06/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1483964427&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=ps4+controller&psc=1
Seems like it would make the d-pad a bit easier to control, especially the addition with the ball shaped bit as think it would mean you could apply force rather than pressing down with one finger but you could use your whole hand/side of hand.

u/pheonix8905 · 1 pointr/techquestions

I’m sure someone sells the shell, but a white console skin would be much more worthwhile. Here’s one fitted for the PS4 Pro, and here’s one fitted for the PS4 Slim. Hope this helps.

u/RadCapper88 · 8 pointsr/apexlegends

Ill just leave it here so everyone can see in case other people are interested :) This is the UK amazon link, but if you search EXtremeRate on the US amazon (if you’re based in the US) you’ll find the same thing.

As I said it is DIY - but it really isn’t hard. There are plenty of tutorial videos on YouTube. I competed mine in like 30 mins.

I got one right when Apex came out. It does take sometime to get used to (muscle memory wise). But I can’t play without it now. Even in games that aren’t Apex.

u/Fuster_Duck · 1 pointr/PS4

Got my since December 25 2013 and now I know why I my console sounds like a Jet engine. Welp time for me to buy the set and [this.] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L3KU0S8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_2&smid=A9WZSUM5PXSDK)

Also are there any useful screwdriver bits I can find like the one you have?

I still have my release PS4 controllers, i don't know what you people do to them to beat the shit out of them so hard.

But here, you mean something like this?

https://www.amazon.ca/eXtremeRate%C2%AE-Replacement-Thumbstick-PlayStation-Controller-Mix/dp/B01N5ANR6K/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=ps4+stick&qid=1570046347&sr=8-4

u/attacklibrarian · 2 pointsr/PS4

I bought this skin last July with the console skin, and I haven't had any trouble. Yes, it was a little tedious to put on, but if I remember correctly, there's a link to a video showing you the best techniques.

EDIT: for clarity, I haven't had any trouble with durability , peeling, or anything for that matter. I did kind of mess up applying the part around the buttons, making the square button stick (misaligned), but that was my fault. I easily fixed it with an x acto knife.

u/Cax6ton · 2 pointsr/ApexConsole

I really like this kit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q2SJQX4/ref=twister_B07PYP956P?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Cost is low if you use your own controller, still not bad if you buy one just to mod.

For Apex, you don't need to remap L3/R3 or the touchpad, so you can install it with no soldering. You have to train yourself to hit the outside buttons with the meaty part of your finger, and hit the inside buttons with the end of your finger, but even after getting a paddle controller I think I still like this one. https://twitter.com/Cax6ton/status/1115446672597946369?s=09

If DIY isn't your thing, aimcontrollers.com is very affordable, completely customizable, but they take a long time to ship. I ordered in mid March and just got the controller this week. They're having a sale right now, you can get a custom controller for about $100-$120 depending on the options you pick. I ordered the wrong height sticks, so I'm waiting until my next stick order comes in before playing with it more, but from playing for an afternoon I can say it is high quality, the paddles are well done, and programming is easy. I just ordered the wrong height sticks, but they're swappable, so I'll get that fixed soon.

Not a problem I've got personally but apparently these are really good

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Squidgrip-0010SGG4-SquidGrip-For-PS4/dp/B00KVKDNY4/

u/rjames24000 · 1 pointr/apexuniversity

I use default controls but I installed this remap kit so gameplay is still comfortable https://www.amazon.com/eXtremeRate-Programable-Remap-Controller-Redesigned-Buttons/dp/B07PLZC5KK

u/StawhpIT · 1 pointr/PS4

So what I did for my controllers was buy any of [these] (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=metal+ps4+thumbstick&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Ametal+ps4+thumbstick)

After getting those on I got grips

Finally if you get sweaty hands while playing like a lot of people I HIGHLY recommend [squid grip] (http://www.amazon.com/SquidGrip-Controllers-controller-included-playstation-4/dp/B00KVKDNY4/ref=sr_1_1_twi_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1421194990&sr=1-1&keywords=squid+grip)

If you opt for the squid grip make sure you wipe your controller down with iso alcohol so theres no grease or crap on it when you apply the grips and read the damn instructions.
