I obsessively use the velcro command strips to hang paintings and pictures. For something not framed, I like to make wood stick poster hangers, kind of like this to hold it in place, but use command velcro strips to attach the wood sticks to the wall. Doesn't damage the art.
In my experience, it's not difficult to frame canvas. It's just a little pricey. I pasted a link below to "cheap" frames.
